DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
In winding machines, in particular machines for winding fine wires, for example for making the coils of loudspeakers, magnetic read heads or other electrical or electronic components, the winding speeds are such that the slightest modification in its resistance to wire travel or tension adjustment can cause wire breakage and therefore a significant loss of time and production.
Different types of wire feeder with wire tension adjustment devices on winding machines have been developed: they generally include a wire clamping system, the clamping force of which can be adjusted using a spring, compression is mechanically controlled, or another friction system. These existing devices are not entirely satisfactory, because they do not make it possible to cope with sudden jerks, accelerations, decelerations and modifications over short durations of the thread tension, and are easily disrupted, in particular due to vibrations of the winding machine.
The subject of the present invention is a wire feeder which is distinguished by the features of claim 1.
The single figure of the accompanying drawing illustrates very schematically and by way of example a part of a winding machine equipped with the wire feeder according to the invention.
The reel according to the invention, illustrated in the drawing, comprises a device for adjusting the tension of the thread; a device limiting variations in thread tension due to external factors, such as variation in the winding speed, the diameter of the thread to be wound or its surface condition, and a device for indicating breakage of the thread. These three devices are mounted either directly on the frame of the winding machine, or on supports themselves intended to be fixed on the frame of a winding machine.
The device for adjusting the tension of the winding wire 1 is arranged, in the example illustrated, on a first support 2 intended to be fixed to the frame of the winding machine. This device comprises a wire guide 3 constituted by a passage having a smooth and rounded surface limiting as much as possible the friction with the wire. Between this wire guide 3 and a wire-carrying coil (not shown) are arranged three cylindrical pins 4, 5, 6, fixed in the support 2 and extending perpendicularly out of its upper surface. These pins 4, 5, 6 are arranged so that, when the wire 1 passes on one side of the pins 4, 6 and on the other side of the pin 5 along a straight path, the surfaces of said pins 4, 5 , 6 define a lateral guide of this wire 1.
This thread tension adjustment device 1 also comprises at least two washers 7, 8 freely threaded on the pin 4 and at least two washers 9, 10 freely threaded on the pin 6. The thread 1 passes between the washers 7 and 8 , respectively 9 and 10, and it is the weight of the upper washers 8, 10 which defines the pinching force of the wire 1 and therefore its tension.
Thus, this thread tension adjustment device is purely static and cannot be adjusted. The thread tension can be changed at will by varying the weight of the washers 8, 10 or their number.
For proper operation of this adjustment of the thread tension 1, it is preferable that the pins 4 and 6 extend in a vertical direction, thus allowing the washers 8, 10 to slide freely on these pins. The edges or edges of the washers 8 to 10 can be chamfered or rounded so as not to injure the wire 1 running between them.
The device limiting the variations in tension of the thread 1 due to external causes is, in the example illustrated, mounted on a second support 11 rigidly fixed by a column 12 on the first support 2.
This device comprises an axis 13, preferably parallel to the axis of the coil 14, pivoted in the support 11 and subjected to an elastic return action, here a spring 15 fixed between the end of a spindle 16 secured of the axis 13 and a stop 17 whose position is adjustable on the support 11.
The axis 13 also carries an arm 18 whose free end has a second wire guide 19, this arm 18 preferably extending in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the coil to be wound 14.
Thus, during winding, sudden and momentary variations in the tension of the thread 1, due to external causes such as variation in the winding speed, the diameter of the thread, its surface condition, etc., can be avoided or all at least strongly attenuated by an angular displacement of the arm 18 against the elastic return action of the spring 15.
When the winding is carried out under normal conditions, at the normal tension of the thread, the arm 18 is angularly displaced by a determined value against the action of the spring 15. If, for any reason, the instantaneous tension of the thread 1 decreases, the arm 18 moves in the direction of the arrow f under the action of the spring 15; if the instantaneous tension increases, the arm 18 moves in the opposite direction against the action of the spring 15. In both cases, this angular displacement of the arm 18 makes it possible to avoid or at least reduce the amplitude of the instantaneous variation tension in the wire 1.
The illustrated reel also comprises a device for indicating wire breakage 1 comprising a lever 22 secured to the axis 13 carrying the arm 18, the free end of which acts on the movable member 20 of a switch or contactor 21. This contactor 21 is connected to an electrical circuit controlling a display indicating the breaking of the wire 1 and / or, if necessary, the stopping of the winding in progress.
The reel according to the invention is particularly advantageous, because it is of simple and robust construction, cannot be adjusted and makes it possible to cancel or dampen instantaneous variations in the tension of the thread to be wound.
Many variants of the reel described can be provided without departing from the scope of the claimed protection, provided that it includes a device for adjusting the tension of the wire acting by gravity only, as well as a device tending to limit sudden variations in the tension of the thread involving an elastic action.
In a variant of the reel, the device for adjusting the tension by gravity of the wire could not include the middle pin 5, the wire 1 would pass on one side of the pin 4 and on the other side of the pin 6. In another variant, it is the pin 4, respectively 6, and the associated washers which can be deleted; here again, the wire 1 passes from the side of the pin 5 and to the other side of the pin 4 or 6 respectively.
