10. The method for operating the flow container according to claim 1, 2 and 4, characterized in that the melt is stowed both in the pouring chamber (9) and in the treatment chamber (10).
The invention relates to a continuous container for positioning between a ladle and a casting mold according to the preamble of claim 1.
Pass-through machines, also known as beam deflectors, are used in the foundry, particularly in automatic foundry equipment. Because they are smaller and lighter, they can be positioned as close as possible to the casting ladle and vertically above the casting mold. Another function of a flow container is to keep the free-flowing melt flow into the mold as low as possible and thereby keep the ferrostatic pressure as low as possible. A continuous container can also play an important role when inoculating a molten metal.
For example, a continuous container is known from CH-PS 584 075, in which a vaccine consisting of loose powder or granules is blown into the interior from above via a feed channel during operation.
The CH-PS 469 809 shows a flow container in the form of a rotary vortex chamber. Inoculation wire is guided into the interior of this rotary vortex chamber through a feed channel in the horizontal cover, the inoculation wire being immersed in the melt flow. In another embodiment, granulate is supplied by means of a metering screw.
A disadvantage of these flow containers is that the melt splashes as it flows into the empty flow container and that the splashes hit the opening of the feed channel and start to settle there, as a result of which the feed channel is partially or completely blocked. As a result, the vaccine supply is impaired and reliable vaccination is questioned. Another disadvantage is that seeding or mixing in a flowing stream is considerably less effective than in a standing melt.
It is an object of the present invention to avoid the disadvantages mentioned above and to propose a flow container with which vaccination can be carried out reliably. Vaccination should also be carried out more effectively.
According to the invention, this object is achieved by the teaching of claim 1. Advantageous further developments emerge from the dependent claims.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to two exemplary embodiments shown in the drawing.
Show it:
1 is a vertical section of a flow container according to the invention in the operating position,
Fig. 2 shows a section along the line 1 - 1 in Fig. 1, and
Fig. 3 is a partial section of FIG. 1 of another embodiment.
In an automatic casting system, an iron melt flows from a stopper pan 2 into a continuous container 3 and from there into a casting mold 4. The interior 9, 10 of the container 3 is divided into a pouring chamber 9 and a treatment chamber 10 by a fireproof splash guard 8. The wall 8 is embedded in grooves 14 in the end walls 15 of the container 3. The lower outer wall of the container 3 runs obliquely towards the treatment chamber 10 and forms the impingement wall 17 for the pouring jet 18 flowing out of the pouring ladle 2. Since the wall 8 and the impingement wall 17 do not abut against one another, a through opening 20 is formed, which forms the lower region of the pouring chamber 9 connects to the treatment chamber 10.
However, various embodiments are possible here; so the bulkhead 8 can rest on its entire underside against the impingement wall 17, one or more through openings with, for example, circular or oval cross-section then forming the connection between the chambers 9, 10. It may be advantageous to connect the splash protection wall 8 in one piece to the walls 15, 17.
In a substantially vertical side wall 26 opposite the splash guard 8 there is a supply channel 27 for the supply of inoculant in the form of inoculation wire 28 (FIG. 1). The arrangement on the side instead of above the container 3 is advantageous in the case of an inoculation wire feeder version because, especially as a result of the omission of feed rollers and deflection rollers, the Ab
stood between the ladle 2 and the container 3 can be kept small. In addition, the wire 28, which is a crimp wire filled with powder, can remain straight through the feed channel 27, which runs obliquely downwards towards the treatment chamber 10, whereas the wire would have to be deflected at right angles when it is fed from above; there is a risk that the wire will maintain the radius of curvature, butt against the side wall 26 and deform in an uncontrolled manner instead of melting.
The mouth 32 of the feed channel 27 in the treatment chamber 10 is always above the highest possible bath level 33 on the side wall 26, so that the mouth 32 is never wetted with melt and cannot clog. An overflow can be provided to ensure this.
The splash guard 8, which is present between the pouring opening 34, which is formed by the upper, open side of the pouring chamber 9, and the feed channel 27, protects the mouth 32 from splashes which can block the feed channel 27 due to the solidification of the melt drops. The wire can be fed continuously by means of feed rollers 37 without the risk of a malfunction.
In order now to be able to bring about effective vaccination, the melt in the treatment chamber 10 is kept at the highest level of the bath level 33 as long as possible, as a result of which the residence time of the melt in the treatment chamber 10 is increased. On the one hand, this is achieved in that the cross section of the through opening 20 is larger than the cross section of the outflow opening 38 located in the bottom of the treatment chamber 10. On the other hand, this is brought about by rapid pouring, ie the cross section of the pouring jet 18 is chosen to be larger than the cross section the through opening 20.
The melt is thus jammed both in the pouring chamber 9 and in the treatment chamber 10.
In order to increase the capacity of the pouring chamber 9, as a result of which the metered amount of melt from the casting ladle 2 can be removed more quickly, the splash guard 8 can be arranged obliquely, so that the splash guard 8 and the impact wall 17 are approximately at right angles to one another. This position is provided with the reference number 39 and is indicated by dashed lines.
Fig. 3 shows an embodiment in which a metered
Amount of powder or granules is blown in in a manner known per se via a feed channel, a pipe 43. The
Pipe 43 can be guided horizontally or obliquely through the side wall 26, the free end or the mouth 44 also being above the highest bath level 33. The tube can also be arranged without major disadvantages above the side wall 26 (this situation is identified by the reference numeral 45) because only little space between the flow container 3 and the pan is required.
The baffle 44 is associated with a baffle plate 46, which contributes better than a pipe bend to less resistance in the pipe. In addition, the shape of the baffle plate enables the granules to be distributed over the bath level in a targeted manner.
