Description
本发明涉及月经塞、外科及伤口敷料和绷带、外科海绵、卫生保键的吸水材料和尿布(diaper)(以下统称吸水垫);本发明特别地涉及这种衬垫,在使用中,可充分有效地阻止引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L及其它毒性葡萄球菌产物的产生;本发明还涉及这类衬垫的制造方法。
多年来应用包括非水溶性吸水固体材料的吸水垫制成各种构型用于伤口或填塞体腔,以吸收及保留体液。棉纤维及半合成纤维,如纤维素衍生物,包括醋酸纤维,粘胶纤维,聚丙烯酸酯纤维,聚氨酯,聚酯及其它纤维已广泛应用于制造这类吸水垫及各种非纤维的吸水材料,尤其是纤维素衍生物,如羧甲基纤维素,合成的聚合物如水可溶胀能形成水凝胶的交联聚合物,聚氨酯海绵等等。虽然这类吸水垫具有较强吸收和储留液体的特性并因此而延长了使用吸水垫的保护作用周期,但这种延长增加了在吸水垫附近发生细菌繁殖和产生毒素的机会。特别是月经塞这种情况。中毒性休克综合症是一种严重的疾病,它与引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L(一种葡萄球菌产生的毒素)有关,它与所使用的月经塞的品种及鼻腔和其他外科敷料有关。
目前已发现血液等体液中的镁离子浓度低至通常所具有的浓度以下时,就是最适宜产生中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L和其他葡萄球菌产物(有些会有毒)的关键。还发现各种吸水垫材料具有吸附或结合镁离子的能力。
本发明提供了一种包括吸水性材料和一定量无毒二价阳离子盐的吸水垫,主要为月经塞,使用该吸水垫,可充分有效地阻止产生引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L及其他葡萄球菌产物。对制造吸水垫的方法,即用整块非水溶性吸水固体材料制作吸水垫时,本发明也提供了改进之处,它包括把一定量无毒二价阳离子盐加入上述整块材料以充分有效地阻止使用该衬垫时产生引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L和其他葡萄球菌产物。本发明还提供了一种包括吸水性固体材料的吸水垫的制造方法,该方法包括将足量无毒二价阳离子加入上述材料,以使该材料对镁离子的吸附或结合能力达到饱和,并将该材料制成上述衬垫,即本发明提供了一种主要用于月经塞的吸水垫,其自身的镁离子吸附或结合能力已为无毒二价阳离子所饱和。
为了供给所需量的二价阳离子以使吸水垫材料的镁离子吸附或结合能力达到饱和,可使用任何能充分水溶的无毒盐。吸附或结合能力随衬垫所表现的其特定材料的特性及在不同情况下所采取的制造工艺过程而变化。例如,聚丙烯酸酯人造纤维,每克纤维只要1000微克或更少的醋酸镁就足够了。虽然任何无毒二价阳离子盐均可用于本发明的吸水垫中,因为任何盐可提供离子与自然存在于体液中的镁离子相竞争,并使该衬垫材料对镁离子的吸附或结合能力达到饱和,但本发明的结果是由镁盐所得到的。通常,应用不超过无衬垫时自然存在于体液中的盐浓度水平的盐就足以使衬垫的镁离子吸附或结合能力达到饱和,有效地阻止引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L和其它毒性葡萄球菌产物的产生。适用的盐类包括镁盐、钙盐、钡盐或锶盐等优先采用的盐,其他二价阳离子盐还有锌、锰、铜、铁、镍等类似盐类。该盐的阴离子部分并不重要,可广泛变动,因其在水中很小的溶解度就足以达到本发明的目的。适用的盐类包括氯盐、硫酸
盐、硝酸盐、醋酸盐、软脂酸盐、硬脂酸盐、扁桃酸盐、马尿酸盐等类似盐类,常优先使用其镁盐,尤其是硬脂酸镁和醋酸镁。
通过整个衬垫在盐的水溶液中浸渍或盐的扩散作用,可以使盐结合到月经塞中,但通常更方便和更有效的方法是在衬垫中的材料溶合期间或这之前在制造流程的某几处用所需盐对一个或更多的组成材料进行处理。例如,对合成纤维材料来说,可以使纤维通过一个溶有适用盐的水池,也可以使纤维通过一对加有盐溶液的压水辊。优先用于合成纤维的盐是硬脂酸镁,因为它可使纤维加工过程更方便。也可仅在衬垫的某个部位溶合所需盐,如外层覆盖物,以使其在使用条件下处于适宜于分散或扩散到衬垫需要使其镁离子吸附或结合能力达到饱和的部位。但最好在使用衬垫之前,首先饱和衬垫各部分的镁离子吸附或结合能力。
超过使吸水材料的镁离子吸附或结合能力饱和所需盐量的过量盐并无害处,为阻止产生毒素所用的盐量也没有严格的上限。
虽然并不企图将本发明局限于任何特殊理论或作用方式之内,但可以相信,一种或多种用于制造类似于月经塞这样的衬垫的吸水性固体材料对镁离子有充分吸附或特异结合的能力,足以使体液中的正常镁离子浓度降低到使引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L和其他毒性葡萄球菌产物产生剧增的临界下限。本发明正是起消除这种能力的作用。
Claims (8)
1、一种月经塞,主要由具有镁结合能力的吸水性材料和一定量无毒二价阳离子水溶性盐构成,在使用所述月经塞时,后者足以有效地阻止引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L的产生。
2、根据权利要求1所述的月经塞,其中所述二价镁阳离子的用量至少足以使所述月经塞的镁结合能力达到饱和。
3、根据权利要求2所述的月经塞,其中所述盐是硬脂酸镁。
4、根据权利要求2所述的月经塞,其中的盐是乙酸镁。
5、一种由一块吸水的非水溶性固体材料制成具有镁结合能力的月经塞的方法,其改进之处主要包括使所述材料含有一定量无毒水溶性二价镁阳离子盐,后者在使用所述月经塞时足以有效地阻止引起中毒性休克综合症的毒素-L的产生。
6、根据权利要求5所述的方法,其中所述镁阳离子的用量至少足以使所述月经塞的镁结合能力达到饱和。
7、根据权利要求6所述的方法,其中所述盐是硬脂酸镁。
8、根据权利要求7所述的方法,其中所述盐是乙酸镁。
