Description

The present invention is an autonomous back massage device of the spine powered by the human body.

The massager of the present invention has the primary purpose of relieving chronic back pain; secondarily the prevention of premature physical aging of the spine of people at risk.

The back massage apparatus of the present invention is intended for the private health field of concerned persons.

Among the many existing invention patents and comparable to the present invention, it has the novel feature of being longitudinally foldable and include, in addition to the usual rollers, a wide central belt as a treadmill.

Although the concept of back massage apparatus, comparable to the present invention, is of public interest, these devices have the disadvantage of being heavy, bulky and not very mobile which may explain, to date, their lack of popularity.
The present invention claims to minimize these handicaps by designing a foldable, lightweight and movable back massage apparatus.

The description comprises five figures.
Fig. 1: is a simplified overview in perspective of the invention.
Fig. 2 and 3: are schematic views in elevation and profile.
Fig. 4: is a detail view of the joint.
Fig. 5:

is a plan view with a sectional view of this plane.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the massage apparatus comprises two rigid profiles 1 "U" shaped, juxtaposed, end to end, between them by a hinge 7. At the location of the hinge connection 7 of the profiles 1, a tensioner 8 ensures a stable joint whose folding angle P is adaptable to the back flexibility of the user. Each profile 1 is traversed horizontally and perpendicularly to its length by a series of axes 2 and 3 rigid. The series of axes 2 and 3 consists of short axes 3 and 2 long. These axes are distributed, in the horizontal plane, parallel to each other and alternately along the profiles 1. The axes 2 and 3 laterally crossing the profiles 1 and are in free rotation.

The short axes 3 are transversely located inside the profiles 1. The long axes 2 symmetrically exceed the sides of the profiles 1. On the axes 2 and 3 are "skewered" concentrically a pair of tennis balls 4 located horizontally to the inside the profiles 1. The parallel space between axes 2 and 3 is conditioned by the diameter of the tennis balls. On the long axes 2 in addition to the pair of tennis balls located inside the profiles 1 "intermesh" concentrically at each end a short roll 5, semi-rigid material, of greater diameter than the balls of tennis, located horizontally outside the profiles 1.

The vertical positioning of the axes 2 and 3 must be as close to the upper edge of the profiles 1 so that the tennis balls 4 and the rollers 5 exceed the maximum in height the profiles 1. A flat belt 6 of elastic material of the internal width of the profiles 1, longitudinally encircling the set of tennis balls 4 thus forming a kind of "treadmill".

The balls 4, the rollers 5 and the belt 6 thus constitute the massage elements.

For example, this "bed" massage can be supported at the appropriate height of the ground by folding crutches or removable whose particular features are left to the care of the manufacturer.

[0008] The invention comes into operation when a person (FIG 2) lies on the "bed" of massage while taking support with his feet on the support bar, attached to the lower crutches of the "bed ", then exercises a flexion of the knees resulting, due to the inclination to the ground of the" bed ", a sliding of his back down and vice versa when the person lengthens his legs. The inclination towards the ground is adjusted by means of the rear stand.

The direct effect of massage is caused by the scrolling and bilateral pressure, at the backbone, of rotating tennis balls underlying the "treadmill". This exercise back and forth back on the "treadmill", provides in this way an autonomous massage of the spine of the person thus making use of the present invention.
