Description
The invention relates to an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Eine Brennkraftmaschine der eingangs genannten Art ist z.B. in Fig.14 des im Jahr 2010 zu einem Kongress in Bergen veröffentlichten Dokumentes PAPER NO.: 82, «Design and first application of a 2-stage turbocharging system for a medium-speed diesel engine» (Konstruktion und erste Anwendung eines 2-stufigen Turboladersystems für einen Dieselmotor mittlerer Drehzahl) des International Council on Combustion Engines (Internationales Kollegium über Verbrennungsmotoren) beschrieben und hier in einer Teilansicht in Fig. 1 gezeigt. An internal combustion engine of the type mentioned is e.g. in Fig.14 of the document PAPER NO .: 82, published in 2010 at a congress in Bergen, "Design and first application of a 2-stage turbocharging system for a medium-speed diesel engine" (construction and first application of a 2-stage Turbocharger system for a medium speed diesel engine) of the International Council on Combustion Engines and shown here in a partial view in FIG.
The internal combustion engine 1 shown in FIG. 1 is designed as a V-large diesel engine and has on each of its two rows of cylinders a first turbocharger 10, which forms a first charging stage of the internal combustion engine 1 and to rotate about a first axis of rotation R1 equipped impellers (not shown), and a second turbocharger 20, which is connected in series with the first turbocharger 10, so that the second turbocharger 20 forms a second charging stage of the internal combustion engine 1, and for rotating by a second Rotation axis R2 furnished wheels (not shown).
As can be seen from Fig. 1, the first rotation axis R1 and the second rotation axis R2 extend in the same direction, i. run parallel to each other.
In Fig. 1, an exhaust gas flow path P1 and a charge air flow path P2 through the two turbochargers 10, 20 are further shown. According to the exhaust gas flow path P1, exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine 1 first flows into a second exhaust gas turbine 21 of the second turbocharger 20 and performs work there, then flows via an exhaust gas connection line 30 into a first exhaust gas turbine 11 arranged higher than the second exhaust gas turbine 21 of the first turbocharger 10 and performs work there and then flows via an exhaust outlet 12 of the first exhaust gas turbine 11 to an exhaust or chimney (not shown) from.
According to the charge air flow path P2 is sucked via a charge air inlet 16 of a first turbocompressor 15 of the first turbocharger 10 sucked air in the first turbocompressor 15 to low pressure, then flows via a charge air connection line 40 into a lower than the first turbocompressor 15 arranged second turbocompressors 25 of the second turbocharger 20 is compressed in the second turbocompressor 25 to high pressure and is then fed to a charge air inlet (not designated) of the internal combustion engine 1 for combustion.
The problem with the cylinder 2-stage turbocharged engine 1 shown per Fig. 1 is that it builds much wider and higher in relation to a only 1-stage turbocharged engine, which in particular in multi-engine systems with a plurality of alongside juxtaposed internal combustion engines requires additional lateral distance between the internal combustion engines and thus more installation space.
Further, it is not possible due to the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 of the two turbochargers in series of the 2-stage charging usually for reasons of space, both in series turbocharger on a for coupling a consumer (not shown) provided coupling side to arrange the internal combustion engine.
The invention has for its object to provide an internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1, wherein the internal combustion engine has a more compact and thus space-saving arrangement of two mutually connected in series turbocharger a 2-stage charging of the internal combustion engine.
This is achieved with an internal combustion engine according to claim 1. Further developments of the invention are defined in the dependent claims.
The invention relates to an internal combustion engine having a first turbocharger, which forms a first charging stage of the internal combustion engine and which has arranged to rotate about a first axis of rotation impellers, and a second turbocharger, which is connected in series with the first turbocharger, so that the second turbocharger forms a second charging stage of the internal combustion engine, and has the arranged to rotate about a second axis of rotation wheels. The internal combustion engine according to the invention is characterized in that the first axis of rotation and the second axis of rotation extend in different directions.
By the arrangement of the first axis of rotation and the second axis of rotation in different directions, i. a non-parallel arrangement or angular rotation to each other, results in a very compact arrangement of the two turbochargers and thus an effective space utilization with good charge air and exhaust system. The charge air and exhaust gas guide obtained according to the invention in turn results in a high efficiency of the internal combustion engine and thus u.a. a reduced fuel consumption.
Preferably, the first axis of rotation with the second axis of rotation encloses an angle in a range of 70 degrees to 110 degrees. More preferably, the first rotation axis includes an angle in the range of 85 degrees to 95 degrees with the second rotation axis. More preferably, the first axis of rotation with the second axis of rotation encloses an angle of 90 degrees.
According to yet another embodiment of the invention, either the first axis of rotation or the second axis of rotation extends parallel to a rotational axis of a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine. Preferably, the second axis of rotation extends parallel to the axis of rotation of the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine, wherein the first axis of rotation extends perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the crankshaft of the internal combustion engine.
Due to the angular arrangement of the two axes of rotation each other a significantly shorter overall length of the entire internal combustion engine is achieved. Furthermore, a significantly shorter exhaust gas connection line between respective exhaust gas turbines of the two turbochargers can be realized, which reduces the heat losses or energy losses and thus increases the efficiency.
