Description

Device allowing to automatically maintain the same voltage at two AC power stations coupled in parallel by means of a feeder. When two alternating current generating plants located at a certain distance from each other have to be coupled in parallel, certain difficulties arise in achieving the exchange of power without altering the consistency of the power. the voltage at the two plants. These difficulties are due to the magnitude of the impedance of the feeder which connects the two plants.

To make it possible to automatically maintain the same voltage at two similar alternating current power stations, coupled in parallel by means of a feeder and between which it is proposed to exchange a watted and dewatted power according to a variable rate at will, a generator series with collector is, according to the invention, inserted in series in the coupling feeder and automatically compensates the impedance of this feeder.

It is known that such a machine, driven at constant speed, has a constant impedance. By suitably sizing its windings and by giving the brushes an appropriate offset, it is possible to ensure that this impedance is equal in value ab solute, and in the opposite direction, the impedance has compeii-wr. Whatever the intensity of the current in the feeder, the machine will then compensate exactly for the olimic and undue drop in this feeder, and everything will happen as if the two factories were in the immediate vicinity.

For example, the machine will be implemented as follows: Each phase of the feeder will pass through the phases of the stator winding, the rotor will be excited by the secondary of a trainer whose primary will be in series with the feeder, we more simply by means of a special auxiliary winding, of suitable dimensions and suitably arranged on the stator.

For polyphase current. we will have the advantage to adopting a neighboring speed (the synchronous speed.

For said single-phase current, 011 may employ a series collector generator of any type, for example, a with repulsion eoiiipeii. ,,, c-e Latour generator. The machine can be driven in any way; it will be driven for example by means of an independent motor, or by placing it at the end of the shaft of an alternator of one of the two power plants to to be coupled.
