Abstract

The toothpick is shaped so as to faithfully reproduce the shape of the gaps between one tooth and the next at the base of the teeth. For this purpose it has substantially trapezoidal sections which get smaller towards the tip, with tapering curved sides. The upper front part (B, E, F) is concave and the lower front part (G, H, B) is curved towards the top. The base of the tip (HB) is impregnated with an antiplaque, antibacterial and scented substance, whereas the sides (1') are coated with a fluorine-based toothpaste and with a light abrasive. The whole is protected by a film which is removed mechanically and under the action of saliva when the toothpick is inserted in the gaps between the teeth. Therefore, the toothpick not only enables residues from chewing which have become lodged in the gaps between the teeth, to be removed but in particular enables bacterial plaque and tartar to be removed as a result of the deposition of the antiplaque substance, as well as permitting brushing of the neck of the teeth and the application of fluorine, thereby preventing tooth decay. <IMAGE>
