Electromagnetic writing box for dictation phonographs, telephonographs and similar apparatus. The membrane of electro-magnetic writing boxes for dictation phonographs, teleplionographs and similar devices is known to be subject to various demands.
First, the permanent attraction of the permanent magnet bends the membrane towards the poles; furthermore, the pressure with which the writing lift rests against the roller when at rest causes an opposite pull on the membrane through the attached writing lever mechanism; Furthermore, the mechanical vibrations of the membrane caused by the electrical currents exert a constantly changing stress; Finally, the moment of inertia that occurs as a result of the current surges acts.
In the long run, the flexibility of the membrane cannot cope with the interaction of all these stresses, and a permanent change in shape occurs, which is usually referred to as "master". As a result of this master's training, resonances occur in the vibrations of the membrane, which impair the functioning of the writing box to the point of being completely unusable.
The invention relates to an electromagnetic writing box in which these inconveniences are eliminated in that the electromagnet has a rod-shaped armature with which the writing lever system is coupled.
In the drawing, three execution examples are illustrated. 1 and 2 show the first embodiment in side and front view. Figs. 3 and 4 respectively. 5 and 6 illustrate the second and third exemplary embodiment, each seen in side view and from below.
The strong, permanent magnetic system 1 carries the electronic magnet coils 3 on its poles 2, through which the current oscillations flow. The armature 4 is arranged in front of the poles 2 and is mounted in a particularly peculiar manner in order to achieve the intended effect. The storage of the armature 4 is designed in the manner of a beam on two supports with loading by a single load. Both supports can be the same or. be designed differently, it is essential that the armature, which is bent by the magnetic force as a single load, is held at the smallest possible distance from the magnet pole 2.
As FIG. 2 shows, for example, the armature 4 is rotatably mounted on one side at 5 like a lever; At the other end, a more or less flexible tongue 6 is attached to the anchor, which it supports on an abutment 7.
The aim of this is to ensure that the anchor can only vibrate as a result of its ability to bend like a beam on two supports. For this reason, the pivot bearing 5 can also be replaced by an abutment in the manner of the abutment 7, only the pivot bearing has the advantage that it suppresses twisting of the armature transversely to its longitudinal direction.
The pivot bearing 5 is provided on a bracket 16, on which screws 17 between two tips of the armature 4 is held. The abutment 7 consists of a cutting edge or point 18 against which the end of the tongue 6 rests. In order to be able to set the armature 4 at a coarser or smaller distance from the magnetic poles 2, the cutting edge or tip 18 has an adjustment device which can be designed as desired. As can be seen from FIG. 2; For example, the tip 18 with its lower shaft can be screwed more or less into the bracket 19, whereby the distance between the armature 4 and the poles 2 is changed.
The Schreibhebelsy system is arranged transversely zuin An ker -1 and consists in a known manner of a mounted on the bracket 8 He bel 9, which serves to absorb the fluctuations of the phonograph cylinder. With this lever, the actual friction lever 10 is articulated at 11. The pen 12 sits at one end, while a pull rod 13 engages at the other end, which connects the writing lever 10 to the anchor.
The rod 13 is articulated at 14 am_nker 4, that is to say in the vicinity of the position where the magnets 2, 3 exert their effect on the armature 4. To store the whole writing box, the block 15 connects to the slide for moving the writing box along the roller, which is not shown because of its known design.
The way in which the anchor works is that it bends as a result of the magnetic force of attraction, like a beam on two supports with a single load. Since the magnetic force is predominantly stronger than the train of the attached writing lever system, the pressure exerted by the writing lever attached can be ignored.
Due to the magnetic force, the armature experiences deflections that change as a result of the current oscillations that excite the electromagnet and are transferred to the writing lever system, with its pen writing the characters recorded in the phonograph roller. To increase the sensitivity, the abutment 7 must be set in such a way that the distance between the armature 4 and the magnetic poles 2 is as small as possible without having to fear sticking.
To regulate the deflection of the armature in a very specific ratio to the current oscillations, the tongue 6 is to be chosen more or less flexible. For the reception of speech currents, an anchor with a natural frequency is expediently used, which is far above the number of vibrations occurring in speech. At the same time, the best possible damping of the armature must be provided in order to flatten the resonance curve. For the recording of radio telegraphic characters, it is advantageous to tune the armature to a very specific natural frequency so that current oscillations of other frequencies cannot cause interference.
Various means can be used for this purpose. It is useful to design the writing boxes for a certain frequency range from the outset and to fine-tune them by setting them within the limits given thereby.
To make the writing box usable for a larger frequency operation, the tongue f can have a corresponding elastic strength either by its thickness or by its width, or in the case of the abutment 7, the scabbard or tip 18 can be replaced by a surface.
Finer adjustments can be achieved by setting the abutment 7 in such a way that the armature 4 is more or less approached to the poles 2, with the effect that the damping is changed by the magnetic field.
If necessary, other damping means known per se can also be used, for example mechanical ones which directly dampen the movement of the armature. By lengthening or shortening the armature as a result of the lateral displacement of the abutment 7, for which purpose the bracket 19 is finitely provided with a laterally displacing adjusting device, its natural frequency can also be changed.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4, the armature 9 is finitely provided with an extension 20 which projects beyond the bearing 5 and which lies against a pressure pad 21. The pressure pad 21 consists of a foot 22 in which, by means of a shaft 23, a socket 4 can be arranged.
The socket 24 carries a soft insert 5, which, when the barrel 24 is appropriately adjusted, for example by means of a screw thread on the shaft 23, gently presses against the extension 20. By adjusting the pressure cushion, damping occurs in the sense that the natural oscillations of the armature are suppressed, while all other armature vibrations occur aperiodically in accordance with the supplied current vibrations.
The pressure pad 21 can also be arranged above the extension 20 of the armature, so that it presses in the opposite direction against the armature, but the effect is approximately the same. is. What is essential is the contact of a fixed point with an elastic intermediate layer against any point on the anchor, through which damping of the anchor properties is achieved.
Another embodiment of the pressure pad is shown in FIGS. 5 and 6. This is all a bridge 26 which is placed over the magnet system and the armature. attached and is supported against the back of the armature 4. The pressure pad also consists here of the shaft 2 3, the socket 24 and the oak insert 25. The base 22 provided for adjusting the shaft 23 is attached under half of the bridge 26.
The same purpose can also be achieved in that it is not the armature itself, but rather a part firmly connected to it that is inhibited by a cushioning pad. One embodiment may consist in that the coupling rod 1.3 acting on the Schreibhebelsy stone with the armature 4 is not articulated, but by means of a screw 29 is firmly connected and this rod is guided between cork pads. is as indicated in FIG. 5 at 28.
These pads can be attached to a bridge similar to 26, for example.
