ci Effekt von RNase und Detergentien auf RNA-Viren: ci Effect of RNase and Detergents on RNA Viruses:
- RNA viruses are made up of their genetic material RNA and a framework (= capsid) made of proteins. Certain RNA viruses also have a membrane envelope consisting of lipids and proteins.
- With suitable detergents, the membrane shell is broken up and the scaffold is broken open so that RNases can break down the genetic material of the RNA virus, which leads to a complete destruction of the RNA virus. This completely eliminates not only the ability of the organism to absorb, but also any potential for multiplication of the RNA viruses. This novel destruction of the genetic material RNA for inactivation even seems to be important, since it has recently been shown that, for example, polio viruses alone multiply with their RNA in intact or even in dissolved cells (Science News, Vol. 140, p. 390 , 1991).

dì Mittel mit RNasen: dì means with RNases:
RNasen können mit verschiedensten herkömmlichen flüssigen oder getrockneten Substanzen zur Reinigung, Desinfektion oder Körperpflege kombiniert oder als neue optimierte Reagentien in verschiedenen Kombinationen mit neuen Formulierungen angewendet werden: RNases can be combined with a wide variety of conventional liquid or dried substances for cleaning, disinfection or personal care or used as new optimized reagents in various combinations with new formulations:
- For cleaning and disinfection at least one RNase and a detergent (optimal e.g. sodium lauryl sulfate) are required. It is known from basic research that RNases work effectively under various conditions.
- To protect against infection, agents with RNase are suitable in all personal care products, such as washing lotions, creams, hair shampoos, shower gels, powders, etc. Depending on their composition, these agents have a short-term inactivating effect on RNA viruses or mediate a longer one persistent inactivation ability on RNA viruses. For a desired longer protective effect, the use of agents that leave a relatively resistant film on the treated surfaces (devices, clothes, skin) is recommended. Such agents, based on gels, oils or waxes, have already been patented in part and are used in practice.
ei Anwenriunn von Mittel mit RNasen: An application of means with RNases:
- In crop protection for the disinfection of contaminated devices and above all as a protection option in the form of resistant protective films (waxes or oils) together with other crop protection products.
- For animals to disinfect the devices, housings and the animals themselves.
- In humans for cleaning and disinfecting contaminated devices, surfaces, clothing or even the body surface (skin and mucous membranes). Above all for places with a high risk (hospitals, laboratories, doctor's surgeries, habitats of people who excrete RNA viruses, ...) but also for general prevention, the use of these agents with RNase is imperative. The use for the protection of people through a «protective film» is especially recommended for especially vulnerable risk groups (e.g. doctors, nursing staff, cleaning staff, ...) who are very likely to come into contact with people who excrete RNA viruses or possibly contaminated objects come.
Protection of the affected risk groups is appropriate in connection with the AIDS-causing HIV-RNA viruses. RNase agents can be added to common external contraceptives. Condoms, as currently the best effective protection against transmission of HIV-RNA viruses, can be coated with a protective film containing RNase or added to lubricants. Agents with RNases can also be combined with conventional lubricants, massage or generally with personal care products.
Since these agents all reduce the probability and thus the risk of infection with RNA viruses, they can be described as "anti-infectives for RNA viruses" (= aiRVi).
