Abstract

Description
技术领域
本发明涉及用于探测高能辐射的探测器、包括该辐射探测器的检查设备、以及用于制造该辐射探测器的方法。
背景技术
根据US5821539A1,已知一种辐射探测器包括直接转换材料,其中,辐射高能辐射转换为可移动电荷(电子和空穴)。为了去除已经捕获于转换器材料中的电荷,除常规阴极和阳极外,附加地设置“注入电极”。据说电极材料的金属可以扩散到相邻的转换器材料中,从而在其中生成负的掺杂。
发明内容
基于此背景,本发明的目的是提供容许以提高的可靠性来探测高能辐射的构件。
此目的通过根据权利要求1的辐射探测器、根据权利要求12的设备、以及根据权利要求13的制造方法实现。优选实施例公开于从属权利要求中。
根据其第一方面,本发明涉及一种用于高能辐射的探测的辐射探测器,即用于能量高于约100eV的(X射线或γ-)光子的探测的辐射探测器。辐射探测器包括以下部件:
a)“转换器元件”,用于将入射高能辐射转换为电荷信号,例如转换为所述转换器材料的导带和相应价带中的电子-空穴对。

描述的辐射探测器涉及用于高能辐射的探测的方法,该方法包括以下步骤:

在辐射探测器的典型实施例中,每一个单个阴极与包括多个阳极的(常规或非常规)阵列成对。于是能够分开地读出到达阵列的不同阳极的电荷信号,这容许对入射辐射的空间分辨的探测。
阴极和阳极的阵列将优选地覆盖基本相同大小的面积。从而,能够实现典型的设计,其中转换器元件夹置于单个(大)阴极与(小)阳极的阵列之间。通常,该设计将在转换器元件内导致完全均匀的电场。在本发明的上下文中,然而,通过增大阳极阵列附近的场强和/或减小远离阵列的地方的场强,此均匀性被打破。

根据本发明,通过无源构件,即通过转换器元件的合适设计,来实现转换器元件的第一区域和/或第二区域中的电场强度的更改。此设计可以特别是包括转换器元件的化学组成。在本发明的优选实施例中,转换器元件包括例如(均匀)基底,该基底非均匀掺杂有至少一种掺杂剂。
前述掺杂剂的浓度可以特别是在阳极阵列附近的第一区域中比远离阳极阵列的第二区域中高。替代地,掺杂剂的浓度可以在远离阳极阵列的第二区域中比此阵列附近的第一区域中高。
掺杂剂的浓度可以优选地在第一区域和/或第二区域中是均匀的。此外,第一或第二区域中的掺杂剂的浓度可以特别是零,意指有效地仅对第一和第二区域之一进行掺杂。

具体实施方式
基于例如CdTe或CZT的直接转换器材料的用于X射线和伽玛辐射的能量分辨探测器能够有效地测量光子能量。图1示意性地示例了该常规直接转换辐射探测器10的侧视图。直接转换器探测器10包括“转换器元件”2,即半导体材料块,位于阴极1与阳极3的阵列4之间。通过读出单元5将(高)电压施加于这些电极。入射光子X产生若干电子/空穴对。其后,电子漂移至“底部”侧的阳极像素的阵列4,而空穴漂移至阴极1。重要的是需要注意,在电荷载流子的漂移期间,归因于电容耦合,电流已经感生到了像素阳极中(并且不是,如人们第一眼可能想到的,在电荷到达收集阳极处时)。像素阳极中的电流由读出单元5读出并评估。

典型地,目标是最高可能的最大计数率。最大计数率技术上受到电子脉冲的宽度的限制,因为在最大计数率附近,脉冲愈加彼此重叠(称为“堆积效应”)。较小的脉冲宽度减小堆积的发生并从而提供改善的谱性能。此外,较尖的脉冲(即,具有较低宽度但是较大脉冲高度)能够更可靠地被探测到,并且因此提高了谱分辨率。
因此提出优化转换器元件内的电场,特别是通过受主(即,p掺杂)的专用掺杂分布来优化。如果施加于阳极附近,则离化的受主将产生负空间电荷,这导致阳极附近增大的电场。结果,电子正好在进入阳极之前加速,其缩短了有效测得的峰宽度并增大了峰高度。
图2示例了根据以上原理设计的辐射探测器100。与图1中相同的部件由增大100的参考数字指示,并且不必再次被解释。
相对于图1的辐射探测器的本质差异是转换器元件102被在与阳极103的阵列104相邻延伸的第一区域Rd中p掺杂有电子受主,而远离阳极阵列的第二区域R0保持未掺杂。第一区域Rd大致覆盖像素加权电位的相关区(例如,量化为的区),而第二区域R0覆盖转换器元件102的其余体积。掺杂的第一区域Rd中的带负电的掺杂剂原子将局部电场的强度增大至值Ed,其比阴极101附近的第二区域R0中的电场强度E0高。

本发明的途径能够施加于所有种类的能量分辨伽玛或X射线辐射探测器,即用于医学成像应用(如光谱X射线或光谱CT)、用于质量保证的工业成像应用、行李扫描、天文的探测器和用于科学目的的其它探测器。
最后,需要指出,在本申请中,术语“包括”不排除其它元件或步骤,“一”不排除多个,并且单个处理器或其它单元可以履行数个构件的功能。本发明在于每一个新颖的特征和特征的每一个组合。此外,权利要求中的参考符号不应视为限制它们的范围。
Claims (13)
1.一种辐射探测器(100),包括:
a)转换器元件(102),用于将入射高能辐射(X)转换为电荷信号;
b)布置在所述转换器元件的不同侧上的阳极(103)的阵列(104)和阴极(101),用于在所述转换器元件(102)中生成电场(E0,Ed);
其中,所述转换器元件(102)具有空间不均匀性,借助于所述空间不均匀性,所述电场(E0,Ed)的强度在所述阳极阵列附近的第一区域(Rd)中增大和/或在远离所述阳极阵列的第二区域(R0)中减小。
2.根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述阴极(101)和所述阳极阵列(104)覆盖基本相同大小的面积。
3.根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述电场(E0,Ed)基本垂直于由所述阴极(101)和/或所述阳极阵列(104)限定的平面指向。
4.根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述电场(E0,Ed)的绝对值具有非零梯度,所述非零梯度垂直于由所述阴极(101)和/或所述阳极阵列(104)限定的平面。
6.根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述转换器元件(102)包括非均匀掺杂有至少一种掺杂剂的基底。
7.根据权利要求6所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述阳极阵列(104)附近的所述第一区域(Rd)中的所述掺杂剂的浓度大于所述第二区域(R0)中的所述掺杂剂的浓度。
8.根据权利要求6所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述掺杂剂的浓度在所述第一区域(Rd)中均匀和/或在所述第二区域(R0)中为零。
9.根据权利要求6所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述掺杂剂是电子受主。
10.根据权利要求6所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述转换器元件(102)的所述基底包括选自Si、Ge、Se、GaAs、CdTe、CZT和PbO构成的组的材料。
11.根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器(100),
其特征在于,所述辐射探测器包括读出单元(105),用于读出在所述转换器元件(102)中生成的电荷信号。
12.一种检查设备,特别是光子计数能量分辨的X射线设备或CT扫描仪,包括根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器(100)。
13.一种用于制造辐射探测器(100)的方法,所述辐射探测器(100)特别是根据权利要求1所述的辐射探测器,所述方法包括以下步骤:
a)提供能够将高能辐射(X)转换为电荷信号的基底(102);
b)对所述基底进行非均匀掺杂;
c)将阳极(103)的阵列(104)和阴极(101)施加到所述基底的不同侧上。
