2. Installation according to claim 1, characterized in that the piston is controlled by a double-acting cylinder.
3. Installation according to claim 2, characterized in that the cylindrical chamber is connected to a vacuum source by a valve controlled by a proximity sensor to close said valve when the product arrives in the cylindrical chamber of the piston.
4. Installation according to one of claims I to 3, characterized in that the cylindrical chamber is a volumetric cylinder.
The present invention relates to an installation for pumping and transferring products of all viscosities stored in containers, this installation being more particularly intended for the chemical industry.
The basic products used by the chemical industry for the production of inks, varnishes, paints, food products, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products and others are stored in containers which are usually cylindrical and of standardized sizes. The products are extracted from these containers by electric or pneumatic pumps and are conveyed in the mixing tanks for the preparation of the final product. The basic products are powdery, liquid or pasty products, therefore having various viscosities. It is not possible to completely extract products with high viscosity by simple pumping. This fact implies a loss of the mass of the basic product remaining inside the container, a loss which is not acceptable both from an economic and ecological point of view.
Of course, it is possible to recover part of this mass by scraping the interior of the container, but this operation requires additional labor and is often tedious. It should also be noted that the pneumatic or electric pumps used for pumping these products are relatively expensive.
The invention proposes to remedy these drawbacks by proposing an installation for pumping and transferring these products at a lower cost than traditional pumps and allowing almost complete extraction of all the basic products, regardless of their viscosity. .
To this end, the installation according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a tray provided on its periphery with an expandable sealing gasket and intended to hermetically seal one of said containers containing the product to be pumped and transferred , a piston moving in a sealed manner in a closed cylindrical chamber, at one of its ends, by a three-way valve selectively placing the cylindrical chamber in communication with an orifice of said plate, during the recoil of the piston, allowing the product to fill the cylindrical chamber under the effect of the vacuum thus created, and with a transfer line, during the advance of the piston, for the expulsion of the product contained in said cylindrical chamber.
By hermetically closing the container through the tray, the product, under the effect of the vacuum created by the recoil of the piston, fills the cylindrical chamber. Subsequently, under the effect of the advance of the piston and after having put the cylindrical chamber in communication with the transfer line by manipulating the three-way valve, it is pushed into the transfer line and conveyed to the tank. mixed.
Under the effect of the vacuum created by the recoil of the piston and maintained thanks to the presence of the seal, the product, whatever its viscosity, is detached from the wall of the container.
According to a variant intended for very viscous products, to accelerate pumping, the piston chamber is connected to a vacuum pump by a valve which is controlled by a proximity detector detecting the arrival of the product in the chamber, to prevent the product is sucked in by the vacuum pump circuit.
According to another variant, the cylindrical chamber is a volumetric cylinder thus allowing an installation to function as a metering device.
An additional advantage of this installation is that the products are transferred to a vacuum atmosphere, thus eliminating the air which can distort the volumetric measurements of products.
The invention will be described, by way of example, using the attached drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic view of a first variant of the installation.
Fig. 2 shows a schematic view of a slightly modified installation.
The installation (fig. 1) comprises a tray 1 provided with an inflatable seal 2 making it possible to perfectly fit the wall of the container 3 containing the product 4 to be transferred. A pipe 5, tightly connected to an orifice 7 of the plate 1, allows a cylindrical chamber 8 to be placed in communication, via a three-way valve 9, with the container 3. Inside the cylindrical chamber 8, a piston 15 can move in sealed manner under the effect of a double-acting cylinder 10. A transfer pipe 11 also leads to the three-way valve 9, making it possible to convey the product in a tank 12 mixing or transfer.
By putting in communication, by the appropriate manipulation of the valve 9, the chamber 8 with the pipe 5 and by making the piston 15 move back, a vacuum is created which makes it possible to extract the product 4 from its container. The product contained in the chamber 8 is expelled into the tank 11 by advancing the piston 15, after having put the chamber 8 in communication with the transfer line 1 1 and closed the passage to the line 5 via the valve 9.
Of course, at the start, the installation will have to be started by evacuating the air in line 5 by operating the piston 15.
For extremely viscous products and to allow the acceleration of the transfer, the cylindrical chamber 8 can be connected to a vacuum pump 13 via a valve 14 controlled by a proximity detector, not shown. When the product arrives in chamber 8, the piston being in the retracted position, the proximity sensor closes the valve 14 to prevent the product from entering the vacuum circuit. The double-acting cylinder 10 ensures that the piston will remain stationary during the suction phase and, thereafter, ensures the advance of the piston and the transfer of the product in the pipe 11 and in the tank 12.
According to the variant of FIG. 2, to avoid pressure drops during suction, line 5 has been removed and the three-way valve 9 has been placed directly at the outlet of orifice 7 of plate 1. Line 1 1 is longer, allowing thus to route product 4 at longer distances.
Finally, the chamber 8 can be a volumetric cylinder allowing the installation at the same time to ensure the dosing of the products.
