Abstract
Water is demineralised by passing it through a magnetic container and filtering it with a reverse osmosis membrane immediately downstream of the container. A device for carrying out the process is also claimed. The container pref. has permanent magnets. The membrane may be housed in a filter vessel with a valved drain. USE/ADVANTAGE - For coffee machines, steam cookers, laboratories, garages, or desalination. The surface tension of the water in the filter is reduced.
Description
DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
It is known to treat a liquid using magnetic conditioners. These conditioners are used in particular for water treatment. The water passing through this conditioner passes through magnetic fields, which induces an alternating electromagnetic current in the water, which modifies the kinetics of crystallization of calcium carbonate, so that it forms sludge instead of lime scale. . The water thus treated has the property of disintegrating the old layers of tartar by erosion.
Also known are reverse osmosis membrane filters. These filters have the disadvantage that the membrane is clogged with impurities after a certain operating time, so that it is necessary to periodically replace the membrane (s).
The invention relates to a method for treating a liquid which has many advantages over known methods. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the liquid is passed through a magnetic conditioner and, immediately thereafter, through a reverse osmosis membrane filter.
It has been found that this process makes it possible to obtain filtration, demineralization and descaling, the efficiency of which is much higher than that which can be expected by simply adding the results obtained by the magnetic conditioner and by the filter. membrane. This surprising result seems to be due in part to the fact that the water which has just been treated by the magnetic conditioner exhibits for a very short time a very substantially reduced surface tension.
The invention also relates to a device allowing the implementation of said method.
The single figure of the accompanying drawing shows schematically and by way of example a device for implementing the method according to the invention.
The device shown comprises a magnetic conditioner 1 with an inlet pipe 2 and an outlet pipe 3. The latter is connected directly to the inlet of a filter 4 with reverse osmosis membrane. This filter comprises an outlet pipe 5 and a drain 6 controlled by a valve 7.
The device described is more particularly intended for the treatment of water, in particular with a view to its use in coffee machines, in steam cooking and also with a view to obtaining demineralized water for laboratories and garages. . It is also possible to treat brackish water.
It goes without saying that the device can be used in general for all liquids which are usually filtered by a reverse osmosis membrane filter.
It should be noted that the arrangement described still has the advantage of increasing the maximum flow rate which passes through the membrane filter, this being probably due to the decrease in the surface tension of the water at the outlet of the conditioner. magnetic. This increase in flow is very noticeable and can reach 30 to 40%. In addition, it was found that the life of the membrane was very significantly increased, as well as the purity of the water obtained.
It is of course possible to use any known type of magnetic conditioner but, because of their simplicity and reliability, it is advantageous to take a conditioner of the permanent magnet type.
