技术领域
本发明与视听系统技术领域有关,具体地说,涉及与视听系统配合使用的遥控单元。
背景技术
视听(AV)系统现在相当普遍,在市场上可购得。一些AV系统具有交互数字电视能力。交互AV系统使用户可以与AV内容交互。这些交互AV系统用遥控单元(RCU)和在电视屏幕上显示的菜单使用户可以与内容交互。
图1示出了一个典型的现有技术的AV系统100的各个组件。数字AV接收机300接收通过卫星、地面或线缆装置传来的电视信号101。数字AV接收机300将电视信号101解码后将内容显示在诸如电视屏幕120之类的输出设备上。电视屏幕120可以是一个阴极射线管、投影机或LCD。遥控单元200可以用诸如频道选择、音量调整和接收机设置之类的遥控功能块201对AV接收机300进行控制。遥控单元200还用来通过按压遥控单元上的按钮来浏览AV节目。通常,RCU通过红外(IR)发射器142和IR接收器141与接收机通信。图2更为详细地示出了遥控功能块201。RCU包括执行诸如音量控制211、频道选择212和菜单控制213之类的功能块的处理器210。通常,用小键盘220来输入命令。编码器230为IR发射机142对命令进行编码。AV接收机300对命令解码后按命令操作。诸如所选频道的名称和编号之类的当前节目信息和当前时间和日期信息可以显示在电视屏幕120上。此外,电视屏幕120还用来显示用于配置接收机300的菜单和数据输入域。
图3更为详细地示出了现有技术的数字AV接收机300。数字AV接收机300接收通过卫星、地面或线缆装置传来的信号101。调谐器310用来选择一个与特定电视频道相应的特定频率。调谐器310响应经遥控输入处理器320解码的用户命令,例如所选的频道。所选的频道被解调330,以恢复通过诸如MPEG-2传输流传输的数字AV节目数据。
MPEG-2去复用器340将传输流分成音频和视频信号以及任何交互TV(ITV)命令。音频解码器351将音频信号提供给接到如扬声器那样的音频输出装置371上的放大器361。类似地,视频解码器352将信号提供给显示和图形处理器362。处理器362可以将解码器352输出的视频与诸如从ITV命令处理器353得到的交互TV菜单、副标题和AV接收机设置菜单之类的任何可选图形元组合在一起。然后,这个复合视频被提供给诸如图1的电视屏幕120的显示装置372。遥控输入处理器320还处理诸如音量控制和交互TV命令之类的其他命令。

为了与传送给电视接收机的内容交互,大多数界面使用一个覆盖在电视屏幕上的图形界面,以使用户可以与内容交互和提醒用户电视上存在交互内容。2002年1月1日授予Wagner等人的美国专利No.6,335,736揭示了一种这样的系统。
一些系统允许根据一定特征动态地改变用户界面,见2001年9月18日授予Gibbs等人的美国专利No.6,292,187。
2000年10月31日授予Chor等人的美国专利No.6,144,003揭示了一种包括用于选择可用的频道的频道条和图标的图形用户界面。
一些数字AV系统将音频与可视用户界面组合在一起以在特定的选项可用时提示用户。2002年5月24日授予Eggen等人的美国专利No.6,388,715揭示了一种电子节目指南,可以在选择了特定节目种类时产生一个表示这个节目种类的特征的音频信号。
2001年11月6日授予Gudorf等人的美国专利No.6,313,887揭示了一种可以接收和显示由寻呼服务提供商广播的寻呼信息例如节目时间表的寻呼机。
这些现有技术的系统基本上用遥控单元上的小键盘进行内容选择和浏览电视屏幕上显示的图形菜单。用户输入通常通过选择电视屏幕上突出显示的部分后再点击遥控单元上的适当按钮来提供。用户不能随机地选择一个选项。在可用的选项中浏览是通过相继“扫描”这些选项实现的。缺点是为了激活遥控单元上的一个选择按钮,用户必须依赖电视上的图形菜单。另一个缺点是由于IR收发器视距有限,用户必须靠近电视机以观看显示和操作遥控单元。
因此,需要一种视听系统,以克服现有技术的系统的这些问题。
发明内容
本发明提供了一种用于视听(AV)接收机的遥控单元(RCU),它具有一个基于在电视屏幕上看到的主显示的副显示。副显示包括一个触敏表面,用来输入与交互显示元相应的命令。此外,AV接收机与RCU之间的通信使用不必是视距的无线电信号。
数字AV接收机配备有一个根据主电视信号产生副电视信号的编码器。RCU将副电视信号解码后在触敏显示屏上显示。AV接收机和RCU都配备有带宽足以从AV接收机向RCU传载经代码转换的信号和从RCU向AV接收机传载用户命令的无线通信装置。

