The present invention relates to an envelope, which is already finished and in which the bottom flap is already glued. The invention also relates to a method for producing the envelope.
The envelope according to the invention is finished and has an already glued bottom flap. It is characterized in that the mouth flap is provided with an adhesive layer which consists of adjacent, touching adhesive segments, the segments being arranged in such a way that one segment alternately consists of a water-reactive adhesive from the group of animal, vegetable and Synthetic resin adhesives and the other segment consists of a hot sealing adhesive based on synthetic resins, which can be reactivated with heat rather than water.
Envelopes are usually finished on standard Winkler and Dünnebier machines and the bottom flap is then glued with known adhesives, such as vegetable, animal and / or synthetic resin adhesives. The mouth flap is then generally provided with an adhesive which can be reactivated with water, the adhesive layer is dried, the mouth flap is mechanically folded down and the finished envelope is packed in boxes. This process is used worldwide.
If the envelopes are to be filled and sealed mechanically, the contents intended for dispatch are mechanically brought into the envelope and the mouth flap, which is coated with the adhesives described above, is wetted with water using a wet roller or a wet brush . This activates the adhesive and immediately folding it down and gently pressing the mouth flap results in a sealed envelope.
Unfortunately, the envelope glued in this way, the mouth flap adhesive of which is mentioned above, is unreliably glued, which means that, for example, the mouth flap opens completely or partially during mailing, and in addition the envelope glued in this way can be Mouth flap is no longer well or only partially connected to the pad, can be easily opened mechanically or without steam by unauthorized persons without damage, without the recipient (addressee) noticing anything about it.
The aim of the invention is to provide an envelope that can only be opened by third parties if the envelope is damaged at the same time, thus ensuring that no one apart from the sender and the recipient can be aware of the contents of the envelope.
A method for producing the envelopes of the most varied formats according to the invention is now also made available, these being provided with different segment-like adhesive layers on the mouth flap, and the envelopes, which are already shaped and in which the bottom flap is already glued, in scaled Arrangement are guided to the mouth valve adhesive application system in such a way that its adhesive application roller continuously applies the mouth valve adhesive to the scale-like mouth valve parts of the envelopes, the dried mouth valve adhesive then being dried by means of heat and air or
can be cooled by air so that it is no longer active at the machine outlet
The method according to the invention is characterized in that the mouth flap adhesive layer is applied simultaneously or in succession in the form of segments lying next to one another, the segments being arranged in such a way that one segment alternately consists of a water-reactive adhesive from the group consisting of animal, vegetable and synthetic resin -Adhesives and the adhesive, which cannot be moistened with water and can only be reactivated with heat, is a hot-seal adhesive.
In the method according to the invention, the envelopes, which are already shaped and whose bottom flap is glued, are guided in a shingled arrangement to the mouth seal adhesive application system in such a way that its adhesive application roller continuously applies the mouth valve adhesive to the mouth flap adhesive
applies scale-like parts of the mouth flap and prevents the adhesive from being applied over the entire surface.
As already described above, the layer to be glued, which is produced on the mouth flap of the envelope, consists of adjacent, touching segments, whereby segments are always arranged side by side, the number of which depends on the shape of the mouth flap and the size of the envelope have a different kind of adhesive.
One segment always contains an adhesive of animal or vegetable origin (dextrins, starches) that can be reactivated with water, but which can also be present from synthetic vehicles or mixtures thereof; e.g. in the form of aqueous emulsions or suspensions or as a solution in inorganic solvents or in solid form as a hot melt adhesive, e.g. a solution of 60 parts of dextrin and 40 parts of water or an aqueous dispersion of copolymers of polyvinyl acetate or a synthetic resin mixture of polyvinyl pyrrolidone and polyvinyl acetate and resins in solid form (e.g. granules).
The other, adjacent segment either contains a hot sealing adhesive, preferably based on aqueous or solvent-containing synthetic resin compositions, or based on a hot-melt adhesive in solid form (100% solid substance). Examples of this are: a 50% aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate or a solid synthetic resin mixture of 40% of the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, 30% paraffin or wax and 30% of a resin.
The segments can be applied at the same time or one after the other using adhesive application rollers, it is only important that the mouth flap is provided with an uninterrupted, continuous layer of adhesive.
After applying the adhesive segments in a continuous sequence, depending on the type of adhesive, the adhesive can be applied in different ways:
If both adhesives are based on aqueous systems, they are dried with air and heat.
However, if hot-melt adhesives that can be moistened again and hot-melt reactivatable hot-melt adhesives are applied instead of the aqueous systems, these hot-melt adhesives must be applied hot, at approx.
This means that aqueous adhesive systems are applied in a liquor that has a temperature of approx. 15 - 250C. On the other hand, adhesive systems, namely the hot melt adhesives, should be applied at a liquor temperature or also at the melting temperature of approximately 130 to 180 ° C.
If you are working with aqueous systems, it is dried, in the case of non-aqueous systems which are applied at a temperature of more than 100 ° C., on the contrary, one has to cool down.
The envelope according to the invention thus has a mouth valve adhesive on which, in alternating segments, contains two different and also differently reacting adhesives.
The advantages of the envelopes obtained according to the invention are as follows:
The envelopes which can be produced according to the invention can be securely glued and there is no possibility of opening them by means of steam or heat, since the adhesives which can be reactivated with water are poorly suited to heat (the softening point of the synthetic resins is higher than 100 ° C.) and the adhesives which can be reactivated with heat do not react to water or steam.
Another advantage is that the existing sealing machines can still be used normally, since the basic type of packaging has not changed, because the usual adhesive used up to now is also available at least up to 50nu, based on the entire adhesive layer of the mouth flap has the function of immediately attaching the flap to the envelope body.
The disadvantage of an envelope that would only be equipped with heat seal adhesive and e.g. could not be opened by means of an iron, since the water-reactive adhesive reacts poorly or not at all with heat.
