Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of communications technologies, and in particular, to a paging method, system, and apparatus.
Background
Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) paging refers to a signaling process in which a network actively issues a message to search for a called Mobile phone. The traditional GSM paging method is: after a route of a calling Mobile Station (MS) reaches a Mobile Switching Center (MSC) serving the MS, the MSC issues a paging message to the MS, where the paging message is broadcast by all Base Station Controllers (BSCs) in the entire Location Area (LA), that is, all Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) controlled by all BSCs in the Location Area send the paging message to the called MS. A called MS in the location area that is receiving Common Control Channel (CCCH) information receives the paging message and initiates a paging response.
Referring to fig. 1, a specific procedure for performing GSM paging in the prior art includes the following steps:
step 101: after receiving the paging command from the calling MS, the MSC sends the paging command to all BSCs belonging to the location area of the MS.
Step 102: after receiving the paging command, each BSC sends the paging command to all BTSs controlled by the BSC.
Step 103: each BTS transmits a paging message to the called MS after receiving the paging command.
After receiving the paging message, the called MS initiates a paging response and sends the paging response to the BTS, the BTS sends the paging response to the BSC, and the BSC returns the paging response to the MSC.
In the prior art, GSM paging is performed in units of Location Area Codes (LACs). If one LAC has a plurality of BSCs, the paging quantity carried by the LAC is the sum of the paging quantities of the plurality of BSCs, and the size of the LAC and the paging quantity present a linear relation. Paging an MS needs to be performed in the entire LAC area, which cannot achieve accurate paging and wastes network resources.
Moreover, with the rapid development of mobile communication traffic, especially on major holidays or major competition days, the traffic burst in local areas causes the rapid increase of paging volume, which causes great pressure on BSC and Abis interfaces, i.e. communication interfaces between two functional entities of a base station subsystem, namely BSC and BTS, and loads of related processing units, and also brings great hidden danger to the safe and stable operation of a network.
In order to solve the contradiction between network load security and network resource occupation, the prior art proposes a secondary LAC paging method, which does not use LAC as the minimum unit, but uses BSC to which the cell where the MS finally belongs as the unit for paging, as shown in fig. 2, and the specific process of performing GSM paging by the method includes the following steps:
step 201: after receiving the paging command from the calling MS, the MSC queries a Visitor Location Register (VLR) for a global identity (CGI) of a cell in which the called MS is located last.
Step 202: the VLR returns the CGI of the cell where the called MS is last located to the MSC.
Step 203: and the MSC searches the BSC information of the cell where the called MS is located finally according to the received CGI.
Step 204: the MSC sends a paging message to the BSC.
Step 205: the BSC sends a paging command to all BTSs it controls.
Step 206: the BTS transmits a paging request to the called MS.
In the method, paging is carried out by taking the BSC to which the cell where the called MS is located belongs as a unit, the paging range is reduced on a certain program, but when the number of BTSs in one BSC is large, paging is carried out in the whole BSC area, accurate paging cannot be carried out, and under the condition of large paging quantity, the pressure of the paging load of the BSC is also large.

step 301: before sending the paging command, the MSC acquires the cell information of the cell where the called MS is located at last, and determines the BSC of the cell according to the cell information.
Specifically, the Cell information may be a Cell Global Identity (CGI).
In the specific implementation process, the VLR may be used to obtain the cell information of the cell where the called MS is located last.
Step 302: the MSC inserts the cell information of the cell where the called MS is located last into the paging command, and then sends the paging command to the BSC.
Step 303: and the BSC queries a self database according to the cell information to acquire a neighbor cell list of the cell.
Step 304: the BSC sends paging commands to the BTS of the cell and the adjacent cells thereof.
Step 305: each BTS in step 304 will send a paging command to the called MS.
Fig. 4 is a specific flowchart of the first embodiment of the above paging method, in which the range of the LAC is larger than the range controlled by the BSCs, that is, one LAC includes a plurality of BSCs, as shown in fig. 4, which mainly includes the following steps:
step 401: when receiving the paging command of the calling MS, the MSC sends a request for searching the cell information of the cell where the called MS is located finally to the VLR.
Step 402: after receiving the request, the VLR searches for the cell information of the cell where the called MS last located, which is recorded in its database, and if so, continues to step 403, otherwise, enters step 420.
