Abstract
The mitre box is used for cutting wood for frames with mitred joints. It is made in the shape of a 'T' with workpiece guides (1,2) arranged at right angles to each other. The box has two saw guides (8) inclined at 45 deg. to the workpiece guides (1,2). When the components of a frame are to be cut, the first component is placed in the first workpiece guide and cut at 45 deg. using one of the saw guides. The second component is then placed in the second workpiece guide but the same saw guide is used as for the first component. This method ensures that the two components make a perfect 90 deg. joint. USE - Home handyman.
Description
BESCHREIBUNG
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a miter box according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
The invention has for its object the known, widely used in DIY and craft businesses. to improve relatively long U-shaped miter shop and to affect inexpensive execution of the miter shop. It is also possible to miter two workpieces using different screw clamps.
Frame strips have to be cut very precisely, especially those that have already been processed, e.g. gilded frame moldings because
Inaccuracies in the joints that arise when putting together the 45 "sawn cut surfaces cannot be removed by retouching.
In order to avoid this disadvantage, the shape of the miter box enables operations which are described using the figure, which shows a perspective view of the miter box.
A frame strip is arranged on the bearing surface part 1 in such a way that a saw cut of 45 "on this workpiece is possible via the saw guide 8.
A second frame strip is arranged on the bearing surface part 2 in such a way that a 45 "saw cut is also carried out via the same saw guide 8 used for the first sawed frame strip.
When sawing, inaccuracies arise on the cut surfaces, both caused by the width of the guide and by the imprecise movements of the person who is performing the work.
This disadvantage is partially eliminated by using the same guide for both saw cuts, because the inaccuracies compensate each other; e.g. if one cut surface, instead of 45, 46 ", the other has 440 per se.
As with the 45 "cut, undesired inaccuracies also prove to be the case with deep cuts. For example, if the saw cut runs inwards on one cut surface, it runs outwards on the other cut surface, so that the above-mentioned inaccuracies cancel themselves.
In order to correct the still inaccuracies of the two cutting surfaces, a last fine cut is made with the same guide, in which both cutting surfaces of the workpieces arranged at right angles are placed next to one another.
The last fine cut saws about half a millimeter away from both cut surfaces so that the resulting joint is as clean as possible.
The known cutting and clamping shutters from US Pat. Nos. 960 159 and 3893362 also have these advantages.
With these devices, even a final fine cut is not necessary because their precision and stable construction enable a fairly precise first cut. However, in contrast to this invention, these devices are rather expensive because, in order to achieve perfect cuts and because of the relatively complicated clamping devices, they have to be built from stable material such as steel, cast iron or the like.
In order to clamp the workpieces in the miter box, you can use small screw clamps that are commercially available and that can clamp the workpieces both laterally and from above. The height of the feet 11, which are located below the bearing surface 1 and 2, allows the fixed part of the screw clamps mentioned to be pushed in without the miter box losing its stability.
The feet 11 can be made entirely of rubber or of wood, but must then be equipped with a rubber sole which ensures the slip resistance of the miter box.
The saw guides 9 and 10 are intended for 90 cuts.
