Figur 1 zeigt die Prinzipdarstellung einer Dreischichtelektrode, wie sie der Erfindung zugrunde liegt;
Figur 2 zeigt in geschnittener Darstellung eine Ausführungsform einer Körperableitelektrode gemäss Erfindung;

The invention is in the field of electrocardiography, vector cardiography, electroencephalography and electromyography. It relates to a body electrode for the measurement of bioelectric signals on the body surface.
The bioelectric activity of body organs gives the electrical body field special properties that can be measured as an electrical potential difference on the body surface. For example, the heart can be understood as an electrical generator, instead of which terminal voltages potential differences in the electrical field of the body surface near or far from the heart are measured. In a certain analogy, bioelectrical brain activity is also to be understood.
The potential measurements between two points on the surface of the body are called derivations in the electrocardiographic, vector cardiographical and electroencephalographic sense. The measurement or derivation is carried out as a function of time and results in a time / voltage diagram, e.g. B. the electrocardiographic registration strip. The measured signal strengths are in the range of micro-volts, whereby, for example, the depolarization signal, which is several times smaller, can easily get lost in the case of somewhat stronger device noise.
The problem with body field measurement of such small signal strengths with a correspondingly high device input impedance is the effect of artefact sizes that falsify the image of the effective electrical body field, with the consequence of a diagnostic uncertainty, since pathological changes in and on the heart are no different than an artefactual deviation from the normal image of the electrical heart effect can be grasped.
Various lead electrodes are currently used to register the bioelectrical signals mentioned:
1) simple, continuously reusable metal plates with attached supply line,
2) Metal electrodes that can only be used once, with electrolyte material and socket in a tear-open pack.
To eliminate as much artifacts as possible, you have to use the above Electrodes thoroughly degrease the patient's skin, shave if necessary, use electrolyte material between the skin and the electrode and ensure perfect contact of the electrodes.
Despite this complex technology, there are big problems if you want to register biosignals with increased physical exertion, e.g. B. in a running person (exercise ECG).
With the current electrodes, it is impossible to register biosignals in the water, e.g. B. in a swimming person.
It is an object of the invention to simplify the application technique of the electrodes as much as possible, i. H. to create a body drainage electrode, the use of which does not require the use of an electrolyte, and in which foreign measuring components between the body surface and the electrode, e.g. hair, dirt, etc.
do not lead to incorrect measurements.
It is a further object of the invention to provide a body dissipation electrode for potential measurement in the bioelectric body field which is insensitive to the influence of artifacts and which essentially only reproduces the electrical conditions at the point of attack, that is to say the topographically defined area of the body surface.
Furthermore, it is an object of the invention to provide a body drainage electrode with which measurements can be carried out under water, for. B. ECG measurements.
The object is achieved in that the discharge electrode has on the body side an electrically conductive electrode layer that can be galvanically connected to the measuring contact of the measuring apparatus, an intermediate layer that is connected flatly therefrom and consists of an electrically non-conductive material, and an electrically conductive electrode that shields the electrode layer and the intermediate layer Has device connectable cover layer.
A preferred embodiment of the invention uses as the electrically conductive electrode layer an elastically flexible plastic film with incorporated electrical conductors in the form of metal threads, an intermediate layer made of silicone rubber and an elastically flexible cover layer made of an antistatic material with good electrical conductivity.
A further preferred embodiment uses the same material in the same configuration as the electrode layer and as the covering layer, in between an insulating layer as the intermediate layer, and a cap covering the layering made of plastic material with embedded electri
connections for the electrode layer and the cover layer.
Another preferred embodiment is a band-like electrode for application on an aquipotential line.
The invention will now be discussed with the aid of the figures listed below.
FIG. 1 shows the basic illustration of a three-layer electrode as it is based on the invention;
Figure 2 shows a sectional view of an embodiment of a body lead electrode according to the invention;
FIG. 1 shows a human torso with a body dissipation electrode 1 attached to the thorax, which is far oversized for the sake of better representability, with an inner electrode layer 2 facing the body. This electrode layer 2 is the actual tap of a region of the bioelectrical body field and has to affect the field effect to be made of an electrically conductive material.
In addition, the voltage potential must be passed on to the measuring device; for this purpose, the electrode layer 2 is connected to the shielded measuring line 9, which measuring line supplies the time-dependent voltage, for example to a preamplifier 12 in the cardiograph 10. Adjacent to the electrode layer 2, an insulating intermediate layer 3, similar to a dielectric, is provided in order to isolate a cover layer 5, which acts as a Faraday shield, from the electrode layer 2 receiving the measurement signal. This cover layer 5 is also made of an electrically conductive material and is connected, for example, to the device ground or another reference potential via a galvanic connection.
It is advantageous, as shown in FIG. 1, to provide a cable shield which is connected to ground, so that pickup effects of the cable loops are also excluded. It should of course also be mentioned here that the body lead electrode 1 shown on the thorax is only one of several such electrodes for recording an electrocardiogram; As already mentioned, Figure 1 shows more of the principle of the invention. Of course, the same applies to the acquisition of an electroencephalogram.
The body drainage electrode according to the invention is shown in more detail in FIG. 2. The body drainage electrode 1 is enlarged somewhat here, that is to say about 1.5 to 2 times larger than its actual dimensions, and is drawn on a thorax T. The somewhat curved lines should represent the flexibility or flexibility of the electrode; it can of course also be used in a fully functional, hard version. The electrode layer 2 lying on the skin consists in the flexible embodiment of, for example, a polyethylene film with embedded silver fibers for the electrical conductivity. In the case of the rigid version, it is a thin plate made of corrosion-resistant metal.
A measuring line connection 2 'is embedded in the electrode layer 2. which in turn is connected to the measuring line 9 leading to the cardiograph. An insulating intermediate layer 3 is applied somewhat overhanging the edge zones of the electrode layer 2. ideally so that the electrode layer 2 can be embedded in a recess corresponding to its shape. The intermediate layer 3 advantageously consists of a commercially available silicone rubber. which can withstand a possible sterilization.
Covering the entire intermediate layer, an electrically shielding cover layer 5 is now provided, which can consist of the same material as the electrode layer; In the rigid version, this would roughly be a sandwich of a silicone layer between an electrically shielding metal plate and a metal plate brought to bioelectrical potential. A shield line connection 4 is embedded in the cover layer 5.
which in turn is connected to the capsule shield 7. The cable shield is on the device ground.
The entire layer structure shown in FIG. 2 is embedded in a protective electrode cap 8, ideally by means of an encapsulation or casting technique, specifically in this way. that only one window remains free for the electrode layer 2. The contact point between the electrode layer 2 and the electrode cap 8 should be hermetically sealed for hygienic reasons, since it is a rather durable, reusable discharge electrode. Such a durable electrode is cleaned with the usual means up to sterilization.
The field lines of the bioelectric body field penetrating into the electrode layer 2 impart their potential to the metallic components of this layer. It is irrelevant whether there is an electrically conductive electrolyte between the body tissue and the electrode layer 2. In the usual high-resistance measurement, no measurable currents are extracted from the body field anyway, the transmission of the potential is particularly important. which is tapped at different parts of the body. The use of electrolyte pastes is also superfluous, and hair between the electrode and the skin tissue does not interfere.
Because of this advantage, a completely closed electrode can be produced, which can have an extremely thin but resistant film made of the same material as the electrode cap 8 between the skin tissue and the electrode layer 2. A body drainage electrode sealed in this way meets any hygienic requirements in the field of cardiography and electroencephalography.
