Abstract
The indicator has a unit which transmits a perfectly vertical luminous beam from. a low point to a high point. This beam is produced from an incandescent or laser source (2) which is mounted on the top of a tripod (8) by use of a ball and socket joint and which simulates a pendulum. A mirror is inclined at 45 degs. and is fixed on a ring pivoting around the beam axis to permit sending of a horizontal laser beam in all azimuths. ADVANTAGE - Enables workman to trace easily on wall or ceiling by use of felt-tipped pen lines for fixing holes or various fittings e.g. electrical lamps.
Description
Electrical, sanitary, heating, ventilation and other pipelayers often need to trace the locations of hanging or running pipes on the ceiling of a building.
This operation is awkward and always requires the use of a ladder or platform if the ceiling height is high, which requires time and the presence of help.
It is therefore easier to trace the axes of pipes or openings on the floor and to transfer them vertically to the ceiling using a special and suitable device.
The present invention makes it possible to perform this function because it relates to a verticality indicator device comprising an electrical source housed in a housing and producing an incandescent or laser light beam directed upwards, the housing being ballasted hanging from the top a tripod via a ball joint which causes a pendulum effect ensuring the verticality of the radius.
The invention will be better understood on reading the description of an embodiment with reference to the 2 drawings, namely:
Fig. 1 schematically shows a partial section of the device and shows it whose vertical light beam 1 and directed upwards comes from a light source 2 powered by one or more batteries 3 also acting as a counterweight. The whole is housed in a cylinder 4 which is extended downwards by a telescopic rod 5 terminated by an aiming point 6. This assembly is suspended by means of a ball joint 7 at the top of a tripod 8, which ensures the perfect verticality of the emitted ray, by pendulum effect.
Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the use of this verticality indicator device.
Thanks to this vertical light indicator device, a worker equipped with a light pole, if necessary telescopic, and terminated by a chalk, a brush or a felt-tip pen, can thus trace the axes of pipes on the ceiling of a building. previously drawn on the ground and this without any assistance.
This device would therefore be very useful on building sites where installations must be carried out on ceilings whose heights are between 2 and 6 m.
Theodolytes with laser beams are already encountered on construction sites, but they are neither designed nor usable to fulfill this function of the verticality indicator device, and they are also much more expensive.
