Un método para tratar pulpa química, método en el cual: se produce pulpa cociendo astillas de madera en un proceso de cocción alcalina hasta un número kappa de 50-120, preferentemente 60-100, la pulpa cocida es lavada, la pulpa lavada es llevada a una etapa de oxígeno en donde la pulpa es tratada en presencia de oxigeno y álcali para extraer lignina, y la pulpa tratada con oxígeno es lavada, con lo cual se forma un filtrado de lavado que contiene lignina, y la pulpa es lavada, caracterizado porque: en la etapa de oxígeno, el número kappa de la pulpa disminuye al menos en 30 unidades, y el filtrado del lavado aguas abajo de la etapa de oxígeno es tratado para separar la lignina, y el filtrado tratado es llevado como líquido de lavado al interior del aparato de lavado para la pulpa cocida.
