Technical Field
The present invention relates to communications technologies, and in particular, to a paging method, a base station, and a paging system.
Background
Currently, the application of intelligent terminals is very common, and heartbeat messages of the intelligent applications during service can trigger a wireless access network to issue a large amount of paging messages to the terminals; meanwhile, as the application of instant communication services (such as WeChat, QQ and other applications) is more and more extensive, the wireless access network is also triggered to issue a large amount of paging messages to the terminal. Paging resources and the system's ability to process paging messages present significant challenges to the radio access network.
With the explosive increase of the user traffic demand, more and more operators in countries and regions acquire more frequency band resources to provide better service experience for users, and the multi-frequency band network deployment is more and more common.
A concept of a Tracking Area (TA) is defined in a Long Term Evolution (Long Term Evolution, LTE) system, and UE notifies an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) of the current state of the EPC through TA registration and update. When the UE in idle state needs to be paged, the EPC will select to issue paging messages in all cells of the TA where the UE is located. However, this approach wastes paging resources on the network side.

In order to make the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the embodiments of the present invention clearer, the technical solutions in the embodiments of the present invention will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present invention, and it is obvious that the described embodiments are some, but not all, embodiments of the present invention. All other embodiments, which can be derived by a person skilled in the art from the embodiments given herein without making any creative effort, shall fall within the protection scope of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic structural diagram of a base station according to an embodiment of the present invention, and as shown in fig. 1, the base station of this embodiment may include: the device comprises a receiving module 11, a determining module 12 and a paging module 13, wherein the receiving module 11 is configured to receive a paging message sent by a core network device, where the paging message includes capability information of a user equipment UE; the capability information is used for determining the range of paging the UE; a determining module 12, configured to determine, according to the capability information of the UE, a range for paging the UE; and a paging module 13, configured to page the UE within a range in which the UE is paged.
In the existing LTE technology, when a network side needs to contact a terminal in an idle state, an LTE base station (evolved node B, abbreviated as eNodeB) sends a paging message within the entire TA List range. However, according to the current common engineering planning, the number of TAs included in one TA List is several to dozens, the number of enodebs covered by one TA is dozens, and generally, the TAs are planned according to the geographical location, and cells of different frequency bands covering the same geographical area by one eNodeB are planned under the same TA, so that paging messages sent by the eNodeB can be sent in hundreds of cells no matter whether the paging terminal supports the frequency bands of the cells, which causes great waste of paging resources on the network side.
The paging process is initiated by a core network device, the base station of the present invention may be the above base station, and may also be a base station of a future 5G network, and correspondingly, the core network device may be a Mobility Management Entity (MME), and may also be a device suitable for a core network of the 5G network, which is not limited herein. The paging message received by the base station from the core network device carries capability information of a User Equipment (UE), and the capability information is used for determining a range for paging the UE. The Paging message may be, for example, a Paging message (Paging) sent by the core network device through the S1 port, where the core network device fills the capability information of the UE with a reserved field in the Paging message, and optionally, the core network device may also send the capability information of the UE through a newly added field in the Paging message, which is not limited herein. Therefore, the base station can acquire the capability of the UE to be paged, and then determine the range of the paging UE according to the capability information of the UE, namely the capability of the UE determines which cells the UE may reside in, the existing network deployment comprises cells of various systems and various frequency bands, not all the UE can reside in any cell, therefore, in order to reduce the number of paging messages sent by the base station, cells which the UE is absolutely impossible to reside in can be filtered out, paging is carried out only in the cells in which the UE is possible to reside, and the cells are the range in which the UE can be paged. After determining the range of the UE to be paged, the base station may send a paging message within the range to page the UE that the core network device wishes to page.
In the base station of the embodiment, the range for paging the UE is determined according to the capability information of the UE in the paging message sent by the core network device, and the paging message is sent only in the determined range, so that the number of the paging messages is greatly reduced, and the waste of paging resources on the network side is avoided.
Further, the capability information of the UE includes frequency bands supported by the UE.
The capability information of the UE may be a frequency Band supported by the UE, and the frequency Band may be, for example, an operating Band (operating Band) defined in a third Generation Partnership Project (3 GPP) protocol, such as Band1, Band5, Band7, Band38, and the like, where each Band corresponds to a different frequency Band.
Further, the determining module 12 is specifically configured to determine, according to the frequency band supported by the UE, that a cell covering the frequency band supported by the UE belongs to a range for paging the UE.
The capability information of the UE in the paging message is a frequency band supported by the UE, and the determining module 12 of the base station determines, according to the frequency band supported by the UE, that the cell covering the frequency band belongs to a range where the UE can be paged.
