In der CH-A 659 094 bzw.

Fig. 13 als zugehöriges Schalt- und Codierungsschema.
US-A 4 586 448.
The present invention relates to a sewing machine with an electric drive according to the preamble of claim 1. CH-A 659 094 or US-A 4 586 448 describes a sewing machine with a foot controller, the foot controller not only being able to control the speed of the sewing machine but can also bring the sewing needle from an upper to a lower position or vice versa. Furthermore, other functions can be controlled with the foot controller with a variant described in this patent.
There are now cases where a foot controller is either unusable because the operator cannot operate it, and there are also many opportunities, particularly in Asia, where the operator is not sitting on a chair but on the ground, which means that the operation of a foot controller is very difficult.
Hand controls for sewing machines are known per se, for example from US Pat. No. 3,141,429, according to which the speed control means for the motor are built into the machine and the motor speed can be adjusted by means of a hand control. The handheld controller consists of a housing with a built-in control resistor, which can be adjusted using the rotary knob. This handheld controller has no options for controlling other functions and cannot be handled in such a way that the sewing material is guided at the same time.
Another hand controller for sewing machines is known from US Pat. No. 3,582,748, which consists of a box-like rectangular housing with a screwed-on cover. In the inside of the housing, a resistance and printed circuit board are arranged parallel to each other at a distance and contacts arranged on a tappet-operated rocker arm slide over the two plates. A clamping device is used to fix the rocker arm in the set position and a second plunger enables the clamping device to be released. Accurate and metered speed control is not possible with this hand controller, however, because the rocker arm is locked after each actuation of the first plunger and the second plunger must be actuated each time to reduce the speed in order to release the clamping device.
It is therefore not possible to simultaneously actuate the plunger which triggers the clamping and the plunger which regulates the speed, and at the same time to guide the sewing material, since only thumb and index finger are provided for guiding the sewing material. In addition, the control of additional functions such as thread cutters and / or other machine functions is not possible with this hand controller.
Based on this, it is the object of the present invention to provide a sewing machine which has a hand controller with which it is possible to regulate the speed of the sewing machine in a finely adjustable manner and to control further functions without the sewing material guidance being impaired. This object is achieved with a sewing machine as defined in the claims.
The invention is explained below with reference to a drawing of exemplary embodiments.

Fig. 13 as an associated switching and coding scheme.
In the first exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4, the manual regulator 1 is connected to the sewing machine via a cable 2. The electrical circuit diagram for both the controller and the sewing machine corresponds to the diagram according to FIG. 1 of the already mentioned CH-A 659 094 and US-A 4 586 448. Cable 2 is a two-core cable, the electrical circuit of the The hand controller also contains a variable resistor for regulating the speed of the sewing machine and a changeover switch, which either allows the control resistor or a fixed resistor to be switched into the circuit. In this first embodiment, the actual control circuit or receiver attached to the machine is the same as in the aforementioned publication and also has two comparators.
In order to solve the task set at the beginning, i. H. In order to be able to regulate the speed in a finely adjustable manner and to guide the sewing material as usual, the hand controller 1 must not only have the corresponding electrical circuits but also be shaped accordingly. 1 and 2, the two-part housing 3 and 4, which is approximately rectangular and which, as a regulator for the right hand, has a recess 5 in the upper right corner, in which the angle lever 6 is arranged which can be operated with the little finger and serves to regulate the speed of the sewing machine motor. On the opposite narrow side there is a plunger 7 designed as a changeover switch, which is used to actuate additional functions. It can be assumed that the sewing machine will then be at a standstill.
It also appears from the figures that the cable outlet is arranged on the tapered part of the narrow side.
Between the angle lever 6 and the tappet 7, a T-shaped wing holder 8 is arranged, which is formed from the connecting web 9 and the wing 10. The wing holder 8 or the connecting rib 9 is intended to be inserted between the ring and middle fingers, with which the hand controller is held well and the actuating levers can be actuated comfortably. In order to better adapt the holder to the hand or fingers, the connecting rib 9 is inclined at an angle alpha of 5 to 10 ° with respect to the perpendicular to the longitudinal top 11. In addition, it has proven to be expedient to design the wing 10 inclined with respect to the upper edge of the housing, as is indicated in FIG. 1 a. The distance between the wing and the top of the housing is smaller on the fingertip side than at the edge 11.
It goes without saying that the regulator can also be designed for left-handers, the corresponding parts described above being arranged in mirror image. The description shows that this type of fixation of the hand control in the hand has the great advantage that the fingers remain freely movable in order to trigger the control and regulation functions or to guide the sewing material. In addition, the control device can be held and operated very well, regardless of whether the operator has a tender or strong hand. For the purpose of even better adaptation of the wing holder 8 to the hand or fingers, the connecting rib 9 and / or the wing 10 can be fastened movably to the housing or connecting rib, in which case the holding rib or wing 10 can then either be adjusted and locked can or via a stiff joint with the housing, or
Connection rib can be connected.
