PATENTANSPRÜCHE

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Coupling between rotating bodies (6, 11) rotatably mounted in two different separable and joinable parts (1, 2) of a housing, a first part of the coupling (14) with the end of one (6) and a second part of the coupling ( 15, 16) is rigidly connected to the end of the other rotary body (11) and the housing parts (1, 2) are separable or joinable by a relative movement running perpendicular to the direction of the axis of the rotary body (6, 11), characterized in that that the first part of the clutch consists of a parallel to the axis of the one rotating body.
Over the end of which protrudes eccentrically arranged pin (14) and the second part of the coupling consists of a round disk (15) arranged perpendicularly and concentrically to the axis of the other rotary body with square elevations (16) arranged thereon, these elevations (16) in are shaped and arranged in accordance with which they together form a star running concentrically to the disk, (fig. 3,4,5), the individual points of which by radial cutouts (18) with parallel, a slightly exceeding the diameter of said pin having edges are separated from one another, so that when the two housing parts (1, 2) are joined together, said pin (14),
if necessary with mutual limited rotation of the two rotating bodies (6, 11), enters one of the said radially extending cutouts (18) and thus, in the assembled state of the housing parts, there is a positive connection between the pin (14) and the square elevations (16).
2. Coupling according to claim 1, characterized in that said elevations (16) form an eight-pointed star and that the angles of the teeth are 450, whereby the elevations (16) are rhombic in shape.
In the case of devices which have a two-part, water-tight screwed housing, the task often arises of rotating a rotating body located inside the device by means of a rotatable operating element located outside the housing and thus making adjustments to the device. The passage of a shaft connected to the operating element through the housing must be sealed, but loosening of this seal when separating the two housing parts must be avoided. This task is easy to achieve if the operating element is attached to the housing part to which the device parts to be adjusted are attached.
If the control element and the rotating body to be adjusted are stored in different parts of the housing, the difficulty of the solution depends on whether the axes of the control element and the rotating body to be adjusted coincide or not and in which direction the two housing parts are joined together and in relation to each other should be separated. While in most possible combinations of the type mentioned, the above-mentioned object can be achieved in a known manner with the aid of gears, toothed or claw clutches, this is not the case if the two axes of rotation coincide and the direction of joining the housing parts is perpendicular to these axes should.
This task arises, for example, in the case of a desk-shaped housing which can be separated at the edge of the floor and which has a horizontally lying rotating body which is connected to its bottom and is to be adjusted and which is to be rotated with an operating element connected to the upper part of the housing.
The present invention now solves this problem with the aid of the coupling defined in claim 1.
The invention will now be described using an exemplary embodiment.
FIG. 1 shows the side view of a part of a desk-shaped device for the delivery and display of messages with a rotary knob, a keyboard and a display panel.
The housing is shown partially cut.
FIG. 2 shows a section of the part of the device shown in FIG. 1.
Figures 3, 4 and 5 show views of one part of the coupling and sections through the other part. On the basis of these coupling parts, two phases a and b are shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 and three phases a, b and c in FIG. 5, as starting from three different starting positions of the coupling part shown in section - the two coupling parts engage when the Housing parts are joined together.
The device shown in Figures 1 and 2 has an upper housing part 1 and a bottom 2, which are screwed together and the parting line is sealed by a sealing cord 3 inserted into a groove. A bearing 5 is installed in a carrier 4 fastened to the bottom 2, in which the drum 6 is rotatably mounted. A second bearing of the drum is not shown. The carrier 4 also carries a display panel 7, with which illuminated signs can be displayed in a manner not shown. A window 8 allows a view of both the surface of a narrow sector of the drum 6 and the display panel 7. The window 8 consists of a glued-on glass pane, which was chosen to be relatively thick in order to store heat.
This storage is necessary if the device is moved from a warm to a cold environment. The air inside the device then cools down faster than the window, whereby the moisture condenses on the inside of the housing walls and the window remains free of condensation.
The device also has a keyboard, of which a key 9 is shown. The data entered on the keys are displayed on the display panel 7 and assigned different functions in the different positions of the roller.
These functions are each indicated on the part of the roller visible through the window 8, and the position of the roller is converted into electrical data in a manner not shown.
