Abstract
The gases produced in the first phase of the process, namely the acid phase, in particular CO2 and H2S, are separated out. The apparatus has an introduction line (1) for the biomass and a removal line (7) for the gases produced in the fermentation chamber (4) for the acid-formation stage. The bottom chamber, which is open at the base, forms the transition into the fermentation chamber (4) for the region (6) of methane production. The methane-containing biogas is removed via the line (2), while the degraded biomass is discharged through the overflow (3). <IMAGE>

PATENTANSPRÜCHE

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Process for the anaerobic processing of plant and animal biomass, consisting of organic materials with a relatively high molecular weight, in which in a reactor space the high-molecular organic materials by bacterial strains in organic materials with low molecular weight and these in lower organic acids and with the formation of H2 and CO2 be converted into acetic acid, and then the resulting substances are converted into CH4 and CO2 by methane-forming bacteria, and in the reactor space a volume distribution of the acid phase and methane phase in a ratio of 1:
: 10 takes place, in the compartment for the acid phase the degraded products sink down and reach the fermentation chamber for methane formation through an open connection, characterized in that the gases formed are discharged from the acid phase through a discharge line.
2. Bioreactor for carrying out the method according to claim 1, comprising an inlet line (1) for the organic substance to be treated, an area (4) for the treatment of the biomass with acid-forming bacteria, including an area (5) below for the formation of acetic acid, an area (6) in open communication therewith for the methane formation, the ratio of the acid and acetic acid forming area to the methane forming area being 1:10, a gas outlet (2) and an outlet for the degraded biomass, characterized by an outlet line (7) for the gases generated in area (4).
German patent 31 02 739 relates to a method for
Production of biogas from plant and animal biomass, including waste.
When storing the biogas, the gases serving only as fiber, such as CO and H2S, cannot remain in the biogas due to space requirements, and the energy yield would be reduced by these gases. In addition, H2S would cause a strong corrosion effect in the pipe system.
The object of the invention is to avoid the disadvantages arising from entraining the ballast gases. According to the invention, the object is achieved in that the gases formed are removed from the acid phase through a discharge line.
The invention accordingly also relates to a bioreactor for carrying out the method, comprising an inlet line for the organic substance to be treated, an area for the treatment of the biomass with acid-forming bacteria, including an area underneath for the formation of acetic acid, and an area in open communication therewith methane formation, the ratio of the acid- and acetic acid-forming area to the methane-forming area being 1:10, a gas outlet and a discharge for the degraded biomass, characterized by an outlet line for the gases formed in the area.
It is also particularly advantageous if the acid compartment (i) 4 and the methane compartment (e) 6 are completely filled with liquid.
This can be achieved by keeping the liquid level in the filler or discharge nozzle higher than the rest of the level.
Otherwise, an overflow line 3 for discharging the used biomass can be present in the discharge part of the methane formation zone (s) 6.
The single figure represents an exemplary embodiment of the invention.
In the figure, 1 denotes the inlet line for the biomass, 4 the fermentation room for the acid formation stage, 7 the outlet line for the gases produced in 4, 5 the downwardly open floor space for the transition into the fermentation room for methane formation 6. The methane-containing biogas is transferred via the line 2 discharged, while the degraded biomass is discharged via the overflow 3.
