Abstract

The clock has a clock mechanism (21), at least one indicator, a clock housing (11,12), at least one manually operated outer ring (33) rotatable wrt. the housing and able to adopt several defined positions and a detector of the ring positions. The detector has first elements (27e) along a circle extending in the housing about the rotation axis and elements (39c) of a second sort along a second, concentric circle and fixed into the ring. The second group of elements can be brought into defined binary relationships to those of the first sort. The total of the binary states is different for each defined rotary position of the outer ring. The outer ring can adopt 24 defined rotary positions, each associated with a time zone. There are 5 to 8 elements of the first group, whose states are contactlessly determined by the elements of the second group.
