Abstract

On a paper web (1) for issuing checks and comprising two opposed surfaces, namely a front side (3) and a back side (4), a sequence of messages are printed on one of said surfaces in sympathetic ink, thereby one of the messages, which would be normally invisible, can be made visible by treating the relevant surface (3, 4) with a suitable reactant to develop the sympathetic ink. Thus, checks can be printed which, additionally to their normal cash registering function, will provide promotional and/or staking effects.
