动力系统10可以包括进气系统30。进气系统30可与动力系统10相关联,并可包括通过进气端口22和进气阀调节压缩空气并将压缩空气引入气缸16中的组成部件。例如,进气系统30可包括空气滤清器32、连接成通过空气滤清器32抽吸进气的压缩机34、以及位于压缩机34下游的空气冷却器36。可以想到的是,进气系统30可包括例如进气旁通组成部件、节流阀的不同的或附加的组成部件、和本领域已知的其它组成部件。
空气滤清器32能够从流动进入动力系统10中的空气去除或捕集碎片。例如,空气滤清器32可包括全流式滤清器、自清洁式滤清器、离心式滤清器、静电除尘器、或本领域已知的任何其它类型的空气过滤装置。可以想到的是,进气系统30内可包含不止一个空气滤清器32,并且它们以串联或并联配置方式设置。空气滤清器32可被连接到进气端口22。
压缩机34可位于空气滤清器32的下游并能够压缩流动进入动力系统10中的空气。压缩机34可以是几何形状固定型压缩机、几何形状可变型压缩机、或本领域中已知的任何其它类型压缩机。可以想到是,进气系统30内可包含不止一个压缩机34,并且它们以并联或串联关系设置。空气冷却器36能够冷却进气系统30内气缸16上游的空气,并可包括液体-空气热交换器、空气-空气热交换器、或本领域已知的用于冷却空气的任何其它类型的热交换器。
动力系统10还可包括废气再循环系统(EGR)50。EGR 50可包括通过废气端口24和废气阀调节和引导来自气缸16的废气的组成部件。例如,EGR 50可包括通过排出的废气驱动的涡轮机40、颗粒滤清器42、能够将处理后的废气引导到大气中的阀44和废气出口66、流量计52、废气冷却器54、和能够选择性地使废气流动通过EGR50或限制废气流动通过EGR 50的阀56。可以想到的是,EGR 50可包括诸如废气旁通组成部件、废气制动系统的与上述不同的或附加的组成部件,和本领域已知的其它组成部件。
涡轮机40可被定位成接收通过废气端口24离开动力系统10的废气。涡轮机40可通过共用轴连接到进气系统30的压缩机34,以形成涡轮增压器。随着离开动力系统10的热废气运动通过涡轮机40并作用于涡轮机40,即,朝着叶片(未显示)膨胀,涡轮机40可转动并驱动压缩机34,以压缩进气。可以想到的是,EGR 50中可包含不止一个涡轮机40,并且它们以并联或串联关系设置。
颗粒滤清器42可设置在涡轮机40的下游,以从来自动力系统10的被引导的废气流中去除颗粒物。可以想到的是,颗粒滤清器42可包括导电的或不导电的粗网元件。还可以想到的是,颗粒滤清器42可包括用于降低颗粒滤清器42所捕集的颗粒物质的点燃温度的催化剂、可使颗粒滤清器42所捕集的颗粒物质再生的再生系统、或催化剂和再生系统二者。催化剂可支持HC、CO、和/或颗粒物质的还原,并可包括例如碱金属氧化物、熔融盐、和/或贵重金属。再生系统可包括燃料供能燃烧器、电阻式加热器、发动机控制策略、或本领域已知的用于再生的任何其它装置等。可以想到的是,可以可选择地省略颗粒滤清器42。
EGR 50还可包括流量计52和废气冷却器54。流量计52能够测量废气流量并可以是例如热质流量计、层流元件、质量补偿容积式鲁茨流量计(mass compensated positive displacement roots meter)、或能够测量气体流量的任何其它合适的装置。废气冷却器54可设置在颗粒滤清器42的下游,并能够冷却流动通过EGR 50的部分废气。废气冷却器54可包括液体-空气热交换器、空气-空气热交换器、或本领域已知的用于冷却废气流的任何其它类型的热交换器。可以想到的是,可以可选择地省略废气冷却器54。
动力系统10还可包括选择性催化还原系统(SCR)60。SCR 60可包括调节和引导通过废气端口24和废气阀从气缸16排出的废气的组成部件。SCR 60可包括还原剂源64、连接到还原剂源64的喷射器62、以及催化器66。还原剂可从还原剂源64抽取并通过喷射器62喷洒到催化器66上。还原剂源64可流体连接到喷射器62。容纳在还原剂源64内的还原剂可以是气态的、液态的或者固态的,并且可以是本领域已知的任何还原剂,诸如尿素、氨、或碳氢化合物还原剂。喷射器62可以将还原剂从还原剂源64喷射到SCR 60,以降低SCR 60中的成分浓度。例如,通过与催化器66和废气中的NOx起反应而形成H2O和N2来降低氮氧化物(NOX)的浓度。
