Elektrisch isolierendes Rohrstück in Hochvakuumleitungen.
Es ist nun Gegenstand der Erfindung ein elektrisch isolierendes Rohrstück- in Hoch- vakuumleitungen, in dessen Innern rlünnwa.n- dige Blenden eingesetzt sind, deren Offnun- gen gegeneinander versetzt sind. Bewegt;
I>d,.</I></B><I> ..</I> dienen.
Electrically insulating pipe section in high vacuum lines. It is often of high technical value to electrically isolate eolir lines in high vacuum systems from each other, especially when one part of the high vacuum system is under high voltage, while the other part should be accessible for constant operation and maintenance.
This is the case, for example, in large-scale rectifier systems, in which the large-scale rectifier is connected to a high-val @ uumpurripe through pipelines that transfer the high direct current potential of the rectifier to the high-vacuum pump, so that the high-vacuum pump has the full track current voltage to ground must be set up in isolation.
ll ', in itself simple means is now e nui, ss Fig. 1, the electrical insulation of the various parts a and b of the system against each other by installing a pipe section made of insulating mate rial c. This means is - # virl; sam as long as there is really a high vacuum in the pipeline.
As soon as the vacuum deteriorates, the so-called spark voltage, that is the voltage sufficient for flashover, initially decreases and can reach a value that is below the DC voltage of the rectifier. If this occurs, a flashover takes place inside the insulating piece in the form of a continuous arc which raises the pump system to the potential of the rectifier and thus endangers it.
If the pressure increases further, the spark voltage increases again, but the arc, once it is present, will stop even if the pressure increases further. The IC curve of the spark voltage has the course shown by FIG.
In this figure - (J means the spark voltage. This is plotted as a function of the product <I> p </I> # <I> x </I>, where p is the gas pressure, x the electrode 1 (i.e. in In the present case, the length a -stance of the insulating piece means, as can be seen from FIG. 2, there is a critical value p-x at which the spark voltage becomes a minimum.
In normal operation, the system works below the value p # x (crit.), So that when the vacuum deteriorates, the spark voltage initially tends to reach its minimum value.
It is the task of the present invention to design the electrically insulated pipe section in such a way that the security against overturning is increased, so that under conditions prevailing in the air, even if the vacuum deteriorates, the spark voltage is not less than the direct current voltage of the Rectifier is. To achieve this, use can be made of a known phenomenon which occurs when diaphragms are used that are built into the vacuum line.
In Fig. 3, a piece of the vacuum line is shown, in the sen interior of the aperture d with the aperture o is located. If the diaphragm is made of thin sheet metal, for example, it offers practically no resistance to a gas flowing in the pipe if the mean free path of the gas molecules is large or approximately equal to the diameter of the pipe. This is true for the Va kua. which prevail in the rectifier during normal operation.
By installing one or more diaphragms, the resistance to the gas flow is not increased, but it can be achieved by preventing the electrons from being able to pass through the tube unhindered. This means, however, that when the screens are used, the spark voltage is applied substantially empty.
The subject matter of the invention is an electrically insulating pipe section in high-vacuum lines, inside of which circular orifices are inserted, the openings of which are offset from one another. Emotional;
With this arrangement, an electrical egg is routed parallel to the axis of the tube through a diaphragm opening, it does not immediately reach the opening of the following diaphragm, but rather it hits the wall of the next diaphragm with great speed, unr he is doing here. a large part of its kinetic energy is lost.
An embodiment of the subject invention is shown by Fig .l; shown. In Fig. L- the meaning of the letters is the same as in Fig. 1. Furthermore, ring-shaped inserts e made of insulating material are provided, which are used to distance the diaphragms d1, d2, <B> <I> d,. </ I> </B> <I> .. </I> serve.
The openings of these diaphragms o1, 02, <I> 03, </I> 04 are eccentric, and the odd-numbered openings 01, 03, 05 and the even-numbered openings o .., o4, o @ are each in one direction Pipe axis parallel straight lines, arranged against each other but offset by <B> 180 '</B>
Every electron that wants to get from a to <I> b </I> has to make the zigzag path through the openings o1, o2, o3 ...... On the one hand, this means a lengthening of the path to be traveled by the electrons; on the other hand, the kinetic energy of the electron is consumed in the repeated impact on the diaphragm, so that the impact of the electrons hitting the electrode is greatly reduced.
The tube c can be made of porcelain, glass or some other suitable insulating material and is clamped between the two flails a and b with a high vacuum. The length .r, of this insulating tube is dimensioned in such a way that the heat protection required to prevent a harmful glow discharge at atmospheric pressure is present.
The panels d are also best made of insulating material: and spaced a small distance from one another. They can also be arranged so as to be isolated from one another and should, as far as possible, connect to the inner wall of the insulating tube.
