Die Kupplungskomponenten der Formel III sind ebenfalls bekannt oder können nach bekannten Methoden gewonnen werden. Verwendung finden die erfindungsgemässen Azoverbindungen der Formeln vor allem als Farbstoffe zum Färben, Klotzen oder Bedrucken von Textilmaterialien, welche mit Dispersionsfarbstoffen anfärbbar sind. Die Textilmaterialien, vor allem synthetischen Fasermaterialien aus linearen, aromatischen Polyestern, beispielsweise solche aus Terephthalsäure und Glykolen, besonders Äthylenglykol oder Kondensationsprodukten aus Terephthalsäure und 1 ,4-Bis-(hydroxymethyl)-hexahydroben- zol;

where the symbols X, Z, round n have the meaning given.
The diazotization reaction and coupling reaction take place in a known manner, such as. B. described in Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, Vol. 5 (1954), page 783ff.
The amines of the formula II are known or can be prepared by known methods. In particular, amines of the formula II are used in which X is hydrogen, halogen or C1-C4-alkoxy.
Examples of amines are: 2-nitro-aniline, 2-nitro-4-chloroaniline, 2-nitro-4-bromoaniline, 2-nitro-4-methylaniline, 2-nitro-4-ethylaniline, 2-nitro-4- methoxyaniline and 2-nitro-4-isopropoxyaniline.
The coupling components of formula III are also known or can be obtained by known methods. Coupling components of the formula III in which Z denotes the CN group, n the number 2 and R the unsubstituted phenyl group or phenoxy group or where n the number 3 and R the group are used in particular

The azo compounds according to the invention of the formulas are used above all as dyes for dyeing, padding or printing textile materials which can be dyed with disperse dyes. The textile materials, especially synthetic fiber materials made of linear, aromatic polyesters, for example those made of terephthalic acid and glycols, especially ethylene glycol or condensation products made of terephthalic acid and 1,4-bis (hydroxymethyl) hexahydrobenzene;
Polycarbonates, for example those made from a, cr-dimethyl-4,4'-dihydroxy-diphenylmethane and phosgene, esters of cellulose, for example cellulose triacetate and fibers based on polyvinyl chloride, can be present in a wide variety of processing forms. B. as fibers, threads or nonwovens, fabrics or in particular knitted fabrics.
The dyes are applied using the known dyeing processes. For example, polyester fiber materials are dyed in the exhaust process from aqueous dispersion in the presence of conventional anionic or nonionic dispersants and, if appropriate, customary swelling agents (carriers) at temperatures between 80 and 125 ° C. or in the absence of carrier under pressure at about 100 to 140 ° C. (HT Method).
Cellulose-2V-acetate is preferably dyed between about 65 to 85 ° C. and cellulose triacetate at temperatures up to 1150 C. The dyes are also suitable for dyeing by the thermosol process. At the same time, they dye little or no wool and cotton present in the dyebath on (very good reserve), so that they can be used for dyeing polyester / wool and polyester / cellulose fiber blended fabrics.
They also have good solubility in many organic solvents and can thus be used for dyeing varnishes, oils, plastics such as polystyrene and polyethylene, in bulk and for fibers using the usual spin dyeing processes.
It is advantageous to convert the dyes into dye preparations before they are used. For this purpose, they are ground so that their particle size is on average between 0.01 and 10 microns. The grinding can take place in the presence of dispersants. For example, the dried dye is ground with a dispersant or kneaded in paste form with a dispersant and then dried in vacuo or by atomization. With the preparations obtained in this way, dyeing, padding or printing can be carried out after adding water.
When padding and printing you will use the usual thickening agents, e.g. B. modified or unmodified natural products, for example alignments, British gum, gum arabic, crystal gum, locust bean gum, tragacanth, carboxymethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl cellulose, starch or synthetic products, for example polyacrylamides or polyvinyl alcohols.
The new azo dyes of the formula I give the hydrophobic materials mentioned clear, luminous, greenish-yellow shades of very good fastness properties, such as, above all, very good light fastness and sublimation fastness, heat-setting, pleating, chlorine and wet fastness such as water, sweat and wash fastness : the colorations are also characterized by good pH stability. and show no catalytic fading if they are mixed with blue dyes.
Temperatures are given in degrees Cel sius in the following examples; Unless otherwise stated, parts (T) are parts by weight.
example 1
17.25 g of 2-nitro-4-chloroaniline are diazotized in a mixture of 150 ml of water and 30 ml of concentrated hydrochloric acid at 0-5 by adding 25 ml of 4N nitrite solution, corresponding to an amount of 6.9 g of solid sodium nitrite, as usual .
This diazo solution is carefully added dropwise at 0-5 to 25.4 g of lP-phenylethyl-3-cyano-4-methyl-6-hydroxypyrid-2-one within one hour, dissolved in a mixture of 350 ml of water and 15 ml concentrated sodium hydroxide solution, the pH being kept between 5 and 6 during the addition of diazo by dropwise addition in sodium hydroxide solution. After the addition of diazo has ended, the test is stirred for 15 h at room temperature. Then the precipitated dye of the formula

filtered, washed with water and dried in vacuo at 60-70. This gives 42 g of a yellow powder which dyes polyester fibers and other hydrophobic textiles in a strong color in greenish yellow tones with very good fastness to light and sublimation by the usual dyeing processes.
The pyridone used as coupling component is prepared by reacting ss-phenylethylamine with cyanoacetic acid in a known manner and ring-closing the amide formed with acetoacetic acid and aqueous ammonia solution as the base to form the pyridone.
The compounds which correspond to the following general formula and which are prepared in an analogous manner to that described are also good dyes.

Example 51 1T of the dye obtained in Example 1 is wet-ground with 2T of a 50% aqueous solution of the sodium salt of dinaphthylmethane disulfonic acid and dried.
This dye preparation is stirred with 40 parts of a 10% aqueous solution of the sodium salt of N-benzylheptadecylbenzimidazole disulfonic acid and 4 parts of a 40% acetic acid solution are added. A dye bath of 4000 T is prepared from this by dilution with water.
In this bath one enters 50 T with 100 T of a polyester fiber material, raises the temperature within half an hour to 120 to 130 and dyes for one hour in a closed vessel at this temperature. It is then rinsed well. A strong greenish yellow color is obtained with very good fastness to light and sublimation.
Example 52
2 T of the dye obtained in Example 1 are dispersed in 4000 T of water. 12 T of the sodium salt of o-phenylphenol and 12 T of diammonium phosphate are added to this dispersion and 100 T of polyethylene glycol terephthalate yarn are dyed in this liquor at 95 to 98 for 90 minutes.
The colored material is then rinsed and aftertreated with aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and a dispersant.
This gives a greenish yellow color with very good fastness to light and sublimation.
Example 53
Polyethylene glycol terephthalate fabric is impregnated on a padder at 40 with a liquor of the following composition.
20 T of the dye obtained in Example 1 finely dispersed in
10 T sodium alginate
20 T triethanolamine
20 T octylphenol polyglycol ether and 930 T water.
The tissue, which has been squeezed off to about 100%, is dried at 100 "and then fixed for 30 seconds at a temperature of 210. The dyed goods are rinsed with water, soaped and dried. A greenish-yellow color is obtained with very good fastness to light and sublimation.
