regolare l'immissione di ossigeno per la respirazione del/della paziente durante il sonno;
registrare la frequenza e la quantità delle apnee del/della paziente in stato di dormiente;
sia nell'indossare la maschera, sia nella sua instabile tenuta durante la notte e sia nell'impossibilità di mettere gli occhiali per leggere e sia di dissetarsi in caso di necessità;
La fascetta di sostegno alla maschera antiapnea, fig. 7, realizzabile in pelle, in stoffa o in altro materiale sintetico, da indossare a mo' di occhiali, con forma oblunga, ed adattabile alla parte inferiore del viso, è costituita da un totale di quattro fori: due fori più grandi, i quali hanno la funzione di collegamento della fascetta alle orecchie, e due fori più piccoli con la funzione dell'inserimento del cuscinetto nasale;
[0008] A) la parte centrale 1 comprende due piccoli fori 2, i quali sono atti all'inserimento del cuscinetto nasale, cuscinetto nasale che collega il tubo e alla macchina (apparato respiratorio);
B) due supporti regolabili 3, che sono constituiti da due grandi fori 4 a forma di asola, i quali sono atti ad essere usati a modo di occhiali per l'applicazione della fascetta sulle orecchie;
i due supporti, passanti dietro la nuca, sono regolabili a seconda della grandezza della testa del/della paziente, fig. 6e 7;
[0001] Object of the present invention is a clamp according to the first claim. Many people in the world suffer from breathing problems. A recurring problem is the danger that when they sleep, they go in apnea for several seconds per minute. These particular patients are affected by the so-called sleep apnea syndrome, that is the set of episodes that cause a dysfunction and a respiratory alteration during the period dedicated to sleep, resulting in a remarkable and unnatural sleepiness during the day. Apnea is a suspension of breath for a period of several seconds. To be included in the syndrome it has been calculated that at least 10 or 15 episodes per night of these anomalies are needed (5 in pediatric age), accompanied by a decrease in oxygen saturation.
[0002] This situation turns out to be very dangerous, because the person suffering from these respiratory problems risks their life during sleep due to a possible heart attack. Those who are personally involved with this problem suffer many discomforts during the night. Whoever is diagnosed with sleep apnea, is prescribed the use of a respiratory mask connected, through a tube, to an electronic apparatus for the supply of oxygen necessary for breathing. During the night this equipment (mask, tube and apparatus) has the following functions:
adjust the oxygen intake for the patient's breathing during sleep;
record the frequency and quantity of the patient's sleep apnea apnea;
collect the data necessary for periodic medical checks.
[0003] The current masks on the market, to be worn almost like a helmet, see fig. 1, 2 and 3, however, do not let the sleep apnea patient quietly sleep.
If it is true that this mask is effective for breathing, on the other hand it shows different negative sides, in particular in the fixation and adaptation of the mask to the patient's face, to be connected to the tube for connection to the antiapnea machine.
Among the many difficulties in wearing the mask, there are further negative aspects:
a) Difficulties during the night:
The current anti-apnea masks on the market wrap almost the entire face of the patient, fig. 1 and 2, since they are composed of so many bands and elements that cover the forehead, the face, the head, the nape, the hair of the patient, fig. 1, 2e 3.
Moreover, these masks cause psychological and physical problems, because the patient cannot sleep freely, and in extreme cases her life is endangered due to the malfunctioning of the respiratory support mask. The patient, while moving during sleep, automatically moves the equipment of the mask placed on the face, causing in turn also the displacement of the nasal pad, positioned in the nostrils, which nasal pad is joined to the connecting tube that collects the scientific medical data.
This situation of movement of the patient during the night has the consequence of moving the connecting tube to the respiratory system. The consequence of uncontrolled movement during the patient's sleep is the disconnection between the mask, the connecting tube and then the respiratory system. This situation causes the patient to have insufficient air needed for respiration to oxygenate the patient's lungs, and in extreme cases with very serious consequences for his health.
b) Difficulty upon awakening:
the patient, removing this mask, presents the face marked by the signs of all the components of the current mask, figg. 1, 2 and 3, which support the breathing tube, connected by the nostrils to the apparatus, resulting in considerable psychological distress.
