Description
Product intended to replace leather, waterproof canvas, etc., and process for its manufacture. The present invention relates to a product for replacing leather, impermeable canvas and to a process for the manufacture of the product.
The product is characterized in that it is formed from used rubberized fabrics, put in the form of bands.
The process is characterized in that the used rubberized fabrics are washed, flattened, boiled, stretched. vrilcanisc @ es and in a hurry.
The product according to the invention can be used with advantage for the manufacture of transmission belts, gaskets, harnesses, saddlery articles, tarpaulins, shed and wagon covers, equipment (military and others), soles and heels. shoes, sprinkler and fire hoses, hoods and fittings for vehicle damage, tops of galoshes etc.
To obtain it, one could proceed, for example, in the following way. Used rubberized casings, for example vehicle tires, undergo everything. first a little washing and a small brush to get rid of the mud and external dust.
They then pass in a bath of pure water at 100 for about ten minutes, after which the heels of the bandages, unnecessary for the manufacture of the product, are cut; their rubber is recovered and can be used for subsequent vulcanization or for any other use.
It therefore remains a titi skeleton composed of several cotton cloths glued on top of each other during the manufacture of bandages and wraps. This skeleton, which still retains the original shape, is then flattened, and over the constituent canvases the bias of 4b is made.
To do this, the recovered strip is boiled for 15 minutes in pure water in order to soften it, and it is then subjected to a special expander which gives it a length of:? H to 30 ";" o.
After cooling, carefully mounted <1, flat on a sheet metal drum, the strips are autoclaved. .daughters are vulcanized to a degree which varies with the qualities to be obtained, and those of the raw material. They are then allowed to cool, and absolutely flat strips are obtained which are then passed through a press, acting at a rate of approximately 100 hg per square centimeter.
These various operations make it possible to obtain the bands ready for all the uses indicated above, after cutting, stapling, sewing etc. The product can obviously, depending on its destination, be dyed and varnished.
It should be understood, moreover, that the above indications are in no way limiting and that it will be possible, while remaining within the scope of the invention, to make the detailed arrangements as much as possible, according to the different cases. individuals.
