REVENDICATIONS

CLAIMS
1. Instrument for removing mucus from the female genitalia, characterized in that it comprises at least one flexible triangle-shaped blade (I) whose angles are rounded, mounted coaxially at the end of a rod (2) attached to the edge of the triangle (1).
2. Instrument according to claim i, characterized in that the triangular blade (1) is in the form of an isosceles triangle.
3. Instrument according to claim 2, characterized in that the rod (2) is fixed to the base of the isosceles triangle (1) in the axis of the latter.
4. Instrument according to the unit of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the rod is in two parts (2, 3) intended to be screwed in the extension of one another.
The Pap test is commonly performed in gynecology, which consists of examining samples of mucus from the bottom of the vagina and the cervix to detect the possible presence of tumor cells.
To do this, we developed instruments such as the Ayre spatula made of wood or plastic, which has at one of its ends a blade with a rounded tip allowing to collect mucus from the bottom of the vaginal sac and its at the other end, a blade with a substantially Y-shaped tip, the ends of the branches of which are rounded to allow the removal of mucus around the cervix. To collect mucus deeper in the cervix, a wooden rod coated with cotton wool at one end is generally used. Due to the partial absorption of mucus by the cotton, generally only enough cytological material is recovered to perform a reliable examination.
In order to remedy this drawback. the instrument, according to the invention, for the removal of mucus from the female genital organs is characterized in that it comprises at least one flexible blade in the shape of a triangle whose angles are rounded, mounted coaxially at the end of a rod attached to an edge of the triangle.
The accompanying drawing shows schematically and by way of example an embodiment of the instrument according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the instrument comprising a flexible blade in the form of an isosceles triangle 1 whose angles are rounded, mounted on a rod 2 fixed to the base of the isosceles triangle in the axis of the latter. The rod 2 fixed to the triangular blade 1 is designed so as to be screwed in the extension of a rod 3.
Fig. 2 shows an Ayre spatula blade with rounded tip 4 mounted on a rod 5 capable of being screwed in the extension of the rod 3 in place of the rod 2 fixed to the triangular blade 1 when it is desired to proceed with a mucus sample from the bottom of the vaginal sac.
Fig. 3 shows a blade of Ayre spatula in the shape of Y 6 whose end of the branches is rounded and which is mounted on a rod 7 capable of being screwed in the extension of the rod 3 in place of the fixed rods 2 with the triangular blade 1 or 5 fixed to the spatula of Ayre with rounded tip 4 when it is desired to carry out a sample of mucus around the cervix, both on its ecto- and endocervical edges.
It is thus possible by means of the blade 1 mounted on the rod 2 and screwed on the rod 3 to penetrate deep into the cervix with rotation of the rod 3 around its axis to take from the blade 1 of triangular shape with rounded angles a significant amount of deep endocervical mucus. By screwing in a second step in the extension of the rod 3 the rod 7 on which the blade 6 is mounted it is possible to rapidly perform a mucus sampling both ecto- and endocervical around the cervix. By screwing in a third step in the extension of the rod 3 the rod 5 on which the blade 4 is mounted it is still possible to take a mucus sample from the bottom of the vaginal sac.
