Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of communications, and in particular, to a communication method, system, control station and terminal that accommodate terminal differentiation in a communication system.
Background
Currently, a wireless communication system uses electromagnetic waves to communicate with a fixed or mobile wireless communication terminal (for example, a wireless telephone, a notebook with a wireless communication card, a computer, or other devices can be referred to as a terminal). Generally, in wireless communication, a terminal is located within the wireless coverage of a system and communicates with the system through a wireless communication channel. Specifically, the wireless communication channel divides the frequency of the electromagnetic wave into a plurality of carrier frequencies, and one carrier frequency is one wireless communication channel. The terminal may contact other devices in the system (e.g., a controlling network element or other terminals) via one or more carriers.
The controlling network element of the wireless communication system may control the other devices according to the communication protocol/technology agreed by the system. The control network element comprises a control station and a network. The control station includes, but is not limited to, a base station, a relay station, and a terminal, wherein when the terminal is the control station, the terminal may be selected from the terminals according to a predetermined rule as a temporary control station. Communication protocols/technologies include, but are not limited to, GSM, CDMA, EDGE, CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, WCDMA, EVDO, HSOPA, WiMAX, LTE, LTE-A.
In detail, a wireless communication system can provide wireless coverage over a certain geographical range, called a cell, by using a designated wireless channel through a Base Station (BS). Generally, the base station should be located in the center of the cell in theory. The base stations may be divided into Macro base stations (Macro BSs), micro base stations (PICO BSs), and PICO base stations (FEMTOCELL BSs) according to the size of the coverage of the base stations.
In addition, one or more relay stations may be placed between the terminal and the base station in order to extend coverage or to extend capacity. For a terminal, a relay station is equivalent to a base station. Or,
in a network with a great number of terminals, the terminals may also form an ad hoc network (or cluster), and a certain terminal in the ad hoc network is used as a temporary control station to assist the system in management, and the temporary control station may receive the control of the original control station to manage the subordinate terminals.
The wired communication system transmits electric signals by using a wire to connect the control station and the terminal. The control station sends control signals over wires (e.g., cables, waveguides, etc.) to control the terminals.
With the continuous evolution and development of communication technology, in order to better meet the user requirements of different users in different scenes, the differences between different communication protocols and versions are obvious, and different types of user terminals will exist simultaneously in a specific time.
In order to save the network-building investment cost of telecommunication operators, maintain stable customer resources and realize smooth evolution of communication standard versions, the telecommunication operators are important to ensure that network services can simultaneously provide services for user terminals with differences.
Therefore, in response to the rapid development of current communication systems, many differences may occur between terminals within the control range of the same control station, for example
Under the same communication protocol/technology, terminals with different protocol versions/technology versions have function and/or performance difference; for example, a terminal employing a new technology in a wireless communication system uses multiple antennas (MIMO), while an old terminal uses only a single antenna;
under the same communication protocol/technology and the same protocol version/technology version, terminals with different configurations have function and/or performance difference; for example, a high-configuration terminal of a new technology in a wired or wireless communication system uses a plurality of carriers to contact a control station, and a low-configuration terminal of the new technology only uses a single carrier to contact the control station;
the same terminal has function and/or performance difference in different scenes and/or different service types; for example, the selection thresholds for the terminal to access the own dedicated home base station and the public macro base station in the wireless communication system may be different, and for example, the terminal to access the gateway base station supporting different modes may need to configure different operating modes.
Terminals of different communication protocols/technologies differ. Such as how multi-mode, single-mode coexistence systems share resources between different wireless technologies.
Aiming at various differences of a plurality of terminals, an integral solution is not provided in the current communication protocol/technology to realize the detailed management of the system, so that the performance of the system is further optimized. For example, how to configure QoS parameters of differentiated terminals to meet different service requirements, how to adjust modulation and coding thresholds of differentiated terminals to obtain a more efficient modulation and coding scheme? Or how to refine ARQ (automatic repeat request) windows or HARQ (hybrid automatic repeat request) retransmission times of different terminals to meet transmission efficiency of different scenarios of different services? Or, whether different management procedures of the differentiated terminal, such as different power saving mode management, different handover procedures, and different network access procedures, can be implemented to achieve more reasonable management effect and reduce unnecessary management overhead?
If the above problems are solved, terminals with different capabilities can obtain reasonable working configuration with different configurations, and under the background of continuous development of telecommunication technology, no matter a wired system or a wireless system, smooth evolution can be realized, multiple different configurations can be realized, terminals with different communication protocol versions coexist, and various services can be efficiently and reasonably provided.
