Fig.1 ein erstes Ausführungsbeispiel eines Bestückungsgeräts in Seitenansicht und teilweise im Schnitt;
Fig. 2 eine der Fig. 1 entsprechende Darstellung eines zweiten Ausführungsbeispiels des Bestückungsgeräts;
Fig. 3 partielle Draufsicht;
The invention relates to a mounting device, in particular for electronic assemblies, with an XY positioning table that carries a carrier to be equipped and with a vertically adjustable mounting head that receives a vacuum tool and via which a component can be placed on the carrier.
In known placement devices of this type (e.g. from PCT application WO-90/03 103), the placement head itself prevents the vertical view from above of the work or placement site. It is only possible to guarantee an oblique view from the front, which impairs the exact execution of the work process, or additional optical deflection devices have to be inserted into the space between the assembly head and the assembly site, which have a space-consuming effect or make the work process more difficult, and also cause equipment to become more expensive.
The present invention has for its object to provide a simple and inexpensive placement device that allows a constant vertical view from above during the work process.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the placement head has a frame which is provided with an opening and with means for rotatably arranging the vacuum tool centrally in the opening.
Two exemplary embodiments of the placement device according to the invention are shown purely schematically in the drawing and are described in more detail below.
Show it:
1 shows a first embodiment of a pick and place device in side view and partially in section;
FIG. 2 shows an illustration corresponding to FIG. 1 of a second exemplary embodiment of the placement device;
Fig. 3 partial top view;
Fig. 4 shows a further embodiment of a part receiving the assembly tool in section.
1, a placement device 1 has a frame 5, the lower part 5a of which is provided with an XY positioning table 3 which is known per se and is therefore not described in detail. A support 4, for example a printed circuit board or a substrate, is attached to the positioning table 3. On the frame 5 there is also a vertically adjustable working arm 6 which is provided with an assembly head 7. The placement head 7 has a frame 9 which holds a vacuum tool 10 and which can be adjusted in height by means of a vertical guide unit 8. The component to be fastened to the carrier 4 is brought to the fastening point by the vacuum tool 10 and is designated by 12 in FIG. 1.
Coaxial to the vacuum tool 10, an optical monitoring device 16 (for example a microscope or a device interacting with a video system) is arranged vertically adjustable on the frame 5 above the mounting head 7 in a manner not shown.
The vacuum tool 10 is fastened centrally in a transparent pane 17, preferably a glass pane (for example pressed in) and connected via a thin connecting line 18 to a vacuum supply, not shown in the drawing. The disc 17 could also be made of transparent plastic. A ball bearing 20 is arranged in the frame 9. The disc 17 is inserted into an opening 22 of the ball bearing inner ring 21; no special connection is required, for example it can be inserted loosely and supported with its shoulder 19 on the inner ring 21.
A rotation adjustment of the disk 17 and thus also of the vacuum tool 10 can be carried out by means of a friction wheel 23 engaging on the inner ring 21 of a rotary handle 15 arranged on the frame 9.
2 and 3, a second embodiment of the placement device according to the invention is shown. The identical and identically acting parts are identified by the same reference numerals.
In this mounting device 2, instead of the transparent disk 17, a ring 25 is inserted and rotatably mounted in the frame 9, which is provided with a narrow, bow-shaped vacuum tool holder 26. The connection between the vacuum source and the vacuum tool 10 takes place via a connecting line 18a.
Instead of the ball bearing 20, another bearing shape could also be used for the rotational adjustment of the ring 25 or the transparent disk 17. For example, the rotation adjustment could take place via several rotating rollers distributed around the circumference of the opening 22.
4 shows a further advantageous embodiment of the transparent pane 17. A second, also transparent, disc 27 is arranged above the disc 17. The two disks 17, 27 are connected to one another by means of a circumferential ring 28 such that an intermediate space 29 is formed between the two. The intermediate space 29 is connected to the vacuum supply, not shown, via a connecting line 30 made in the peripheral region of the upper disk 27. The vacuum tool 10 need not be provided with an additional radial bore here, but is connected directly to the intermediate space 29 with its vertical bore.
The following mode of action results from the structure described.
In the placement device 1 or 2 according to the invention, the picking up and exact placement of a component 12 on the carrier 4 is a matter of a few seconds. While the carrier 4 can be moved in the usual way by means of the XY positioning stitch, the vacuum tool 10 with the sucked-in component 12 can be rotated by rotating the transparent disk 17 or the ring 25 and fed vertically to the carrier 4 via the vertical guide unit 8. A vertical view from above through the transparent pane 17 or through the ring 25 to the entire connection configuration is guaranteed during the entire work process, but especially in the most important phase, namely when the component 12 is placed on, which enables precise positioning directly in the mounting level allows.
This is particularly important for so-called "fine pitch" connections with a high connection density (i.e. with very small connection distances).
The embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3 has the additional advantage that soldering devices can also be used directly through the ring 25.
In the variant shown in FIG. 4, even the minimal visual obstruction caused by the thin connecting line 18 (FIG. 1) or the likewise thin vacuum tool carrier 26 (FIGS. 2 and 3) is eliminated.
The special advantages are achieved in a very simple manner; the placement device is structurally simple and inexpensive.
