Abstract

Un aparato y método para determinar la posición de una herramienta de perforación durante la perforación. El aparato (11) comprende una fuente magnética (13) montada a una herramienta de perforación rotativa (8) y, por lo menos, dos magnetómetros (12) los cuales se ubican fuera del agujero perforado (2). Un dato de detección del campo magnético rotativo es transmitido desde los magnetómetros a una unidad de control (CU) provista con un algoritmo de cálculo de posición (21). La unidad de control está también provista con el dato de posición del magnetómetro (25) y una posición de referencia de la herramienta de perforación (27). La unidad de control compara el dato de detección recibido cuando la herramienta de perforación está en la posición de referencia y cuando es movida hacia una nueva posición. Los ángulos de fase se detectan luego del dato de detección. El algoritmo utiliza los ángulos de fase y las posiciones conocidas de los magnetómetros y el punto de referencia cuando calcula la posición cambiada.