具体实施方式
系统综述
图4示出了按照本发明设计的AV系统400。系统400接收通过线缆、卫星或地面装置传来的电视(TV)信号101。AV接收机600将TV信号解码后在电视屏幕120上显示。
从主到副TV信号的代码转换
接收机600还将输入信号提供给音频/视频/ITV编码器420。我们将这个信号称为主TV信号401。主TV信号的格式基本上如在电视屏幕120上看到的格式那样。编码器420将主TV信号401编码成格式适合在RCU 500上解码和显示的副TV信号402,如下面要详细说明的那样。我们将主-副TV信号的转换称为“代码转换”。
第一无线收发器441具有足以将经编码的副TV信号402发送给RCU 500的第二无线收发器442的带宽。无线收发器441-442还用来将诸如频道选择、音量控制和交互命令之类的命令从RCU 500传送给AV接收机600。这些命令由RCU 500的遥控功能块510产生。RCU 500还包括解码器520和触敏显示器530。用户响应解码块430对RCU命令解码,以由接收机600进一步处理。命令在发送给接收机600前在RCU 500中被编码540。
遥控单元
图5示出了按照本发明设计的RCU 500。除了传统的RCU功能块510之外,RCU还配备有触敏显示器530、基于诸如蓝牙之类的技术的无线收发器442、去复用器550、音频解码器561、视频解码器562、ITV命令解码器563、诸如耳机插头之类的音频输出端口570、图形覆盖混合器580和处理器590。
RCU 500通过无线数据收发器441-442接收被代码转换成副TV信号402的经编码的视频、音频和ITV数据。去复用器550将副TV信号的经编码的数据去复用后分别传送给适当的解码器561-563。取决于系统的配置和数字AV接收机600和RCU 500的能力,RCU可以只接收经代码转换的具有以显示坐标的形式捕获用户交互的指令的视频。
覆盖混合器580将经解码的副TV信号与ITV解码器563产生的任何文本或图形混合在一起。在显示主TV信号的同时,覆盖混合器580的输出在触敏显示器530上显示。如果在接收数据内存在音频数据,音频解码器561对该数据解码后将音频信号输出给耳机输出端570。任何用户交互由用户响应编码功能块540适当编码后通过无线连接403传送给数字AV接收机600。
在本发明的一个实施例中,RCU 500接收的副TV信号402为MPEG-4“简单概况(simple profile)”格式,音频使用低比特率高级音频编码(AAC),而ITV命令为MPEG-4系统景物二进制格式(BIFS)。ITV命令可以包括报告显示屏上用户通过接触屏幕530与之交互的点的坐标的指令。
AV接收机
图6示出了按照本发明设计的支持遥控用户界面的AV接收机600。除了传统的数字AV接收机功能块之外,该AV接收机还配备有音频代码转换器611、视频代码转换器612、ITV命令代码转换器613、复用器620、无线收发器441和用户响应解码功能块430。
代码转换器611-613接收来自相应的解码器351-353的输入。音频解码器输出经解码的数据,而音频代码转换器以例如较低的比特率对经解码的音频重新编码。
视频代码转换器接收经部分解码的比特流,将它代码转换成格式不同的例如空间分辨率较低、时间率较低和/或比特率较低的视频。参见例如在这里引用作为参考的Sun等人的用于降低速率的“Architectures for MPEG compressed bitstream scaling”(IEEETransactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology,1996年4月)和Vetro等人2001年5月11日递交的美国专利申请No.09/853,394“Video Transcoder with Spatial Resolution Reduction”。