In general, the appearance of the patient wearing the mask is not very pleasant, since many of those on the market are comparable to a "muzzle for dogs" fig. 2. In particular, the components of the mask designed to hold the respiratory apparatus (tube and machine) cover: the forehead, the cheekbones of the face and the whole head. In removing the mask, besides the visible signs on the face caused by the many elements of the mask, these elements also cause the tearing of the hair, and consequently their fall, fig. 3.
[0004] These negative aspects of the current masks on the market give further enormous problems to the patient:
both in wearing the mask, and in its unstable seal during the night and whether it is impossible to put on the glasses to read and to quench your thirst in case of need;
both in the uninstallation of the mask upon waking up and in the uninstallation that causes the patient psychological and physical discomfort.
[0005] From this state of discomfort for patients suffering from the sleep apnea syndrome, the inventors of the antiapnea machine support band have devised a better solution to the existing masks. They make important changes to the comfort of patients. These changes contribute to improving the functionality of the anti-apnea band application.
The clamp supporting the antiapnea mask, fig 7, which can be made of leather, fabric or other synthetic material, to be worn as glasses, with an oblong shape, and adaptable to the lower part of the face, consists of a total of four holes: two larger holes, which they have the function of connecting the band to the ears, and two smaller holes with the function of inserting the nasal pad;
moreover, the band supporting the antiapnea mask is constituted by a reversible closure (two fixing and closing bands), for example Velcro, adjustable according to the size of the patient's head.
The particular shape of the clamp supporting the antiapnea mask, with a reversible closure and an oblong shape, is well suited to the lower part of the face, and has the function of the stable hold of the connection tube to the antiapnea machine. The tube allows the injection of oxygen for the patient's breathing, to record both the frequencies and quantities of the patient's sleep apnea or in the waking state, and the collection of data necessary for periodic medical checks and for medical treatment.
[0006] This solution has been tested for months with excellent results.
<tb> The figs 1, 2 and 3 show an antiapnea mask commonly given to patients suffering from sleep apnea syndrome, according to the state of the art.
<tb> The figs 4, 5, 6, and 7 show the invention of the support band for the antiapnea mask.
[0007] A detailed description follows of the clamp supporting the antiapnea machine, object of the present invention, to be worn during the night as glasses, fig. 4 and 5, which clamp consists of a single piece with an oblong shape and with three different functional parts, which have the following description: fig. 7.
[0008] A) the central part 1 comprises two small holes 2, which are suitable for inserting the nasal pad, a nasal pad connecting the tube and the machine (respiratory apparatus);
B) two adjustable supports 3, which are constituted by two large holes 4 in the shape of a slot, which are adapted to be used in the manner of glasses for the application of the strap on the ears;
the two supports, passing behind the nape, are adjustable according to the size of the patient's head, fig. 6 and 7;
C) two fastening and closing bands 5, which serve to connect the strap to the neck with a reversible closure function 6 (for example, a Velcro).
The strap supporting the antiapnea machine lightens the psychological weight of the patient, both during the night and when she wakes up, and guarantees the patient a peaceful sleep, not running any danger during the night. Its particular shape has the function of keeping the connection tube to the antiapnea machine stable and safe.
The tube allows the injection of oxygen for the patient's breathing, to record both the frequencies and the quantities of the patient's sleep apnea or in the waking state, and the collection of data necessary for periodic checks medical and medical care.
This strap to support the antiapnea mask allows the patient not to worry about breathing during the night, also allowing the use of glasses to read, to be able to drink a drink or enjoy food without having to remove the entire mask.
[0009] With this clamp supporting the antiapnea mask, the patient can carry out all normal daily functions, and also have a presentable face, accepting and being accepted by others. The state of discomfort, due to the respiratory disorder, must not be a reason for isolation or low self-esteem.