Fig. 3 shows the lower housing part 4, in which the functional parts, i. H. the angle lever 6 and the plunger 7 are arranged. The plunger 7 consists of an actuating button 12 and a straight part 13 guided through the housing and a bent part 14 and is guided by guides 15 and 16 on both its straight and its bent part in the lower housing part 4. Two stops 17 are attached to the straight part on both sides. The front guide 15 has two shoulders 18 on the button side and a shoulder 19 on the other side, all of which work together with the stops 17 in order to limit the path of the ram on both sides. The plunger 7 is acted upon by a compression spring 20 which is guided in a holding pin 21 in the plunger and always presses it outwards. The spring is supported on a stop 22 in the housing.
On the cranked part 14 there is a stop 23 which interacts with the second leg 24 of the angle lever 6. The angle lever 6 consisting of the actuating leg 25 and the second leg 24 is rotatably inserted on the pin 26 in the housing part and is under the action of a spring 27 which is placed on the bearing part 28 of the angle lever and whose one leg 29 is located on a projection 30 in Housing part on the one hand and the second leg 31 is supported on a projection 32 in the second leg 24 of the bell crank on the other hand to push the actuating leg 25 upwards. However, the stroke of the actuating leg 25 upwards is limited by the stop 23 in the cranked part of the tappet, the position on the stop 23 determining the zero position of the drive.
If the plunger 7 is pushed in against the pressure of its spring 20, the angle lever or its actuating leg 25 can move upward under the pressure of the spring 27 and thus start the other functions. On the lower part of the second leg of the angle lever is the grinder body 33, which has a two-part grinder (not shown) on its underside in order to bridge the grinding or resistance tracks in the resistance plate 34. On the upper side of the grinder body 33 there is a guide cam 36 which guides the grinder body and thus the angle lever on a guide rib 37 drawn in dash-dotted lines on the upper housing part 3.
In order to prevent the motor from being switched on unintentionally, the guide rib 37 has a shoulder at the end of the zero position of the angle lever 6, which the guide cam must overcome before the circuit is closed and the motor starts to run. Furthermore, the two electrical connections 35 can be seen in FIG. 3, which lead under the resistance plate 34 inserted and fastened in the housing part and open into the connection cable 2. The connecting cable 2 ends at the other end in a plug, not shown, which corresponds to that of the previously known foot controller, so that the hand controller is fully compatible with the foot controller so that it can be optionally connected to the sewing machine.
FIG. 4 shows a first resistance plate, in which the electrically conductive slide track 38, the resistance track 39 and the fixed resistor 40 and the two connections 41 and 42 can be seen from the bottom up. The resistance track 39 contains a control section 43 with a resistance of 0 to 4 k OMEGA, an electrically non-conductive zone 44 and an electrically conductive zone 45 for starting an additional function, such as needle movement from top to bottom or bottom to top or thread cutting etc. The fixed resistor 40 has a value of 10 k OMEGA. In the position of the angle lever described above, the sliding contacts on the sliding body are always in the neutral zone 44.
When the angle lever is actuated, the grinder moves on the control section 43 in order to regulate the speed of the motor drive by changing the resistance, while when the plunger is actuated the sliding contacts on the grinder body are moved into the zone 45 in order to trigger a pulse for an additional function. It should be noted that from any position, when the plunger is actuated, the grinder is first moved into the neutral zone 44 to stop the motor, then to reach zone 45 and from there back to the neutral zone, if the plunger is released. By simply modifying the resistance plate on the one hand and the plunger on the other hand, it is possible to have several additional functions performed, including by more than one plunger.
In the present exemplary embodiment, the additional functions serve for the pulsed control of the needle stop position. If the plunger is actuated after the machine has been stopped, the stop connected to the plunger withdraws and the sliding contact of the angle lever is moved onto contact point 45 for the needle position signal. The main shaft of the machine makes half a turn and the needle, which is normally in the raised position, is moved downwards. When it is pressed again, the needle is raised again, etc.
As described above, the first exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 to 4 relates to a manually operated control device which can be connected to the sewing machine by means of a connecting cable compatible with the foot controller. A second exemplary embodiment will now be described below, in which the control and control signals are no longer transmitted via a cable but via an infrared transmitter and receiver. It would also be possible to transmit the control signals by means of ultrasound waves, but the infrared transmitters and receivers are now so sophisticated, not least due to the development of remote controls for television and video devices, that their use is more advantageous.
5 shows that the IR transmitter 46 on the hand controller 47 is advantageously mounted on the wing 48 of the wing holder 49 and the IR receiver 50 above the sewing point on the housing of the sewing machine 51. The mechanical parts of the hand controller are identical to those of controller 1 as described above. The IR transmitter 46 can be powered either by a battery 52 or by solar cells 53.
