Bezeichnungsliste

The present invention relates to a camshaft assembly having an inner camshaft and an outer camshaft coaxial therewith, the two camshafts rotatable with each other, but with respect to their relative rotational position against each other adjustable by a certain angle and are arranged so that at least one cam of the outer camshaft in the axial direction is arranged between two cams of the inner camshaft.
Camshaft assemblies having two counter-variable camshafts may be used to advantage in internal combustion engines, with one camshaft having one, e.g. the intake valves and with the other camshaft the exhaust valves are controlled. Due to the adjustability of the two camshafts against each other, the phase angle between the opening of the two valve groups mentioned vary and thereby dynamically adapt to the respective load situation. State of the art
Adjustable camshaft orders have already been proposed in large numbers.
For example, a camshaft arrangement of the aforementioned type is already known from US Pat. No. 4,771,742. In this slot-like openings are provided in the outer cam shaft through which protrude the cam of the inner cam shaft only with its eccentric part to the outside. Incidentally, the lateral surface of these cams extends within the outer camshaft, which engages over the cams of the inner shaft in this area. The lateral surface of the cam of the inner shaft is insofar only partially as -Ablauffläche for the rocker arm available. Incidentally, the rocker arms run off on running surfaces of the outer camshaft or on the cam parts provided thereon. In the transition region of the various drainage surfaces result in adverse, depending on the adjustment angle more or less wide column.
The US 5,441,021 describes a camshaft arrangement with only one shaft on which cams are each attached via a kind of link guide. By moving the shaft relative to the axially fixed cams, their rotational position can be varied.
From US-A-1 527 456 camshaft assembly are known in which two mutually adjustable cam act together on the same rocker arm and complement each other in their effect.
US Pat. No. 4,895,045 describes an arrangement in which a plurality of cams are rotatably mounted on a common shaft, but in their relative rotational position relative to one another on the shaft can be fixed by means of a complicated mechanism.
From US-A-6 044 816 a camshaft arrangement with two camshafts is finally known, which are also adjustable with respect to their relative rotational position, but arranged parallel to each other. This arrangement requires a lot of space in the engine. On the other hand, in this way, in the case of all cams of both camshafts, the full lateral surface is in each case available as a drainage surface for the tilting levers. Presentation of the invention
It is an object of the invention to provide a space-saving camshaft assembly of the type mentioned, in which the full lateral surface but also the cam of the inner camshaft is available as a drainage surface for the rocker arms available. This object is achieved according to the invention in that the outer camshaft is made up of several sections and that coupling means are provided for rotational coupling of these sections, which engage under the run-off surface of at least one cam of the inner camshaft through an opening in this cam.
The inventive design is as such simple and efficient to produce, especially when according to a preferred embodiment of a sheet metal strip bent cams are used and / or these are welded on the or the shaft / s attached.
In a further preferred embodiment, said at least one cam of the inner camshaft encloses these partially spaced to form a cavity and the coupling means are performed through this cavity as an opening. When using bent out of a metal strip and welded technically attached cam results in this cavity without any special measures by itself.
Further preferred embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims and the following description of exemplary embodiments. Brief explanation of the figures
FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section of a camshaft arrangement according to the invention in section (A-A in FIG. 2); FIG. Fig. 2 is a top view of the camshaft assembly of Fig. 1; Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the camshaft assembly of Fig. 1, but with a portion of the outer camshaft omitted; 4 shows a longitudinal section of a camshaft arrangement according to a further embodiment of the invention in section (corresponding to FIG. 1); Fig. 5 at a) a bent of a metal strip cam in an end view on a shaft and b) the still unbent sheet metal strip; and FIG. 6 is a partial sectional view of a cam which is fixed by welding on a shaft. Ways to carry out the invention
The illustrated in Fig. 1 longitudinal section of a camshaft assembly according to the invention comprises a continuous and preferably even one-piece inner camshaft 1 with a plurality of cams 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 mounted thereon in particular by welding. The inner camshaft has a circular cylindrical outer cross section.
The cams 2.1.-2.3 of the inner camshaft 1 enclose these in direct contact only partially and are about to form a cavity in their eccentric region incidentally from the shaft. This cavity can be seen in the cam 2.1 and designated 2.2.1. The shape of the cam and the cavity can also be seen with reference to FIG. 5, which will be discussed below.
On the inner camshaft 1 and coaxially therewith a plurality of sections 4.1-4.4 of an outer camshaft 3 are rotatably arranged. On sections 4.2-4.4 cams 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4 can be seen, which in particular can also be attached again sweat-techisch.
The representation of Fig. 1 is to be understood that in addition to the illustrated sections 4.1-4.-4 of the outer shaft even more such sections may be present with or without cams. Also, even more cams may be provided on the inner and / or the outer camshaft.
As can be seen in FIG. 1, at least the sections 4.2 and 4.3 of the outer camshaft 3 are each arranged between two cams of the inner camshaft. These are the cams 2.1 and 2.2 on the one hand and 2.2 and 2.3 on the other. In order to connect these inner sections 4.2 and 4.3 with each other and in particular with the further outward sections 4.1 and 4.2 to the camshaft 3, coupling means between the individual sections are provided. As a coupling means in the example of Fig. 1 are used in each case at the individual portions end-face pin which pass through the openings mentioned in accordance with the cavity 2.2.1 in the cam of the inner camshaft with some lateral play and by a corresponding recess in the adjacent sections be recorded.