The present invention achieved compact arrangement of the two turbochargers allows space for e.g. Flywheel, clutch and transmission of the internal combustion engine, with which an attachment of the 2-stage supercharger module (the two turbochargers) - without significant increase in space requirements compared to a 1-stage supercharged internal combustion engine - both on a clutch side and on a clutch side of the engine is possible , Furthermore, this does not increase in multi-engine systems and the engine distance compared to 1-stage supercharged internal combustion engines.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the first turbocharger and the second turbocharger are thus arranged on a provided for coupling a consumer clutch side of the internal combustion engine.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, the first turbocharger has a first exhaust gas turbine with a radial exhaust gas input, wherein the second turbocharger has a second exhaust gas turbine with an axial exhaust gas outlet.
This configuration of the exhaust connection between the two exhaust gas turbine advantageously reduces the required space and the required length of the exhaust gas connection line.
The short version of the exhaust gas connection line can be realized in particular by the advantageously different configuration of the exhaust gas inlet of the first exhaust gas turbine and the exhaust gas outlet of the second exhaust gas turbine and the possible exclusively linear or straight course of the exhaust gas connection line.
According to yet another embodiment of the invention, the first turbocharger has a first low-pressure turbocompressors, wherein the second turbocharger has a first turbocompressor downstream high-pressure second turbocompressor, and wherein the second turbocompressor is arranged higher in an operating position of the internal combustion engine the first turbocompressor.
This embodiment of the invention also advantageously supports the reduction of the required installation space.
Power-Plant-Anwendungen) gebildet. According to yet another embodiment of the invention, the internal combustion engine is formed by a large diesel engine for marine applications (e.g., a generator operation on large merchant ships or cruise liners) and / or power plant applications (such as power plant applications).
<tb>Fig. 5<SEP>zeigt eine vergrösserte Teilansicht der Brennkraftmaschine von Fig. 4 .In the following the invention with reference to a preferred embodiment and with reference to the accompanying figures will be described in more detail. <Tb> FIG. 1 <SEP> shows a partial perspective view of an internal combustion engine according to the prior art. <Tb> FIG. 2 <SEP> shows a perspective view of an internal combustion engine according to an embodiment of the invention. <Tb> FIG. 3 <SEP> shows a longitudinal view of the internal combustion engine of FIG. 2. <Tb> FIG. 4 <SEP> shows a side view of the internal combustion engine of FIG. 2. <Tb> FIG. 5 <SEP> is an enlarged partial view of the internal combustion engine of FIG. 4.
In the following, an internal combustion engine 1 according to an embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to FIGS.
The internal combustion engine 1 is designed as a large diesel engine for marine applications (eg a generator operation on large merchant ships or cruise liners) and / or power plant applications (such as power plant applications) and integrated into a multi-engine system (not shown) with a plurality of such internal combustion engines 1 , wherein at least some of the internal combustion engines 1 are arranged alongside one another.
The second turbocharger 20 is connected in series with the first turbocharger 10, so that the second turbocharger 20 forms a second charging stage of the internal combustion engine. The second turbocharger 20 has unillustrated wheels (at least one compressor wheel and at least one turbine runner) arranged for rotation about a second rotational axis R2.
As best seen in Fig. 2, the first rotation axis R1 and the second rotation axis R2 extend non-parallel to each other in different directions. More specifically, the first rotation axis R1 includes an angle of 90 degrees with the second rotation axis R2, the second rotation axis R2 extends parallel to an axis of rotation R3 of a crankshaft 100 of the engine 1, and the first rotation axis R1 is perpendicular to the rotation axis R3 of FIG Crankshaft 100 of the internal combustion engine 1 extends.
FIG. 3 shows a longitudinal view of a coupling counterpart KG of the internal combustion engine 1. As can be seen from the figures, the first turbocharger 10 and the second turbocharger 20 are arranged on the coupling opposite side KG of the internal combustion engine 1. According to the invention, however, the two turbochargers 10, 20 could also be arranged together on a coupling side K of the internal combustion engine 1 provided for coupling a consumer (not shown).
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 to 5, the first exhaust gas turbine 11 of the first turbocharger 10 has a radial exhaust gas inlet 13 and the second exhaust gas turbine 21 of the second turbocharger 20 has an axial exhaust gas outlet 22, wherein the exhaust gas inlet 13 of the first exhaust gas turbine 11 and the exhaust gas outlet 22 of the second exhaust gas turbine 21 via a relatively short and thus low-energy exhaust gas connection line 30 are fluidly connected to each other.
The short version of the exhaust gas connection line 30 is realized in particular by the advantageous different configuration of the exhaust gas inlet 13 of the first exhaust gas turbine 11 and the exhaust gas outlet 22 of the second exhaust gas turbine 21 and thus possible substantially exclusively linear or straight course of the exhaust gas connection line 30.
As best seen in FIG. 3, the second turbocompressor 25 of the second turbocharger 20 is arranged higher in an upright operating position of the internal combustion engine 1 than the first turbocompressor 15 of the first turbocharger 10.
