本发明涉及一种用于将金属屋顶薄片或其它包层紧固到一系列不同基板上的自钻螺钉。
发明描述
17型自钻螺钉已经被广泛应用了多年,其主要是一种木用螺钉用于安装在软的或者硬的木头中。虽然17型螺钉有时被用于将屋顶金属薄片固定到下面的木板条上,但螺钉的钻头在钻入金属薄片时有困难,有时根本钻不进去。尽管用17型螺钉以这种方式紧固屋顶金属薄片是可以完成的,但这非常耗时并且会因为那些无法钻入薄片的螺钉而导致大量的螺钉浪费。而且,17型螺钉在不预先打孔的情况下,不适用于将屋顶金属薄片紧固到钢板条上,要达到此目的需要选用其他的螺钉。现在也有螺钉适用于钻入木材和钢材板条,但都受限于所要钻入的钢板条的厚度;此外,尽管这种螺钉在钻入相对较软的木材如松木时有好的性能,但它们不适用于钻入硬木。
发明内容
本发明涉及一种改良的多用途的自钻螺钉,用于将金属屋顶薄片和其他包层紧固到包括薄的和厚的钢质板条和软的或者非常硬的木头的一系列宽范围的材料中。
根据本发明,提供了一种螺钉,用于将金属薄片屋顶材料或者其它包层紧固到木质或者金属的支撑物上,该螺钉在其前端具有钻孔部分并且在钻孔部分向后方向具有螺纹柄部分。钻孔部分在其外端有反向的(opposing)切削刃和从该切削刃开始大体上轴向向后延伸的出屑槽,螺纹柄部分被构造为具有锋利螺纹(sharp thread)(在此处定义),该锋利螺纹开始于钻孔部分远离切削刃的一端并且经过若干圈渐进上升到整个螺纹高度,从切削刃向内,钻孔部分的直径是基本不变的,并且螺纹柄部分的螺纹内径是基本不变的,该螺纹内径与钻孔部分的直径大约相同,所述螺纹为扶壁螺纹,其中螺纹的后侧面与前侧面相比,相对于螺纹柄的轴线倾斜更大的角度。
“锋利螺纹”是指一种螺纹牙顶的横截面的宽度不超过大约0.25mm的螺纹。在这方面,虽然经随便地观察,很多的螺纹构造似乎都终止于锋利的尖锐的牙顶,但仔细观察会发现不是这样。在现有螺钉顶部的构造中,螺纹牙顶倾向于为平的或圆的而不是横截面宽度通常为0.75到1.00mm数量级的尖锐形。那种构造的牙顶不能像锋利螺纹一样工作来产生本文所描述的效果。
在本发明的一个优选实施例中,螺纹的后侧面与螺纹柄轴线的倾角为70度到85度,尤其优选的是倾角为75度。
有利地是,螺钉的螺距为10tpi(每英寸圈数)至13tpi,尤其优选的是12tpi。
进一步根据本发明,提供了一种用于将金属薄片屋顶材料或者其他包层紧固到木头或者金属支撑物上的螺钉,该螺钉在其前端具有钻孔部分,在钻孔部分的后面具有螺纹柄部分,螺纹柄部分由锋利螺纹构成,该锋利螺纹的牙顶宽度不超过大约0.25mm,该螺纹通过若干圈渐进上升到整个螺纹高度,螺纹柄部分的螺纹内径是基本不变的,该螺纹内径与钻孔部分的直径的基本相同,其中所述螺纹为扶壁螺纹,该螺纹的后侧面相比于前侧面与螺纹柄轴线有更大的倾角,所述螺纹的螺距为10到13tpi。