催化器66可设置在SCR 60中,使得废气流以基本上平均分布的方式流过催化器66,并且使得成分与还原剂接触并起反应。催化器66可由多种材料制成。例如,催化器66可包括支承材料和散布在催化器支承材料内的金属促进剂。支承材料可包括氧化铝、沸石、磷酸铝、六铝酸盐、铝硅酸盐、锆酸盐、钛硅酸盐、钛酸盐中的至少一种,并且金属促进剂可包括银(Ag)。可以根据所使用的燃料的类型、所使用的还原剂的类型、所需的空气燃料蒸汽比例、和/或为了符合环境标准而使用这些材料的组合,以及选择支承材料。本领域普通技术人员将会理解,在不背离本发明的范围的条件下可以使用多种其它催化剂合成物,包括可与碳氢化合物还原剂一起使用的催化剂合成物。而且,SCR 60中还可包括多个催化装置。
如图2所示,动力系统10可包括控制系统70,该控制系统70能够确定动力系统10的操作特征并控制废气的流动。具体地说,控制系统70调节通过EGR 50的废气的流动并可以控制还原剂从喷射器62喷射到SCR 60中。特别地,控制系统70可包括控制器72,该控制器72能够接收空气燃料比例传感器74、气缸压强传感器76、燃料消耗传感器78和污染物传感器46产生的信号,并且进行响应而影响阀44、阀56和喷射器62的操作。
控制器72可包括能够控制动力系统10的操作的单个微处理器或多个微处理器。多种可通过商业渠道获得的微处理器能够用于执行控制器72的功能。应当理解,控制器72可容易地具体化为能够控制动力系统10的多种功能的通用微处理器。控制器72可包括存储器、辅助存储装置、处理器、以及用于执行应用程序的其它组成部件。多种其它电路可以与控制器72相关联,诸如电源电路、信号调节电路、螺线管驱动器电路、和其它类型的电路。
与发动机载荷相关的一个或多个电子映射图可被存储在控制器72的存储器中。这些映射图的每一个可以是表格、图表、和/或方程式的形式,并包括从实验室和/或动力系统10的现场操作收集的数据的编译。映射图可使发动机载荷与诸如空气燃料比例、气缸压强或燃料消耗的参数相关。映射图可使通过EGR 50再循环的废气的份额与发动机载荷相关。映射图可使待喷射的还原剂的量与污染物水平和发动机载荷中的一个相关。控制器72可访问这些映射图并由此影响动力系统10的操作。
图3示出了用于控制EGR 50和SCR 60的方法的流程图。后文将更详细地讨论图3。
图4显示了替代的动力系统10。类似于图1的动力系统10,图4的动力系统10可包括EGR 50和SCR 60。但是,与图1的动力系统10不同,图4的EGR 50可将涡轮机40上游的废气引导到压缩机34和空气冷却器36的下游。
工业实用性
所公开的废气后处理系统可被应用于具有废气再循环系统(EGR)和选择性催化还原系统(SCR)的任何动力系统,并可包括EGR和SCR的性能。所公开的废气后处理系统选择性地在低载荷和中等载荷操作EGR,并在中等载荷和高载荷操作SCR,以优化每个EGR和SCR系统,并改进任一单独EGR和SCR系统的NOx的减少。
大气中的空气可通过空气滤清器32被抽吸到进气系统30中,并可被引导通过压缩机34,在压缩机34中空气被加压到预定水平,然后进入发动机12的燃烧室。燃料可以在进入发动机12的燃烧室之前或之后与加压空气混合。燃料和空气混合物可通过发动机12点燃,以产生机械功和包含气态混合物的废气流。废气流可以是还可包含固态颗粒物质和污染物(例如碳、硫和NOx)的流体。废气流可被从发动机12引导到涡轮机40,在涡轮机40中热废气的膨胀可导致涡轮机40转动,由此使连接的压缩机34转动,从而压缩进气。在排出涡轮机40之后,废气可流动通过颗粒滤清器42。
控制系统70可根据来自传感器46、74、76和78、阀44和56、以及喷射器62的信号调节废气的流动和喷射的还原剂的量。控制系统70可影响动力系统10的操作,更具体地影响阀44、阀56和喷射器62的操作,从而调节通过SCR 60和EGR 50的废气流动。废气可根据阀44和56的位置流动通过SCR 60。可流动通过SCR 60的废气可经过催化器66,喷射器62可喷射存储在还原剂源64内的尿素,使得还原剂在催化器66中与NOx起反应,从而形成H2O和N2。之后废气可通过出68排出动力系统10。废气可根据阀44和56的位置流动通过EGR 50。可流动通过EGR 50的废气在被再次引入进气系统30之前可经过流量计52和废气冷却器54。
