introduction
The invention relates to a nipple for infant feeding as described in claim 1.
The need to feed many infants with a suitable bottle and a suitable, suitable teat is a problem that has been the cause of various developments for a long time. In spite of the tendency towards increased breastfeeding observed today, the need for good nipples continues.
The most recent developments in the nipples deal primarily with the interaction of the nipple shape and jaw shape in the drinking toddler, since an influence of the nipple and, more importantly, the analog pacifier is postulated on the later tooth position.
The inventive design of a feeding teat described here is primarily based on observations on the optimal positioning of the toddler, in particular the posture of his head, while drinking. It was shown that the usual use of straight bottles and straight teats often means that the babies are laid down flat or that the child's head is pushed back when drinking. This posture prevents the infant from drinking physiologically.
When using an angled system according to the invention, which has a suitable angle (of, for example, 20-45 degrees) between the axis of the drinking bottle and the axis of the teat nipple, the child can no longer be laid flat for drinking and his head can easily become physiological Stay in position.
State of the art
The need for angled hydration systems for infants was recognized earlier. For example, angled bottles are known from US Pat. No. 4,676,387. However, these are characterized by a very high level of production effort and have apparently not become established.
Alternatively, an angled adapter to drinking bottles is described in the document PCT / GB90 / 01 362, which together with a commercially available bottle and a commercially available teat result in an appropriately angled nutritional system. A disadvantage of this approach, however, is the lack of standardization of the connection thread in the commercially available bottles. To get a universal system, a whole set of coupling rings is required.
A rather unusual approach is described in US 5 190 174: The teat itself has a flexible gooseneck (bellows) between its base and the actual teat, which has a largely free orientation of the axis of the nipple (and thus the axis of the child's mouth) allowed the axis of the drinking bottle. The disadvantage here, however, is that infants often stop while drinking and release the teat nipple, which springs back into the basic position in the embodiment described.
Task and solution
Based on the knowledge that an angled feeding system offers many advantages for infants, regardless of the specific design of the shape of the nipple, a corresponding teat should be developed, which can be used with as many commercially available baby bottles and can be made from different materials.
The suction device according to the invention is made from one piece and can be made from suitable silicone or another rubber suitable for this application in an injection molding or other injection or casting process. The outstanding feature of the teat according to the invention is that there is a deflection angle of, for example, 20-30 degrees between the extension of the axis of its base (support on a commercially available, straight bottle) and the axis of the nipple to be inserted into the child's mouth.
If the nipple formed on the teat according to the invention has a special shape, for example a so-called jaw-appropriate shape, which differentiates the upper (palate-side surface in the mouth of the infant) and the underside (tongue-side surface in the infant's mouth), then the top of the nipple lies on the Side of the smallest angle between the two axes in the suction cup (ie on the side of the nipple inclined towards the bottle). The teat according to the invention is shaped in such a way that there is enough space for the child's nose between the collar of the drinking bottle and the upper lip of the baby.
Figure description
Fig. 1 shows a section through a possible embodiment of the suction device according to the invention, in which the nipple 2 is formed in a particularly flat, jaw-appropriate shape. The base 1 contains a ventilation notch 11 and a universal snap ring 12, which allows the use of the teat with a large range of commercially available baby bottles. In this embodiment, the axis 10 of the base 1 and the axis 20 of the nipple 2 intersect at an angle 100 of 25 degrees. According to the invention, the upper side 21, which is intended to lie on the palate in the child's mouth, is on the side of the nipple inclined towards the bottle, and the underside 22, which is intended to lie on the tongue in the child's mouth, is on the side of the elongated base axis 10.
FIG. 2 shows the same design as FIG. 1, but in addition a part of a commercially available cap 30 is shown on an infant bottle. In the special embodiment of the nutritional suction device according to the invention, the length of the nipple 2 and the axis angle 100 are matched to one another in such a way that the nipple 2 does not touch most of the commercially available caps 30.
Special embodiments
The shape of the nipple of the possible embodiment of the feeding teat according to the invention shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 is modeled on a particular configuration postulated for promoting the natural sucking and swallowing of the small child, as is shown, for example, in the document US Pat. No. 5,004,473.
