The present invention relates to a high voltage circuit breaker comprising at least one breaking chamber comprising a sealed envelope filled with gases having good dielectric properties and containing a fixed arcing contact and a movable arcing contact, one being integral an insulating blowing nozzle.
As a general rule, the blowing nozzle consists of a section having at its end a divergent. The arc is formed between the contacts and is blown by the dielectric gas directed by the nozzle and flowing through the orifice of the latter. The arc is therefore unique and the voltage high and it is necessary to mount several chambers in series which is particularly expensive. This is particularly valid in the event of a mileage fault, in the event of a line fault.
Thanks to the invention, the blowing is improved and by a preferred embodiment the arc is split into several arcs which results in a division of the tension by a particularly economical arrangement.
To do this, the blowing nozzle is composed of several sections spaced in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle and each provided with a divergent outer end. The gas is thus blown between each nozzle section.
To facilitate its manufacture and assembly, preferably, the nozzle consists of a single piece, the different sections being connected to each other by spacers.
According to a preferred variant, at least one section is provided with an annular metal electrode disposed on its inner end. In this way, a division of the arc and therefore of the tension is obtained, which is particularly appreciable in the event of a mileage defect.
According to a particular embodiment, there are three sections.
This improvement will be particularly used when the nozzle is integral with the fixed contact.
This arrangement requires an increase in the diameter of the movable arcing contact and the latter is preferably tubular and provided with a closure member at its end facing the fixed arcing contact.
More generally, at least one of the arcing contacts is tubular and provided with a closure member at its end facing the other arcing contact.
According to a particular characteristic, the closure member is of concave shape and is made of PTFE.
The invention is set out below in more detail with the aid of drawings representing only a preferred embodiment.
Fig. 1 is a partial longitudinal sectional view of a first alternative embodiment of a circuit breaker according to the invention.
Fig. 2 is a view in partial longitudinal section of a second alternative embodiment of a circuit breaker according to the invention.
According to the first variant shown in FIG. 1, the high-voltage circuit breaker comprises at least one breaking chamber comprising a sealed envelope filled with gases having good dielectric properties and containing a fixed arcing contact 1 and a movable arcing contact 2, one being integral with an insulating blowing nozzle 3. The blowing nozzle 3 is composed of two sections 31, 32 spaced apart in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle 3 and each provided with a divergent outer end. The nozzle 3 is integral with the fixed contact 1.
The nozzle 3 consists of a single piece, the different sections 31, 32 being connected to each other 5 by spacers 34.
The second section 32 is provided with an annular metal electrode 35 disposed on its inner end and preferably made of copper or tungsten.
In this case, the arc is split into two parts between the fixed contact 1, the second nozzle section 32 and the movable contact 2 and is blown by the dielectric gas flowing between these parts.
According to the second variant shown in FIG. 2, the blowing nozzle 3 secured to the fixed contact 1 is composed of three sections 31, 32, 33 spaced in the longitudinal direction of the nozzle 3 and each provided with a divergent outer end. The nozzle 3 consists of a single piece, the different sections 31, 32, 33 being connected to each other by spacers 34. The first and second sections 31, 32 are provided with annular metal electrodes 35 arranged on their end interior.
The movable arcing contact 2 is tubular and provided with a closing member 21 of concave shape and made of PTFE, at its end facing the fixed arcing contact 1.
The arc is therefore split between the metal electrodes and blown by the dielectric gas. Thanks to the closure member 21, the gas is confined in a relatively small volume which increases its pressure and improves the blowing.
