   DESCRIPTION

   DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to an automatic continuous winding process, rapid, rational and precise, for the industrial production and in large series of wound components.

At the present stage and in the techniques used to date, the component is manufactured in a series of semi-automatic operations, the winding being of a unitary character, with individual positioning of the lugs and welding of the ends of the wire on these last by manual intervention.

The object of the present invention is an automatic continuous winding process which makes it possible to almost completely reduce human intervention in the manufacture of the wound components and consequently to increase in a particularly advantageous production rates. In addition, this new automatic winding process has the advantage of facilitating, even allowing, the manufacture of components with extremely small dimensions, intended for microminiaturized technologies and of being particularly well suited to the use of robots, for example, in modern application, for rapid installation of these components wound on printed circuits.

The present method is distinguished by the characteristics listed in claim 1 appended hereto.

FIG. 1 shows the tinned metal support in the form of a precut strip.

Figure 2 shows the pre-cut support with folded tabs for hanging the wire to be wound.

Figure 3 shows the positions of the two bonding points on the support necessary for the attachment to the latter of each of the cores.

Figure 4 shows the support with its cores fixed by gluing.

Figure 5 shows the support with its cores fixed by gluing and wound with an uninterrupted wire.

Figure 6 shows for each component the welding points of the unbroken wire on each of the terminals.

FIG. 7 represents the component coated with a plastic cap.

Figure 8 shows the finished component separated from its support after cutting the end of its lugs.

The automatic continuous winding method according to the invention and shown diagrammatically in the drawing comprises the production of a tinned metal support in the form of a precut strip 1, provided with holes 2 for its automatic drive, with folded tabs 3 for hanging uninterrupted wire 4 welded at point 11 between two windings, its bonding points 5 for the cores 6 which, once wound up with uninterrupted wire 4, become components 7, the latter being able to be covered with a plastic cover 8 by which these components 7 can be taken up with precision for subsequent operations in robotics for example, the points 9 of the support 1 being the places for the final cutting of the ends of the lugs 10, thus releasing the component 7 from its support 1 definitively.

According to this method, a support is prepared from a continuous strip, metallic or provided in at least some places with an electrically conductive coating, by cutting allowing the formation of fastening members island along one of its edges, hooking members 3 folded after cutting out of the plane of the support, and drive perforations 2.

Since this support is thus produced, a core 6 to be wound is glued to two fixing members or lugs I. The fixing of the core 6 to these lugs 1 can be carried out in any other way.

Then, using a feed device (not illustrated) pulling the strip step by step through its perforations 2, this strip is moved relative to one or more winding heads, for example those described in the CH patent. 668056.

The winding wire 4 is moored, by two or three turns, on a hooking member 3, then it is led under the terminal I before being wound around the core 6, then led under the other terminal I carrying this core 6, finally deflected towards the attachment member 3 according to which it is moored. The strip then advances by one step, and the winding cycle is repeated for the next core 6.

Then, where the wire passes under the lugs 1, it is welded to each of these lugs 1 by any known process, for example by laser.

Then, the core 6 is overmolded or encapsulated with a plastic casing 8, then the lugs 1 are separated from the strip by cutting them along the lines 9, cutting at the same time the wire between each of its welding points on the lugs I and the attachment member 3 to which it is moored. The wound and encapsulated component, provided with its lugs 1, is finished. It was obtained fully automatically continuously, without manual intervention.
