Abstract

The method is intended for improving the efficiency of a stepping motor (1) having a rotor (15) possessing a permanent magnet (16) generating a first magnetic field, and a first coil (13) and second coil (14) intended respectively for applying to the magnet (16) a second magnetic field (18) and a third magnetic field (19) symmetrical to one another in relation to an axis of symmetry (7) intersecting the axis of rotation (15a) of the rotor (15). <??>The method involves applying to the motor (1), to rotate its rotor (15) in a particular direction, driving pulses during which the two coils (13, 14) are fed simultaneously with currents of such direction and intensity that, at the start of each driving pulse, the magnetic field obtained as a result of the vector addition of the second (18) and third (19) magnetic field in the magnet (16) forms, with another magnetic field (17), itself obtained as a result of the vector addition in the magnet (16) of the two parts of the field generated by the latter, which each pass through one of the coils (13, 14), an angle of between 110 DEG and 160 DEG and of a direction, measured from this last field (17) obtained towards the preceding one, identical to the direction of rotation of the rotor (15). <??>The claimed motor (1) can advantageously be controlled by the above method by virtue of the fact that its positioning means (21, 22) are arranged in such a way that, in each of the positions of rest of its rotor (15), the abovementioned second field (17) obtained forms an angle (A) of a value of between 20 DEG and 60 DEG with the axis of symmetry (7). <IMAGE>
