Abstract

The rotary barrel made conventionally of staves (11) secured by straps (12) round the outside has its ends closed and incorporates an opening (13) fitted with a sliding cover (14) for treatment substances. Inside is a smaller diameter cylinder made of mesh material (17) leaving an intermediate space for treatment substances and forming an inner cylinder for the skins. The mesh cylinder has a corresponding opening (20) and cover. Longitudinal bars (23) extend radially from the staves to assist treatment. In a first phase, the skins are treated with salt and other dry substances, then discharged through the opening. In a second phase, liquid treatment substances are used. La presente invenzione si riferisce ad un bottale avente una particolare struttura interna. The present invention refers to a drum having a particular internal structure.

L'invenzione concerne anche un procedimento di concia attuabile con ii bottale dell'invenzione. La conciatura che, come noto, é una lavorazione utile a trasformare le pelli in prodotti imputrescibili, può avere inizio solo dopo aver ripulito le pelli dal sale, necessario alla loro conservazione fino al momento della concia, e delle altre sostanze con le quali esse possono essere venute a contatto quali, sabbia, sangue, sterco e altre che vi si sono aderite superficialmente. Tale scopo viene raggiunto mediante un bottale in cui é prevista una prima camera atta ad alloggiare le pelli da sottoporre al processo di concia, una seconda camera separata da detta prima camera mediante una o più reti, detta seconda camera essendo atta ad accogliere le sostanze che vengono separate dalle pelli durante alcuni trattamenti e a scaricare dette sostanze all'esterno del bottale durante la rotazione del medesimo. Un procedimento di concia messo in atto con un bottale secondo l'invenzione consiste in una prima fase di pulitura delle pelli alloggiate in una prima camera di detto bottale e contemporanea espulsione delle sostanze che si raccolgono in una seconda camera di detto bottale, la durata di detta prima fase essendo tale da generare un pre-rinverdimento delle pelli grazie alle azioni meccaniche e all'aumento di temperatura che si producono internamente al bottale, una seconda fase di rinverdimento delle pelli previa introduzione nel bottale di acqua e agevolanti chimici, il risultato di detto rinverdimento in combinazione col pre-rinverdimento effettuato nella prima fase essendo tale da predisporre le pelli ad una efficace operazione di scarnatura, mediante apposite attrezzature e macchine scarnatrici, che ha luogo come terza fase del procedimento, una quarta fase di depilazione e calcinazione e quindi le fasi di decalcinazione e macerazione, picklaggio e concia secondo le tecniche note. Con riferimento alla fig. 1 viene indicato con 10 un bottale in cui il fasciame esterno é realizzato con doghe di legno 11 trattenute dai cerchi di chiusura 12. In questa fase il calore, sviluppato per effetto dello sfregamento delle pelli, viene mantenuto grazie all'isolamento costituito da fasciame in legno del bottale; la temperatura conseguente, variabile dai 25 ai 35°C a seconda della produzione a cui le pelli sono destinate, produce una prima azione di rinverdimento, con allentamento delle fibre, che dispone la pelle in modo da rendere il successivo rinverdimento, di tipo chimico, più rapido ed efficace. Questo secondo rinverdimento ha infatti luogo giusto al termine della fase di pulitura, chiudendo il portello 14 e immettendo nel bottale la soluzione più opportuna, generalmente comprendente acidi e tensioattivi. E' da notare che il risultato di questa operazione é qualitativamente analogo a quello ottenibile con il metodo tradizionale, il quale però, a differenza di questo, richiede che venga eseguita la calcinazione prima della scarnatura per assicurare lo stesso grado di rigonfiamento. 1. Drum characterized by the fact that it comprises a first chamber suitable for housing the hides to be subjected to the treatments of the tanning process, a second chamber separated from said first chamber by one or more nets, said second chamber being adapted to collect the stances which are separated from the skins during some of the treatments and to discharge said substances outside the drum during the rotation of the same.

2. A drum according to the preceding claim characterized in that said first chamber is in the shape of a cylinder having the axis coincident with the axis of the drum and that said second chamber has a circular crown-shaped section arranged between said first chamber and the plating outside of said drum.

3. Drum according to claim 1 or 2 characterized in that inside said first chamber are housed blades arranged longitudinally and uniformly distributed along the separation surface between said first and said second chamber.

4. A drum according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that said separation surface comprises an opening, provided with a removable door, located at the main opening of the drum, said main opening being provided with a door or sliding door.

5. Leather tanning process characterized in that it comprises a first step in which the hides are cleaned from salt and other dry substances by positioning the hides in said first chamber of said drum and subjecting it to rotation leaving the main opening open , so as to allow the escape of the salt and other substances that are collected in said second chamber, a second phase in which the greening of the hides is carried out after closure of said main opening and introduction into the drum of water and chemical facilitators, an operation fleshing, by means of special equipment or fleshing machines, a subsequent depilation and calcination phase, and finally the descaling and maceration, pickling and tanning phases.