Since the transmitter or the handheld controller does not always stay in the same place but carries the movements with the hand, the infrared light from the transmitter must be widely scattered through a lens. A similar lens on the receiver, which must be attached to the sewing machine so that there is always a line of sight to the transmitter when sewing, ensures that the infrared signals are received from a wide angular range. The infrared receiver should preferably be arranged above the sewing point in the area of the sewing machine head.
Since such sewing machines are also used in schools or other places where there are several machines, it must be ensured that the transmission of a signal from a hand controller cannot start other machines than those belonging to this controller. For this purpose, the transmit and receive signals must be encoded. A possible coding circuit is shown in the block diagram of the signal transmission from the hand controller to the motor controller in FIG. 6. In the transmitter circuit 54, a measuring transducer 55 measures the position of the actuating lever 6 and the plunger 7 for the needle stop and generates a digital signal. A pulse code modulator 56 converts this digital information into a serial stream of data information. In addition to the information about the motor set speed and needle stop, an additional code must be transmitted.
This enables coding of different handheld controllers, which is a requirement as soon as several sewing machines are to work in the same room, as indicated above. This coding, which is carried out in the coding circuit 57, prevents a plurality of sewing machines from being switched on at the same time with a manual starter. In the present exemplary embodiment, a code with four bits is provided, which enables the coding of sixteen different manual starters. According to the receiver circuit 58 on the sewing machine 51, the IR receiver 50 receives the infrared signals with the preamplifier 59 and forwards them to a pulse code demodulator 60.
This checks the received signals independently of one another and thus guarantees that the motor does not start to rotate automatically in the event of a failure of an electronic component. H. it recognizes the motor control signals and the needle stop signals. The motor controller 61 therefore only switches the motor on if motor control signals are present and if the pulse code demodulator has recognized the correct security code. The coding of the pulse code demodulator takes place via the coding circuit 62. The pulse code modulation and pulse code demodulation are known per se from the literature and are used in devices with infrared remote control.
For the handheld controller, the five bit data of an infrared transmission, which is common among other things for television sets, is not sufficient. Command coding for handheld controllers requires at least eight bit data. Fig. 7 shows the corresponding structure of the command coding and the meaning of the individual codes are shown in Figs. 8 and 9. The command coding according to FIG. 7 corresponds to the usual command coding for five bit data, the table from FIG. 7 corresponding to the coding circuit 57, while the table from FIG. 8 corresponds to the coding circuit 62 at the receiver. The meaning of the individual codes can be seen from FIG. 9 and in particular also the connection of the values in FIG. 9 with the actuating lever 6 and the plunger 7 with respect to the resistance plate 34 from FIG. 4, which is the same in this exemplary embodiment.
The electronic circuit 63 of FIG. 10 must ensure that no false information is sent out. These could switch on the sewing machine motor unintentionally. A potentiometer R1 detects the angular position of the actuating lever for controlling the engine speed and the movement of the plunger for needle stop below. If this plunger is actuated, a resistance of 10 k OMEGA is switched on. However, if the operating lever for controlling the engine speed is pressed, a resistance between 4 k OMEGA and 0 OMEGA can be measured on the potentiometer. If the actuating lever is now pressed, a voltage drop occurs at the resistor R1 or potentiometer, which is measured by the analog-digital converter 64 and converted into a digital value. In the code converter 65 is a semiconductor memory in which the codes according to FIGS. 8 and 9 are stored.
The code converter now generates a data word from the measured value from the AD converter and from the digital value from the coding switch 57. The pulse code modulator 56 then generates the data stream, consisting of the information for the motor control 61 and the security code. As long as the hand control is switched on, the transmission of this information is repeated automatically. In order to prevent the transmission of unwanted information that would switch the motor on, the IR transmitter diode 46 is switched on not only via transistor T2, but also via transistor T1. However, the transistor T1 only becomes conductive if a current can flow through the potentiometer R1 by actuating the operating elements on the hand controller.
Another part of the circuit, the monitoring of the power supply 66, automatically switches off the power supply for the AD converter, the code converter and the pulse code modulator when the hand controller has not been switched on for a certain time. FIG. 10 also shows that this circuit 63 can be supplied either by the battery 52 or the solar cells 53, an accumulator being required in a known manner to store the solar cell current.
Instead of the resistance plate 34 according to FIG. 4, a codable resistance plate 67 according to FIG. 11 can also be used in the hand controller. With the help of this code plate with four different resistance tracks I, K, L, M and a sliding track 68 and an associated sliding body 69 with five contact points, a digital code is generated directly from the angular position of the operating elements on the handheld controller. The corresponding coding table is shown in Fig. 12. This code is converted together with the security code by the coding switch 57, see FIG. 13, in the code converter 70 and passed on to the pulse code modulator 56.
If it turns out to be necessary to operate more than sixteen machines in the same room, an expanded coding type with more than eight bit data can be easily implemented. In addition, the switching device does not have to be a plunger, it can also be a rocker or the like switch.
