背景技术
微量分析器,例如微量气相色谱仪,具有传统分析器中不存在的检测技术的多功能性和适应性。由于它们小尺寸和便携性,微量分析器可以在现场、在明显较大的传统仪器无法检测的位置上执行实验室处理,提供多种类型样品的实际检测结果。微量分析器可以在环境或军事中应用,例如在汽车或设备上。微量分析器在处理时也可以用作在线检测仪器或作为分批分析器。
微量分析器,例如微量气相色谱仪,具有多种限制。在该分析器中使用的一些类型的检测器依赖于放射源,这些放射源涉及环境问题。此外,使用的一些检测器需要高启动或“点火”电压,将引起噪声和与电子设备或其它相邻传感器的干扰。当尝试在单个仪器中使用多个检测器时,可能需要考虑高能量输入和不同类型检测器需要的不同压力。
发明概述

本发明的实施例涉及通过集成多个检测器的多维检测器结构,这些检测器例如是基于热导(TC)、光离子化(PI)、离子迁移(IM)、电子捕获(EC)和离子捕获质谱(ITMS)。该检测器结构可作为与任意类型的设备分析仪器相结合的独立的检测器系统或作为微量分析器(例如微量气相色谱仪)的一部分。分析的样品是液体、气体或两者的组合。微量分析器(例如气相色谱仪)将样品加热,使得只有气体与检测器相接触。使用真空紫外(VUV)光通过光离子化作为微量分析器中集成的一个或多个检测器的光子和电子源。VUV光也可作为离子阻力泵源,用于通过微量分析器使样品或分析物移动。VUV光的使用取代了对环境敏感的反射源或高温高能热发射源的需要。利用VUV光也显著简化了微量分析器的设计和生产,并且显著减小了检测器,例如微放电检测器(MMD)的点火电压。VUV源的尺寸(在毫米量级)与微量分析器中使用的100-150微米的通道和大约10-100微米的检测器相比是很大的。
参考图1,根据本发明一些实施例说明了与微量分析器集成的检测器结构的结构图。微量分析器1,例如微量气相色谱仪(GC),利用加热器阵列3将样品加热到特定的温度。接触垫5位于分析器内,使得接触垫可以将热量传递至样品腔(例如柱)。例如气体的样品通过样品入口 7进入分析器1,并通过检测器结构15中的第一系列检测器。之后样品移动通过由例如通道或毛细管柱组成的微量气相色谱仪。使用预浓缩器13增加样品中包含的期望种类的浓度,由此允许对样品中的该种类进行更灵敏的检测。分离器11根据物理或化学特性,将样品分离为气体组分。分离器也由微通道或毛细管柱构成。当样品朝向出口9流动时,其通过检测器结构15中相匹配的第二系列检测器。第一系列和第二系列检测器包含至少一对相匹配的检测器。通过对比位于样品腔入口的第一系列检测器与靠近微量气相色谱仪出口的第二系列检测器的读出结果,对例如温度、压力、样品流动、空间和寄生电容等进行控制或标准化。这样放置检测器有助于使样品组成和数量避免重大变化,同时减少绝大多数的噪音和干扰。例如微处理器、A/D转换器、前置放大器、定时器、加热器控制和检测器输入功率的监视和控制都通过盒子17表示。

参考图3,根据本发明一些实施例说明了集成在微量分析器中的PID/ECD检测器结构的截面图。图中示出了PID 79和ECD 73如何在一个VUV灯59下集成。样品通道69侧面上的交叉梳状电极81、83间隔放置,因而电极能够将电场穿透通道。例如,正电极81和负电极83可渗透样品通道69直径的50%。此外,电极81、83可穿透样品通道69直径的30-75%。PID79收集所有由光子85产生的电荷载体对,因而光子离子化电流的增加表明更高的分析物浓度。电极81、83可以共面,电极81、83之间的间隙不超过样品通道69高度的30-50%,因而主要大约从最靠近VUV灯窗口61的前面60%的通道直径开始通过电场收集光离子和电子。
ECD73使用在样品通道69底部附近产生的光电子,因为它们从电极81、83金属中去掉和通过交叉梳状的电极75、77的底部收集。当吸引电子的分析物以比氧气更大的对电子的吸引力通过时,可将这些电子俘获并由此降低可测量的ECD电流。负极性的金属膜条77位于样品通道69的底部并位于PID电极81、83之间出现的VUV光子路径中。从金属中敲出的光电子通常被测为“零”电流,该电流在这些电子被经过的分析物分子“捕获”(如上所述)和被样品阻止或运走时降低。这种降低表明有关分析物存在、身份(通过微量GC洗脱时间)和浓度的ECD信号。
除了结合的PID和ECD功能,微量分析器也可以包括离子捕获质谱仪(ITMS)。被俘获的离子优选地由VUV源产生。此外,离子也可在靠近ITMS的地方通过俘获来自自身金属电极的光电子产生。离子也可由用于操作MDD和IMS/DMS以及结合的PID和ECD的VUV灯提供。
通道晶片65和加热器晶片63用于为微量分析器和它的检测器提供结构支持。适于传输来自VUV灯59的能量的材料包含光窗61;例如氟化镁或氟化锂。可选择地提供凹槽67以用于毛细管附件。膜71作为连接加热器晶片63和窗口61的结构。膜71包含例如SU-8合成物或聚二甲基硅氧烷(PDMS)。除了现在窗口61的位置靠近电极晶片87之外,图4表示与图3相似的实施例。电极晶片87必须传输VUV能量并由例如氟化镁或氟化锂等材料制成。之后PID的电极81、83嵌入电极晶片87。这样设置使得微量分析器的生产更加多样和简化。
如所有图所示,VUV光位于靠近检测器结构的位置,从而在VUV光被空气吸收和产生的离子和电子重新组合之前,检测信号最大。检测器的顺序可能是很重要的,因为如果检测器暴露在可能是最原始的分析物下就会得到最佳的分析物读出结果。因此,相对于需要离子(和可能的样品气体成分)进行操作的检测器如PID、ECD、IMS/DMS、ITMS和MDD的位置,非离子化、非破坏性的检测器如TCD和CID位于样品通道的平行的测流或上游位置。在一个可能的配置示例中,入口流可被分开,使得一系列的一个或多个离子化或破坏性的检测器位于入口的一条支路上,而另一系列的一个或多个非破坏性的检测器位于入口的另一个支路上。通过非破坏性检测器之后,样品将通过分析器,然后通过靠近样品出口的第二系列的成对检测器。样品通过包含破坏性检测器的入口支路,之后直接途经靠近样品出口的成对的检测器系列,而不通过分析器。在样品被破坏的部分不超过1%的情况下,可能不需要分开破坏性检测器和非破坏性检测器。

1.一种检测器结构,包括:
包括交叉梳状电极的光离子化检测器(PID);
包括交叉梳状电极的电子捕获检测器(ECD);和
真空紫外(VUV)源,其中所述VUV源是PID和ECD的离子化源,其中PID 和ECD 在VUV源下集成,PID收集由光子产生的电荷载体对,ECD的交叉梳状电极收集从PID的交叉梳状电极去掉的光电子。
