The subject of the present invention is a beehive, in which a regulating vessel is in communicating connection with the feeder of a beehive, into which the outlet of a storage container for feed liquid that is closed on all sides and an air line opening in the space above the latter lead, from which the latter leads The air inlet end, protruding from top to bottom, is at the level of the food bowl, so that when the liquid in the mentioned regulating vessel reaches the inlet opening of the air line,
the access of air to the storage container and thereby also the outflow of the liquid from it is interrupted.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention for a three-story apiary is shown schematically in the drawing.
It denotes 1 the boxes with the flat food dishes 2, in each of which a tube 3 opens from below. The pipes 3 of the feeders of each floor branch off from a common line It. Each of these lines 4 goes with a slight slope, not shown in the drawing, of an open-top regulating vessel 5, respectively. 6, respectively. 7, which is provided with a drain cock 11. The outlet pipe 9, which can be closed by a tap 8, of a storage container 10 for feed liquid, which is closed on all sides, opens from above into the uppermost vessel.
To fill it in, the storage container has a filler neck 12. The feed liquid enters the middle vessel 6 through an overflow line 13 from the vessel 5 and into the lowest vessel 7 through an overflow line 14 from the middle vessel Below vessels G and 7, the feed liquid arrives from the storage container in an inclusive way. In each of the vessels 5, 6 and 7 protrudes from above an air duct 15, respectively.
16. resp. 17. These pipes are connected by a common air line 18 with the space above the feed liquid in the storage tank. The upper two pipes 15 and 16 have their lower mouths a little below the upper mouths of the overflow lines 13 and 14, so that when the liquid in the vessels 5 and 6 is filled to the overflow, the air connection between the Before storage container 10 and the vessels 5 and 6 is interrupted.
If the feed liquid then finally rises in the lowest vessel 7 up to the mouth of the pipe 17, this is also closed and the subsequent flow of air into the storage container is prevented according to the amount of feed liquid flowing out of it. However, as a result of the creation of a negative pressure in the storage container, no more feed liquid can flow out of this into the uppermost vessel 5.
If the feed liquid sinks so far in any of the vessels 5, 6 or 7 that the opening of the relevant tube 15, 16 or 17 becomes free, then air is immediately available again. flow into the storage container, which has the consequence. so that feed liquid flows into the uppermost vessel 5 again.
If it is this in which the liquid level has sunk until the opening of the opening of the pipe 15, the liquid will only flow into the same until this opening is closed again by the liquid; but it is the vessel 6 or 7 in which the liquid is under the coinage of the bet-reffenden air stream 16, respectively. 17 has sunk, the liquid rises in the vessel 5 up to the overflow 13, from which it reaches the Ge f ## 6 and possibly from its overflow 14 into the vessel 7.
If you want to empty the food dishes on a floor, cock 8 is closed and the drain cock 11 of the relevant regulating vessel 5, 6 or 7 is opened. The feed liquid still present in the feeders will then flow back into the regulating vessel due to the slope of the line 4 and flow out of it through the drain cock.
From the above it is evident that the filling of all the feeders in an apiary. however large their number may be and on how many floors they may be distributed, it is always done automatically by the excess pressure of the liquid and the air pressure and, since the mouths of the air lines are at the level of the corresponding bowls Overflow of the feeders can never take place. You only have the status to control the feed liquid in the storage container and only to refill this.
