Description
BESCHREIBUNG
DESCRIPTION
A link chain according to the preamble of claim 1 is known from US-PS 3976233. It is a wristwatch chain, the links of which are shaped as hollow bodies made of sheet metal. At both ends, spiral, cylindrical projections are formed from the sheet metal blanks. The approaches of two adjacent links are pushed into one another transversely to the chain longitudinal direction for positive engagement. This chain is well suited for wristwatches because the load is very low with this application. However, it is quite complex to manufacture.
The object of the invention is to design a link chain in such a way that it can be produced inexpensively.
This object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1. Because the links of the chain according to the invention have a continuously cylindrical profile, they can be produced by cutting off a profile bar and are therefore very inexpensive.
Exemplary embodiments of the invention are explained below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
1 and 2 are a side view and a plan view of a first embodiment,
3 and 4 are a side view and a plan view of a second embodiment, and
5 and 6 are a side view and a plan view of a third embodiment.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2 consists of identical links 1 which are pushed into one another transversely to the longitudinal direction of the chain and have a continuously cylindrical full profile.
The two interlocking end parts 2, 4 of adjacent links 1 are circular cylinder segments, the end part 2 having a convex, circular cylindrical surface 3 with a circumferential extent which is greater than the concave circular cylindrical surface 5 of the end part 4, so that the links around the axis of the end part 2 are pivotable to a limited extent. In order to secure the links 1 against each other, they are trapezoidal in plan view (FIG. 2), so that the end part 2 projects above the end part 4 on both sides. Compression points 6 on these projecting sections of the end part 2 prevent the links from falling apart.
3 and 4 is composed of two types of chain links 1 la, 1 1b and a spacer 17. The links 1 la, 1 lb in turn have a continuously cylindrical full profile. The link 11 a has identical end parts 12 on both sides with a convex circular cylindrical surface 13. The link 1 lb has identical end parts 14 with concave cylindrical surface 15 which engage in the end parts 12 in a form-fitting manner. The surface 13 has a greater circumferential extent than the surface 15 Spacer 17 is wider than the links 1 la, 1 lb and has compression points 16 on its end faces in order to secure the chain links.
The spacer 17 protrudes from the surface of the links 11b and acts as a driver, e.g.
when using the chain as a conveyor chain. With correspondingly shorter links 1 la, the spacer 17 can also be omitted.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 5 and 6 in turn has identical links 21 with a continuously cylindrical full profile. The two form-fitting interlocking end parts 22, 24 of adjacent links 21 are circular cylinder segments, the end part 22 having a convex, circular cylindrical surface 23 with a circumferential extent which is larger than the concave circular cylindrical surface 25 of the end part 24. The links 21 are in plan view ( Fig. 6) trapezoidal. A pin 26, the extension 27 of which serves as a driver, is inserted on both sides through the sections of the end parts 24 projecting beyond the end parts.
If the chain is guided on both sides, e.g. when used as a conveyor chain or as a roller shutter, the securing elements 6, 16, 26 are not necessary. The end parts 2, 24 projecting on both sides can be used to engage a chain wheel for driving the chain.
