Abstract

The bicycle has the rear fork unit, the seat stays and chain stays (3, 4), made so that they can be detached from the main frame (5) and placed, together with the seat and handlebars, inside the main frame triangle with the wheels (8) on either side. During re-assembly the rear forks attach to the main frame by studs (2) projecting from the bottom bracket and a quick-release fitting (1) at the top. USE/ADVANTAGE - Designed to be dismantled for transport where there is little available space, e.g. in a ship or aircraft. Reduced space requirement, allowing bicycle to be fitted into suitably-shaped bag.

Description

The purpose of this cycle is to be easily removable and transportable by taking up little space during transport, for example by boat or plane. We will now explain how it is dismantled, using Figures 1 and 2.

Fig. 1 represents a mounted cycle
Fig. 2 represents a disassembled cycle

The rear fork triangle, which consists of the base (4) and the seat stay (3) is not welded to the frame (5); it is connected to it on the one hand by the base (4) which fits into two cylindrical studs (2) coming out of the bottom bracket, and, on the other hand, by the top of the shroud clamped by a quick tightening, itself serving as a pin, with the seat clamp (1). When the rear triangle is disassembled, it can be stored in the space of the frame (5), the derailleur (9) remaining in place. The handlebars (7) and the saddle (6) can also be stored in the same space. The wheels (8) will be placed in parallel, on either side of the disassembled cycle. All stored in an appropriate suitcase.
