Bezugnehmend auf die in Fig. 2 gezeigte Vorrichtung ist es ersichtlich, dass, da der Zylinderwelle f mittelst des mit Bezug auf Fig. 1 besclirirl;

Hammering machine based on the Nasmith system for combing cotton or other textile fibers. In the previously usual Nasmith-K.ämni-inasc # hines, the thumb shaft is coupled with the di <s' radelsegniente supporting shaft and extends over the entire length of the machine. This construction has the disadvantage
that the pliers offering the rebukes the cotton in combing come to the most effective position and allow about six rows of front needles to pass before any combing action takes place.
As a result, the working resistance is transferred to the finer needles when the tangled new fibers held by the pliers are opened. which are unable. withstand the train, whereby the machine itself loses a valuable part of its performance.
This disadvantage is generally unlikely, and various inventors have accelerated the movement of the tongs in combing machines according to the Nasmith system in order to allow the tongs for the front rows of needles to move into the most effective position in good time.

a (Fig. 1) Designates the thumb wave. on which the spur gear b is attached by means of a set screw. The wheel b engages in a spur wheel c, on the hub of which an elliptical wheel d is attached. This wheel engages in an Ellipseiira.d e attached to the cylinder, -lerwelle j 'which carries the needle segments.
It can be seen that when the thumb shaft rr rotates at a uniform speed, the cylinder or needle segments rotate finitely at a continuously changing speed in order to circumvent the above-mentioned deficiencies previously associated with the Nasmith combing machines.
Referring to the device shown in Fig. 2, it can be seen that, since the cylinder shaft f besclirirl with reference to Fig. 1;
A variable speed is given to a transmission, and the headstock would also be driven with variable instead of, as usual, with uniform speed, if a device were not provided which counteracts that according to FIG.
Such a counteracting device is shown in FIG. 2; it is set between the cylinder shaft f and the shaft 1z which drives the rollers on the spreading head of the machine. A bevel gear g is attached to the cylinder shaft f, which meshes with a l @ e @ l wheel lt attached to @ I @ r hub i of a spur gear j.
The wheel j engages in a spur gear I;:, on the hub of which an elliptical wheel l is attached. This wheel drives a second elliptical wheel na, -% velches is fastened to the shaft n by means of an adjusting screw. The latter rotates freely in the hub of the wheel j, which is carried by a bearing o.
The other end of the transverse wave n drives the rollers of the stretching head in the usual way. The journals q iFib. 1) and p (Fig.?) Are attached to a non-olefin support.