具体实施方式
附图中所示的螺钉包括在其一端的驱动头部2、在另一端的钻孔部分4和螺纹柄6,该螺纹柄部6从钻孔部分4的内端延伸并具有不变的螺纹内径。尽管图中所示的头部2具有传统的六角驱动构造,但该头部也可以是其他结构。钻孔部分4在其外端具有倾斜的切削刃8和一对出屑槽10,出屑槽10与切削刃8相交并大体上轴向延伸入螺纹柄部6。除形成有切削刃8的外端外,钻孔部分4在其整个长度内具有基本不变的直径。螺纹始于钻孔部分4远离切削刃8的一端经若干圈渐进升起到最大高度,在优选实施例中为三到四圈。
螺纹柄部6上的螺纹内径与钻孔部分4的直径大致相同。尽管所述螺纹内径和钻孔部分的直径有可能恰好是相同的,但是由于制造公差和所需的生产钻孔部分和螺纹部分的制造方法的不同(生产方法本身是公知的),这两部分的直径可能会出现细微变动;这种细微变动的数量级为正负0.15mm并且该数量级的变动不会对螺钉的性能产生不利影响。因此,这里提到的螺纹内径与钻孔部分的直径大致相同意在包含了这两者之间的细微差别的可能性。
使用中,当钻入钢铁或木板条或其他基板时,钻孔部分4钻孔,碎屑通过出屑槽10从孔中被清理。由于螺纹内径与钻孔部分钻出的孔的直径大致相同,逐渐上升的螺纹将在整个螺纹高度上与孔接合并攻入孔中。
优选实施例中的螺钉被设计用于从柔软到极硬的各种板材,能用于薄到1.2mm的金属,也能用于厚到1.9mm的金属。能达到如此多用途的一个很重要的原因是螺纹的设计。螺纹本身是锋利螺纹(如前所定义),从而提供一种锋利牙顶(sharp crest)。该锋利牙顶非常重要因为当钻孔部分钻入基板时,锥形的螺纹渐进地攻入孔壁,尖锐的牙顶能使得即使在极硬的板材中上述过程也能进行。
所述螺纹是扶壁型(buttress type)螺纹,其中螺纹的后侧面12(朝向头部的那一面)与前侧面14(朝向钻孔端的侧面)相比,相对于轴x-x倾斜更大的角度;这在图4中显示。使用扶壁型螺纹是很重要的,因为它在钻入薄金属板条时能提供很好的抗拉出性能。这种效果在我们在先的澳大利亚专利729658中有描述并且这在该专利讨论的在负载状况(cyclonic loading)下也是有效的。然而该专利中描述的螺钉是为钻入薄金属板条特别设计的,优选实施例的螺钉被设计用于更广的范围并且扶壁型螺纹属于完全不同的设计思想。鉴于前侧面14的角α为大约60度(一种广泛传统的角度),后侧面12的角度β为70度到85度之间,优选为75度左右。后侧面角度在这个范围内也很重要,在薄金属板中时这会提供很好的抗拉出强度,也能为螺纹提供额外的强度以便螺纹在受负载时不会变形并且会在钻入硬木板和厚金属时提供增加的保持强度(holding strength)。
螺距本身在钻入硬木板时对螺钉的性能来说也是一个很重要的因素。为用于建筑结构而考虑的这种类型的螺钉一般为13到15规格(gauge)。优选实施例的螺钉的螺距为10tpi到13tpi(每英寸圈数)。用这种数量级的螺距,当螺纹攻入硬木时足够量的木头保留在相邻的螺纹之间以提供所需要的锚固,由此提供与硬木相联系的高的抗拉出强度。虽然测试已经表明当用于硬木时,螺距为10tpi或者13tpi都很有效,但优选的是12tpi,因为它被确定为当螺钉用于薄金属板条时能提供更好的性能。

Claims (6)

1.一种用于将金属薄片屋顶材料或其他包层紧固到木头或者金属支撑物上的螺钉,该螺钉在其前端具有钻孔部分,在该钻孔部分的后面具有螺纹柄部分,钻孔部分的外端具有反向的切削刃和从切削刃开始大体上轴向向后延伸的出屑槽,该出屑槽延伸入螺纹柄部分,螺纹柄部分由锋利螺纹构成,该锋利螺纹的牙顶宽度不超过0.25mm,该锋利螺纹为偏梯形螺纹,其中与螺纹的前侧面相比,该螺纹的后侧面与螺纹柄的轴线之间的夹角更大,该偏梯形螺纹始于钻孔部分远离切削刃的一端并经过若干圈后渐进上升到整个螺纹高度,从切削刃向内,钻孔部分具有大致不变的直径,螺纹柄部分的螺纹内径基本不变,该螺纹内径与钻孔部分的直径大致相同;
所述螺纹的后侧面与所述螺纹柄的轴线的夹角为70度到85度;
所述螺纹的螺距为10到13tpi。
2.根据权利要求1所述的螺钉,其中所述螺纹的后侧面与所述螺纹柄的轴线的夹角为70度到小于75度。
3.根据权利要求1所述的螺钉,其中所述后侧面的倾角为大约75度。
4.根据权利要求2所述的螺钉,其中所述螺纹的螺距为10tpi。
5.根据权利要求1所述的螺钉,其中所述螺距为12tpi。
6.一种用于将金属薄片屋顶材料或其他包层紧固到木头或者金属支撑物上的螺钉,该螺钉在其前端具有钻孔部分,在其钻孔部分的后面具有螺纹柄部分,螺纹柄部分由锋利螺纹构成,该锋利螺纹的牙顶宽度不超过0.25mm,该锋利螺纹为偏梯形螺纹,其中与螺纹的前侧面相比,该螺纹的后侧面与螺纹柄的轴线之间的夹角更大,该偏梯形螺纹经过若干圈渐进上升到整个螺纹高度,所述螺纹柄部分的螺纹内径是基本不变的,该螺纹内径与钻孔部分的直径大致相同,所述螺纹的螺距为10到13tpi使得当螺纹攻入硬木时足够量的木头保留在相邻的螺纹之间以提供所需要的锚固,由此提供与硬木相联系的高的抗拉出强度;
