Abstract
A self-cleaning hood for a cooker comprises a box having guides for leading air containing cooking vapor into a chamber into which cleaning solution from a reservoir is sprayed. The cleaning solution passes with aspirated air through a filter charged with clay balls, and is returned back to the reservoir. The cooker hood comprises a box (1) open at the bottom, a upper guide (2) and a lower guide (3) attached to the box and defining a passage (4) and a chamber (6, 7) in which the air is aspirated. The chamber comprises two parts divided by a vertical partition (8) and communicating at their upper ends. In the second part (7) of the chamber are located, from top to bottom, a spraying device (10), a filter (9) comprising clay balls, and a droplet separator (11). The lower portion of the second part (7) of the chamber comprises a lateral purified air outlet (13) and a cleaning solution outlet (12). The hood further comprises a cleaning solution reservoir (14) in which is collected the cleaning solution from the cleaning solution outlet by gravity, and which supplies the spraying device (10) by means of a pump (15). The pressure loss of the hood can be controlled by varying the thickness of the filter (9) comprising the clay balls. The cleaning solution contains enzymes that render grease water-soluble grease. The filter (9) comprising clay balls constitutes a flame arrester.
Description
The present invention relates to a kitchen hood which allows grease to be retained and whose filters are self-cleaning, that is to say which can be cleaned in the service position and during the operation of the hood.
Patent holder CH 683 597 discloses a hood provided with a device for cleaning its filter grid. This cleaning device is complex and expensive, since it comprises a mobile spraying cart for the filter grid.
The object of the present invention is the production of a self-cleaning hood of simple manufacture, without moving elements and of enhanced efficiency.
The self-cleaning hood according to the present invention makes it possible to obtain the aim aimed at using the characteristics listed in claim 1.
The drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the self-cleaning kitchen hood according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front elevation partially in section of the hood.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation partially in section of the hood.
The hood illustrated in fig. 1 comprises a box 1 open at its lower part inside which an upper guide 2 and a lower guide 3 are fixed.
The two guides 2 and 3 define a passage 4 through which the vapors and fumes from a stove 5 located under the hood are sucked.
This passage 4 opens into a chamber, also delimited by the box 1 and the guides 2 and 3, divided into two parts 6, 7 by a vertical wall 8, these two parts 6, 7 communicating with one another by their upper ends.
The second part 7 of the chamber 6, 7 comprises a filter 9 with porous balls, for example expanded clay balls, a spray device 10 for this filter located in the upper portion of the part 7 of the chamber 6, 7, a droplet separator 11, inclined, placed under the filter 9.
The lower portion of the part 7 of the chamber 6, 7 comprises a gravity discharge 12 of the cleaning solution of the filter 9 and a lateral discharge 13 of the purified air opening into a lateral discharge channel.
The evacuation of the cleaning solution 12 brings this solution back into a tank 14. A pump 15 feeds the spraying device 10 from the solution contained in this tank 14.
This hood is of particularly simple manufacture and design and it allows condensation of the vapors and cleaning of the ball filter continuously during the operation of the hood.
In operation, the air and the cooking steam drawn in through the passage are conveyed by the part 6 of the chamber 6, 7 above the ball filter 9. The dispersing device 10 serves to condense the steam and simultaneously supply the filter cleaning solution, an enzyme solution that makes the fats water-soluble. The air passes through the upper portion of the part 7 of the chamber 6, 7 where it is brought into contact with the cleaning solution.
Filter 9 is composed of a stainless steel frame and a grid receiving balls of expanded clay. The thickness of the bed of balls makes it possible to control the pressure drop and to put the fatty residues in contact with the washing bath, which may contain enzymes, over a large surface.
The purified but solution-laden air passes through the droplet separator 11 separating the solution from the purified air. The solution is collected in the lower part of the box 1 and evacuated through the conduit 12 to be brought back to the reservoir 14.
Drain valves allow the cleaning solution to drain when it is saturated. A water supply device controlled by a float maintains the level of the liquid in the reservoir 14.
The main advantages of such a hood are:
1. Very simple and easy to construct.
2. Condensation of the vapors using a water mist containing a solution of enzymes making the fats water-soluble and destroying them.
3. This same mist of cleaning solution causes continuous cleaning of the clay ball filter.
4. The expanded clay ball filter greatly increases the contact surface between the fatty air and the product loaded with enzymes.
5. The clay ball filter makes it possible to interrupt the passage of a possible flame avoiding chimney fires. It allows, by varying the thickness of the bed of clay beads, to adjust the pressure drop.
6. The vapor cleaning and the filter cleaning are done continuously and simultaneously.