图3为示出示例性公开的用于操作废气后处理控制系统的方法的流程图。控制器72可根据指示从传感器74接收的空气燃料比例、从传感器76接收的气缸压强、或从传感器78接收的燃料消耗中的至少一种的信号确定动力系统10的载荷(步骤80)。动力系统10可在等于或低于第一值的负载下操作,所述第一值指示给定的发动机载荷。动力系统10可在等于或高于第二值的负载下操作,所述第二值指示给定的发动机第二载荷。动力系统10可在第一值和第二值之间的载荷下操作。可以想到的是,第一值可以等于第二值。
之后,根据动力系统10低于指示给定发动机载荷的第二值地操作的确定,控制器72可确定是否使废气通过EGR 50再循环(步骤82)。接着控制器72可使阀44和56的位置改变,使得至少一部分废气流过EGR 50。控制器72可访问电子映射图,以确定通过EGR 50再循环的废气的份额。还可想到的是,控制器72可仅仅在动力系统10的载荷低于第二值时,或替代地在任何载荷下使废气通过EGR 50再循环。
接着,根据动力系统10高于指示给定发动机载荷的第一值地操作的确定,控制器72可确定是否将还原剂喷射到SCR 60中(步骤84)。控制器72之后可从还原剂源64抽吸还原剂,并将还原剂通过喷射器62喷射到催化器66上或催化器66上游的废气中。控制器72可访问电子映射图来确定喷射入SCR 60中的还原剂的量。控制器72可仅仅在动力系统10的载荷高于第一值时,或替代地在任何载荷下将还原剂喷射到SCR 60中。
当前公开的后处理系统具有多个优点。通过在低载荷和中等载荷下操作EGR,动力系统可受益于EGR而没有与在高载荷下的EGR相关的过高的气缸压强、空气燃料比例、或燃料消耗。而且,被再循环通过EGR的废气在再次引入发动机之前会更冷并且用来冷却废气所需要的热交换机也更小。通过在中等载荷和高载荷下操作SCR,动力系统可在最少使用或不使用EGR的条件下受益于污染物还原反应。而且,通过选择性地采用SCR,需要的还原剂储存量更少。
本领域技术人员清楚的是,在不脱离本发明的范围的条件下,可以对本发明的后处理系统进行各种变型和改变。考虑到这里公开的系统的说明书和实践,本领域技术人员可以想到其它实施方式。说明书和例子仅被认为是示例性的,本发明的真正范围由权利要求书及其等同物来限定。

Claims (10)

1.一种用于处理来自发动机的废气的方法,该方法包括:
产生指示发动机载荷的第一信号;
产生指示污染物水平的第二信号;
根据所述第一信号使废气再循环;以及
根据所述第一信号和所述第二信号喷射还原剂。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中,所述第一信号指示空气燃料比例、气缸压强、或燃料消耗中的至少一种。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括在所述发动机载荷高于指示给定发动机载荷的第一值时喷射所述还原剂。
4.根据权利要求1所述的方法,还包括在所述发动机载荷低于指示给定发动机载荷的第二值时使所述废气的一部分再循环。
5.根据权利要求4所述的方法,还包括根据所述发动机载荷确定待再循环的所述废气的份额。
6.一种用于发动机的废气后处理系统,所述废气后处理系统包括:
废气再循环系统(50);
具有还原剂喷射器(62)的选择性催化还原系统(60);
能够影响废气的流动的阀(44);
能够产生指示发动机载荷的信号的传感器(76);以及
与所述阀和所述传感器通信的控制器(72),所述控制器能够根据所述信号影响所述废气的流动并且根据所述信号影响还原剂的喷射。
7.根据权利要求6所述的系统,其中,在所述发动机载荷高于指示给定发动机载荷的第一值时所述还原剂被喷射入所述选择性催化还原系统。
8.根据权利要求6所述的系统,其中,所述控制器还能够在所述发动机载荷高于指示给定发动机载荷的第一值时将所述还原剂喷射入所述选择性催化还原系统中,且所述控制器还能够在所述发动机载荷低于指示给定发动机载荷的第二值时将所述废气的一部分引导通过所述废气再循环系统。
9.根据权利要求8所述的系统,其中,所述第二值指示比所述第一值指示的发动机载荷更高。
10.一种动力系统(10),所述动力系统包括:
进气系统(30);
具有燃烧室的发动机(12);
根据权利要求6至9中任一项所述的废气后处理系统;以及
与所述控制器通信的第二传感器(46),所述第二传感器能够产生指示污染物水平的第二信号。
