State of the art
The invention is based on a mechanically commutated electric motor according to the preamble of claim 1 or a brush holder according to the preamble of claim 10. It is already known to provide a brush holder with guide rails in a mechanically commutated electric motor, which are arranged parallel to one another at a distance and each form in pairs between them a receiving opening for brushes. The guide rails engage in corresponding guide slots in the brushes and are arranged such that the brushes are located approximately radially to an axis of rotation of the electric motor. Brush holders of this type are disclosed, for example, in EP 24 121 B1 of WO 84/00 645 and EP 482 235 A1.
It is common to all these brush holders that the receiving opening formed between the guide rails lies in a plane which is approximately perpendicular to the motor axis. As a result of this arrangement, the guide slots of the brushes are each arranged in a front and rear end face of the respective brush as viewed in the direction of travel of the commutator, i.e. the interfaces of the guide slots with the collector-side underside of the brush are offset from one another when viewed in the running direction. It has been shown that such brush arrangements with guide rails result in increased brush abrasion and spark formation in comparison to conventional brushes guided in quivers. For this reason, brush holders with guide rails have so far only been applicable to relatively underpowered electric motors.
Advantages of the invention
The electric motor according to the invention with the characterizing features of claim 1 has the advantage that the brush abrasion is reduced and the sparking is reduced. The area of application of brush holders with guide rails which can be produced inexpensively can thus be expanded. A particularly easy to manufacture brush holder is specified in claim 10.
The measures listed in the dependent claims allow advantageous developments and improvements of the electric motor mentioned in claim 1.

An embodiment of the invention is shown in simplified form in the drawing and explained in more detail in the following description.

2 is a side view of the brush holder,
Fig. 3 is a front view of the brush holder and

Description of the embodiment
In Fig. 1, 10 denotes a brush holder which serves to hold a brush 11. The brush holder 10 has two strip-shaped legs 12, 13 which run parallel to one another at a distance and form a receiving opening 14 for the brush 11 between them. The legs 12, 13 are connected to one another at the ends by bridges 15, 16. Overall, the brush holder 10 is made of plate-shaped material, the basic shape being obtained, for example, by punching from the starting material and the bridges 15, 16 then being bent. The brush holder 10 is preferably made of sheet metal. But it can also be made of plastic. The regions of the legs 12, 13 facing the receiving opening 14 serve as guide rails 17, 18 (see FIG. 4) which are designed for engagement in corresponding guide grooves 19, 20 in the brush 11.
The guide rails 17, 18 and the guide grooves 19, 20 together form a longitudinal guide for the brush 11, which allows the brush 11 to be axially displaced within the receiving opening 14. At least the collector-side bridge 15 extends approximately U-shaped around the receiving opening 14 to ensure the axial displacement of the brush.
The brush holder 10 is arranged opposite a collector 21 of the electric motor in such a way that the receiving opening 14 for the brush 11 lies approximately in a plane which is formed by a motor axis 22 which corresponds to the axis of rotation of the collector 21 and by a perpendicular 37 to the motor axis 22 becomes. A spring 23 is inserted between the brush 11 and the bridge 16 facing away from the collector 21 into the receiving opening 14 and holds the brush 11 in contact with an outer circumference of the collector 21. The bridge 16, like the bridge 15, is approximately at right angles to the legs 12 , 13 bent. Tabs 26, 27 are each formed on connecting webs 24, 25 of the bridges 15, 16, the tab 26 being bent approximately in a V-shape and bringing the base edge of the V into abutment against an end face 11a of the brush 11.
The tab 26 is thus designed as a brush brake to facilitate assembly when the brush 11 is inserted. The tab 27 arranged at the other end of the brush holder 10 extends approximately perpendicular to the receiving opening 14 away from the connecting web 25 and serves as a support for the spring 23. On the leg 12, a tab 28 is additionally provided on a tab also bent at right angles to the receiving opening 14, which serves to contact a receptacle 29. The plug-in sleeve 29 serves for the electrical contacting of a strand 30, which in turn makes electrical contact with the brush 11.
In the area of the attachment point of the bridge 15 to the legs 12, 13, the legs 12, 13 are slotted approximately in the middle (see FIG. 3), the outer cross section being bent toward the U-shaped bridge 24 and the inner cross section the guide rails 17, 18 forms. Corresponding slots 35, 36 between the inner guide areas and the outer bent areas can be clearly seen in FIG. 3.
The arrangement of the guide rails 17, 18 approximately in a plane formed by the motor axis 22 and its perpendicular 37 is essential. As a result, the edges 31, 32 lying approximately parallel to the motor axis 22 and offset in the direction of rotation of the collector 21 are uninterrupted between the end faces 11a and an underside of the brush 11 on the collector side. Only the edges 33, 34 on the side surfaces 11b and the underside of the brush 11 are interrupted by the outgoing guide grooves 19, 20.
Preferably, two brush holders 10 are arranged diametrically offset from the collector 21. The brush holder 10 can via a support part, not shown, e.g. a bearing plate or a housing part may be connected to one another. Under certain circumstances, it may be expedient to tilt the brush holder 10 slightly in relation to the plane formed by the motor axis 22 and its perpendicular 37.
