Abstract

La presente invención hace referencia a un dispositivo de electrólisis y a un procedimiento para operar una electrólisis de agua con al menos una celda de electrólisis, en donde la celda de electrólisis comprende un compartimento anódico con un ánodo y un compartimento catódico con un cátodo. El compartimento anódico está separado del compartimento catódico mediante una membrana de intercambio de protones. El compartimento anódico es adecuado para absorber agua y oxidarla en el ánodo conformando un primer producto que comprende oxígeno y el compartimento catódico es adecuado para absorber agua y reducirla en el cátodo conformando un segundo producto que comprende hidrógeno. El dispositivo de electrólisis comprende, además, un primer dispositivo de separación de gases para separar oxígeno; en donde el primer dispositivo de separación de gases para realizar una circulación natural de agua está dispuesto encima de la celda de electrólisis.