ITV应用采用MPEG-4系统BIFS格式,被适当地代码转换为BIFS的一个较小的子集。这些经代码转换的数据被复用620后通过无线数据收发器传送给RCU 500。AV接收机用无线数据收发器接收在RCU 500上输入的用户响应。用户响应解码功能块430将从RCU 500接收到的用户响应处理后转送给遥控输入处理器320以按RCU功能进行操作,或者转送给ITV命令解码器353以按用户对交互应用的响应进行操作。
传送给RCU的经代码转换的副内容不必包括所有音频、视频和ITV应用这三个成分。在最简单的形式中,只用视频,视频与覆盖图形一起被编码成MPEG-4视频格式,而ITV命令设置成接收用户在RCU触敏显示屏上交互(接触)的点的坐标。数字AV接收机上的用户响应解码功能块和ITV命令解码器将该交互点解释为一个交互事件,如果这个点处在电视上所显示的任何交互元上的话。
应用
图7a-c示出了使用本发明的一个示例性应用情形。图7a示出了如在电视上看到的电视游戏节目的例子,具有供用户参与游戏节目的交互TV应用。用户可以选择答案A、B、C和D中的一个答案,而且还可以选择一个链接以购买带有游戏节目标识的衬衫。
采用按照本发明设计的RCU 500,经代码转换的游戏节目应用可以发送给RCU 500显示。图7b示出了在RCU上显示的比例缩小了的视频和应用。数字AV接收机可以用两种方式之一将内容代码转换成比例缩小了的应用。
图形和覆盖混合器的视频输出由视频代码转换器编码成MPEG-4视频格式,而不用ITV应用成分。在这种情况下,RCU不用它的ITV解码器处理用户响应,只是将交互点的坐标发回给接收机。
或者,也可以是分别对视频和ITV应用进行代码转换,而在RCU上的解码处理后再复合。在这种情况下,RCU可以处理用户响应,将完全的用户响应传送回接收机。在这两种情况下在RCU上显示的图像是相同的。
图7c示出了如在RCU显示屏上所看到的内容。在RCU上的复合图像不含有比例缩小了的视频。在这种情况下,视频和音频都不由数字AV接收机代码转换,只有内容中的交互元经代码转换后传送给RCU。RCU上的ITV解码器对ITV命令进行解码,将文本和图形显示在RCU显示屏上。
虽然本发明是以优选实施例为例进行说明的,但应理解在本发明的精神实质和范围内可以作出各种适配和修改。因此,所附权利要求书涵盖了在本发明的精神实质和范围内的所有这样的变更和修改。

Claims (11)

1. 一种视听系统,所述视听系统包括:
接收机,配置成接收和显示具有第一格式的主电视信号;
代码转换装置,用来将第一格式的主电视信号代码转换成具有第二格式的副电视信号;以及
遥控单元,用来控制接收机,被配置成接收副电视信号并与所述显示主电视信号同时显示所述副电视信号。
2. 权利要求1的视听系统,所述视听系统还包括:
连接接收机和遥控单元的无线射频链路。
3. 权利要求1的视听系统,其中所述代码转换装置还包括:
在接收机内的编码器;以及
在遥控单元内的解码器。
4. 权利要求1的视听系统,其中所述遥控单元还包括:
触敏屏。
5. 权利要求4的视听系统,其中利用所述触敏屏来输入用户输入。
6. 权利要求4的视听系统,其中所述遥控单元还包括:
用来对用户输入编码的装置。

在一个接收机内,接收和显示具有第一格式的主电视信号;
将第一格式的主电视信号代码转换成具有第二格式的副电视信号;以及
在该接收机的一个遥控单元内,接收和显示所述副电视信号。