In a manner not related to the invention, the latter data are processed together with the data entered by the keys 9.
The roller 6, on which a raster device acts in a manner not shown, can be rotated step by step with the rotary knob 10. This button 10 sits on a shaft 11 which is mounted in the bearing bush 12 installed in the upper housing part 1 and is sealed with the sealing cord 13.
The shaft 11 is now positively connected to the roller 6 by means of a coupling. This coupling is composed of two parts, of which a first part consists of a pin 14 and a second part of the round disk 15 with elevations 16, which is concentrically attached to the shaft 11. The pin 14 runs parallel to the axis of the roller 6, is inserted eccentrically to this axis in the end piece 17 of the roller and projects beyond this end piece and thus beyond the end of the roller. The pin is located between two adjacent ridges 16, whereby the roller 6 is also rotated when the knob 10 is turned.
FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 show the shape of the elevations 16 provided on the disk 15. These elevations are rhombic and together form an 8-pointed star, the individual points of which are separated from one another by radially extending cutouts 18. The edges of these cutouts run parallel and have a distance which is the
Diameter of the pin 14 slightly exceeds. The diameter of the circle on which the pin 14 moves is half the diameter of the disk 15.
The three FIGS. 3, 4 and 5 further show how the two coupling parts engage when the upper part 1 of the housing is placed on the floor 2. The three figures show the conditions at three different positions of the roller and thus three different positions of the pin 14. As was briefly mentioned earlier, the roller 6 and thus the pin 14 are held in place by a not shown raster, whereas the disc 15 and thus the control button 10 are freely rotatable. One of the ridges is provided with a symbol 19 on the figures, which is not present on the coupling and only serves to explain the processes when the two coupling parts are pushed together by recognizing the amount of rotation of the disk 15 and thus of the shaft 11 relative to the starting position leaves.
In Figures 3a, 4a and 5a, the two coupling halves are each shown in the separate state and in Figures 3b, 4b and Scim pushed together. Figure Sb represents an intermediate phase.
In FIG. 3, a position of the pin 14 shown in FIG. 3a is assumed, in which this pin is located at the top. As is easily conceivable, the pin, provided the two coupling parts are joined together by mutual displacement in the direction of the arrow, enters the cutout 18 running between these teeth between two teeth. The disc 15 is rotated a little counterclockwise and then back again, so that it occupies the same position in the two figures. The mutual position of the pin 14 between the elevations 16 shown in FIG. 3b remains even when the roller 6 is rotated by the rotary knob 10.
The position of elevations 16 and pin 14 shown in FIG. 2 corresponds to the illustration in FIG. 3b with the difference that in FIG. 2 two elevations are cut away in front of and above the axis of rotation.
In Figure 4, the pin 14 is on the side. When the coupling parts are joined together, the disk 15 rotates here by a quarter turn and thus more strongly than in the starting position according to FIG. 3a.
FIG. 5 shows the coupling conditions when the pin 14 is at the bottom. In this case, the disc 15 is only slightly rotated when the coupling parts are assembled. In contrast to the two cases shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the pin 14 here, after having entered a cutout 18 between two elevations in a cutout 18 in a first phase shown in FIG Disc, where all cutouts 18 intersect, and then enters a further cutout, as shown in Figure 5c.
The clutch also works correctly if the axis of the roller 6 and the shaft 11 do not match exactly. In this case, the pin 14 moves slightly back and forth in the relevant cutout 18 during the rotation.
The features assumed for the exemplary embodiment, such as the number of teeth and the specified dimensions and angles, have a very advantageous effect, but the invention is in no way linked to it. An even number of points is preferable because, under the conditions shown in FIG. 5, the pin, as shown in FIG. 5c, can then easily enter a cutout for the second time. It is also not necessary for the elevations 16 to have the angles of the outwardly directed tips as large as the angles of the inwardly directed tips resulting from the number of teeth, so that the elevations also need not be rhombic.
Of the elevations 16, of course, only the outlines of the description need to be designed. It can be advantageous, particularly when manufacturing the pane 15 with the elevations 16 from plastic injection molding, to make the elevations hollow.
