Fig. 1: Eine perspektivische Ansicht des Schalenkerns des Griffes für die Montage;
Fig. 2: Eine Seitenansicht des Griffes von aussen mit darin angedeutetem Schalenkern;
This invention relates to a handle according to claim 1 for use on a hockey stick, be it an ice hockey stick or a roller hockey stick. Traditionally, every player buys the hockey stick of his preferred brand, which is usually made of wood and has a standard length. He then has to shorten this stick to the length that suits him by cutting off the stick end. After shortening the stick to the desired length, the end of the stick is wrapped with insulating tape so that you get a non-slip grip at the end of the stick to play with. Usually several layers of insulating tape are applied, so that starting from the rectangular cross-section of the stick, the handle finally gets somewhat rounded edges in cross-section.
In addition to the work involved in wrapping the stick end, the insulating tape must be purchased, with a roll that is enough to grip a stick end costs around CHF 20.-. A club ice hockey player easily consumes 8 to 10 sticks per season. Wrapping the stick with insulating tape also takes a considerable amount of time of about 10 minutes and it is difficult to always produce the same good grip. The handle made of insulating tape is also hard to touch and there is a high level of friction in the inner glove, which leads to wear through of the glove leather.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a handle for a hockey stick, which can be used equally for hockey sticks as well as for roller hockey sticks, and which ensures a better fit for the hand and can also be put on quickly and is reusable in one version.
This object is achieved by a handle for a hockey stick, which forms a hollow body which can be slipped onto the end of the stick, the clear cross section of which essentially corresponds to the cross section of the stick to be equipped, and the outside is shaped according to ergonomic considerations. In the following drawings, an embodiment of this handle is shown and explained in detail in the description.
It shows:
Fig. 1: A perspective view of the shell core of the handle for assembly;
2: a side view of the handle from the outside with the shell core indicated therein;
Fig. 3: A perspective view of the handle, put on the end of a hockey stick.
The example of a handle shown in the figures consists of a shell core 1 made of hard plastic, which forms the basis for the handle structure and makes it possible to put it on the end of the stick. This shell core 1 is preferably made of a molded plastic, so that it can be produced inexpensively in series. However, it is also conceivable for a shell core to be made of a suitable metal mesh or sheet metal, which is preferably perforated. The shell core has stretchable longitudinal grooves 2, so that it is possible to compensate for different stick dimensions. Accordingly, the handle can be used regardless of a particular stick brand. The shell core 1 has a number of holes in order to form a structure for fastening an ergonomically designed cover, which then acts as a handle covering 3.
Preferably, a handle covering 3 made of soft rubber-elastic material, for example foam rubber as is customary on motorcycle grips, or a similar soft material is applied over this shell core 1. Depending on the material, it can involve spraying, pouring, foaming or laminating. The handle is shaped in such a way that the hand finds a comfortable and firm grip around this handle covering 3. At the beginning of the handle to be slipped onto the end of the stick there may be a fastening mechanism which enables the handle to be changed to a new stick at any time. For this purpose, for example, the inner surface of the shell core 1 in the edge region can have pointed spurs 4 in the form of small barbs, and the edge region of the shell core 1 can be encompassed by a strap band 5.
When the strap band is pulled together, the pointed spurs 4 are pressed into the stick material, so that they claw in the wood of the stick and thus the grip on the stick is held securely. In the event that the shell core 1 is made of sheet metal, the pointed spurs 4 can also be hammered into the wood of the stick and thus clawed. To loosen them, they can be pulled out of the wood again with a tool for slightly lifting the shell core wall, after which the handle can be pulled off the stick again. Other fastening options can consist, for example, in that one or more screws which run transversely to the stick are screwed into the stick with their tips by the handle.
However, it is also possible to manufacture the stick handle as a disposable product by gluing it to the end of the stick with a special adhesive and thus throwing it away with the used or broken stick. Furthermore, it goes without saying that this handle can also be produced as a one-piece structure, for example as a rubber handle which is laminated onto the stick end or is held on the stick end with releasable fastening means 5. In another variant, the handle can be composed of several parts made of wood, plastic or metal and then form the handle which has an outer shape shaped from an ergonomic point of view. Optionally, such a handle can also be coated with a rubber-elastic soft material.
With such a handle on the stick, the puck guidance is improved, since the handle lies better in the hand. Especially when the grip surface 3 is made of foam rubber, the strokes have less of an impact on the wrist when passing or shooting. The quick attachment and removal of this handle is ensured in the embodiment shown in the figures by the hard shell core 1, which forms the basis for the correct handle shape and remains constant in shape. With the use of this handle, the expensive leather gloves of the players are less worn, because the wear and tear on the foam rubber and not on the glove leather. This compact stick handle is assembled in a very short time and the player is no longer forced to wrap the end of his stick with insulating tape in handicraft work.