Such a pin is formed in Fig. 1 in the region of the cam 2.2 at section 4.3 and correspondingly designated 4.3.1.
This type of coupling of the individual sections in FIG. 2 or 3 is better recognizable, the section 4.2 being shown offset to the left in FIG. 2 in order to make visible the recess 4.2.1 present in it as well as the inner camshaft 1. Section 4.1 is not shown in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3 shows only section 4.3 at all. The pin 4.3.1 may be connected to the section 4.2, in which it engages by welding, in particular by laser or electron beam welding.
As a pin and extra parts could be used and then engage on both sides in mutually coupled to each other sections of the outer camshaft and possibly be welded to this.
The corresponding coupling between the remaining sections, e.g. between sections 4.3 and 4.4 is not visible in Figs. 1 and 2, because they are unscrewed because of the different rotational positions of the cams from the plane of the drawing.
Due to the mentioned lateral play, with which the pin 4.3.1 and all other corresponding pins are performed by the cam / s of the inner camshaft 1, the relative rotational position of the inner 1 relative to the outer camshaft 3 can be changed. An adjustment angle alpha in the range of only a few degrees, possibly even only of about one degree, is usually sufficient for the desired application purpose.
Fig. 4 shows in an illustration according to FIG. 1 an alternative way of coupling two portions of the outer camshaft 3, wherein inside the hollow cylindrical camshaft 1, a shaft piece 6 is arranged, which passes through the cam 2.2 and with the sections 4.2 and 4.3, with Game through the inner camshaft 1, at 6.1 and 6.2 each pinned. Correspondingly pinned shaft pieces can also be used in the transition region between the remaining portions of the outer camshaft, but it is of course also possible to couple all sections via a common shaft piece.
In both types of coupling shown, the coupling means of the sections of the outer camshaft engage under each of the lateral surface of the cam of the inner cam shaft through an opening in this cam, whereby in each case the full lateral surface of the cam is available as a discharge surface for the rocker arms. The mantle or drainage surface of the cam 2.2 is designated, for example, 2.2.2.
The sections 4.2 and 4.3 are also inserted in the examples described between the cams 2.1 2.3 of the inner camshaft 1, that they can not move in the axial direction. However, an axial gap between the sections of the outer camshaft and the cam of the inner camshaft would also be possible, provided that the two camshafts are fixed by other means in their axial position relative to each other.
The outer camshaft can run on the inner camshaft directly, with oil lubrication can be provided with advantage.
With reference to FIGS. 5 and 6, preferred embodiments for the cams of at least the inner camshaft 1 as well as a preferred fastening technique for these cams will now be described. However, appropriately trained and fixed cams are preferably used for the outer camshaft 3.
In Fig. 5, a cam 7 is a cam referred to under a), which is mounted on a hollow cylindrical shaft 8. It may be e.g. to act on the inner camshaft and one of the cam mounted thereon according to the examples described above. The cam 7 has a first section 7.1, along which it is in contact with the shaft 8 and partially encloses it and a second section 7.2, which projects from the shaft 8 and encloses a cavity 9. The cavity 9, as described above, can be used as an opening for coupling the portions of the outer camshaft and has the further advantage that it makes the cam lighter and reduces its moment of inertia. This also reduces the weight of the entire camshaft and its rotational resistance.
The cam 7 is produced from a metal strip by bending its ends together. Such a sheet metal strip 10 is shown in FIG. 5 b), wherein the sheet metal strip 10 is still straight and unbent here. The bending direction of the metal strip is indicated by arrows.
Preferably, the sheet metal strip 10 is bent so that its ends form a blunt shock 11 after bending and push its end faces flat against each other. For this purpose, it may be advantageous to bevel the ends before bending, as shown in Fig. 5 b) also shown. The shock can be closed, in particular by resistance welding.
The metal strip 10 can be easily cut to length from a continuous material. The thickness of the sheet metal strip is e.g. between 5-15 mm. It could have a uniform but also a variable thickness over its length, so that e.g. the section 7.1 of the cam 7 is thicker than its section 7.2, or vice versa.
The cam 7 thus produced is preferably secured by welding on the shaft 8, in particular using laser or electron welding, but with particular advantage by resistance welding.
In Fig. 5, a cam 7 is shown on a shaft 8, wherein the cam 7 is particularly advantageous for a welding attachment with a laser or electron beam is formed. The cam 7 has to skirting 12, which are formed by grooves 13 at their side surfaces. Along this skirting 12 and through the cam can be obliquely welded from above with a laser or electron beam 14 with the shaft 2, which is shown in Fig. 6 only on one side of the cam. Due to the presence of the skirting 12 results in a weld (weld cone) 15 with a practically optimal welding cross-section, the width of the width of the skirting 12 corresponds approximately and thus an extraordinarily good, highly durable and durable connection between the cam 7 and the shaft 8 guaranteed.
The skirting boards 12 can be made with advantage molding technology already on the still unbent sheet metal strip 10 or on the already bent cam. name list
